Possible improvements
[edit]I feel that this article could be expanded by adddressing the following:
- Coverage: add more information on early life (e.g. schooling) if it can be found, also more information on later life;
- Introduction: expand the introductory section to sum up the entire article and life of the subject;
- Infobox: possibly put the image inside the infobox to clean up the formatting;
- Citations: the last sentence needs a citation;
- Format: try to format the bare links in the citations using the {{cite web}} format to provide more details; also consolidate the refs that are the same using WP:NAMEDREFS
- Clean up the References section, adding {{cite book}} format to the books and remove the bare external link altogether as it is already included in the citations.
- Abbreviations: there is some inconsistency e.g WWII and WW2; however, I'd suggest not using the abbreviation at all and either saying World War II or World War 2;
- Date linking: as per Wikipedia:Linking#Month-day linking dates should rarely be linked.
Hope this helps. Cheers. — AustralianRupert (talk) 01:17, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Work in Russia?
[edit]"After the German surrender he was captured by the Russian Army and taken to Russia where for several years he helped develop their fledgling jet aircraft program." - is there any source for this? --Martin.bergner (talk) 11:17, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
"Russia"? Might that mean the Soviet Union? Would one write that a German engineer had been captured by "the California Army and taken to California"?173.62.108.108 (talk) 00:21, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Requested move (April 2012)
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: not moved, no consensus to change primary topic. Once usage is measurable, can revisit. -- JHunterJ (talk) 19:41, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Walter Blume → Walter Blume (pilot) – The purpose is to make Walter Blume a disambiguation page for this article and Walter Blume (SS officer). Hoops gza (talk) 19:09, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment. Do you have a rationale for why you believe the pilot isn't the primary topic? Looking at the page views, in the last 90 days the pilot's page was viewed 915 times, compared to only 68 page views for the SS officer. Jenks24 (talk) 19:41, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - and WP:TWODABS.--ukexpat (talk) 19:48, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment. Well, the SS officer article is new. I think that the views will balance out in time, I guess that we can wait and see.Hoops gza (talk) 21:49, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- I think you should close this RM and renominate if the page views do balance out. Jenks24 (talk) 01:43, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose Fighter aces, and especially high scoring aces (multiple aces) are highly prominent, more so with the WWI variety, considering they were promoted as knights of the air. This fighter ace was awarded the Blue Max as well. 70.49.124.225 (talk) 06:06, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose per IP. Agathoclea (talk) 09:05, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose I think it is recognised on Wikipedia that where we have 2 people of the same name the margin of notability does not have to be very great to decide that one of them is the primary meaning. As far as I can judge, there may not be very much in it, but the pilot looks like the more important. PatGallacher (talk) 00:12, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Walter Blume → Walter Blume (pilot) – Well, some time has passed and the page views have indeed balanced out. In fact, the SS officer has nearly twice as many views (619) as the fighter ace (344). I propose making Walter Blume a dab page unless consensus is that the SS officer is actually the primary. On the German Wikipedia the SS officer is actually the primary. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 22:09, 9 June 2012 (UTC) Hoops gza (talk) 22:33, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Comment I would object to the SS officer becoming primary, it is not supported by the pageviews, and as stated last time, WWI aces have high prominence, and this one won the Blue Max. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 14:29, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- Update -- Oppose per opinions filed last time that a Blue Max holder is highly prominent. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 06:36, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose no need to change only a few weeks since last discussion which determined not to rename. MilborneOne (talk) 19:05, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Blume had nothing to do with the Ar-234 C
[edit]Walter Blume wanted--and had--nothing to do with the Ar-234 C. That airplane was designed by Radiger Kosin. See the book "Arado AR 234C," by David Myhra.173.62.11.59 (talk) 17:31, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

– Hate to say it, but it appears that the SS officer has gained more importance than the fighter pilot. In the past 30 days, the SS officer has 828 views to 248 views for the pilot. At the least I think there should be a dab page. Hoops gza (talk) 00:24, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- OK with me either way. Cmacauley (talk) 01:54, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose repeatedly proposing this over the course of two years, until stats are favoring the SS officer is not very convincing. The pilot is still a Blue Max holder, and multiple ace, from WWI, the era of the Knights of the Air. At most you might have argued into having a disambiguation page at the plain name, but that's all I can see. The April 2012 stats more lopsidedly favored the pilot over the SS officer than your current stats for the SS officer, so I see no reason for moving it, since this is not the more than order of magnitude difference found the first time, it's a much much smaller difference. When the pilot's page stats come back up, we'll be moving it the other way again. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 03:15, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment the proposed pilot title should be created as a redirect -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 03:19, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Neutral on move of aircraft designer, Oppose move of SS Officer - Google Books "Walter Blume was" probably indicates that neither is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC but a move of the aircraft designer to (pilot) or (aircraft designer) isn't a great title. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:32, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- I found Walter Blume (musician) of brief notability in 1910s, so created Walter Blume (disambiguation) but still think the pilot/designer could arguably stay where he is. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:14, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment on almost every other wiki the SS officer is the primary.Hoops gza (talk) 17:11, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment This is the English Wikipedia, not the non-English Wikipedia. Primary usage in other languages does not mean it is primary usage in English. Indeed, for a large number of topics, this is not the case. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 04:19, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- The other wikis don't all have both, but yes it's not too suprising recent history is more notable for European wikis. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:20, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose when it is fairly close best just leave it alone, looking at the page view stats if everybody visiting this page was looking for the SS officer by mistake then nearly twice as many are finding the SS officer page without coming here first. MilborneOne (talk) 11:22, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose We also have URL stability to consider as there will be quite a few webpages linking here. And switching the target right under their noses is not nice. Agathoclea (talk) 19:41, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
