Umagang Kay Ganda (Lit. A Morning So Beautiful) is a Philippine morning show broadcast by ABS-CBN. The show premiered on June 25, 2007, and currently airs every Weekday mornings from 4:55 am–8:00 am. It is the network's first program to be aired after signing on.
Synopsis
The main ingredient they have added in this morning show is audience interaction and participation. In line with this new format, they are airing their show from Club O (formerly Dish) in the ABS-CBN compound to make the show more accessible to the public. The show includes live traffic points and regional news. They had set up six traffic points within Metro Manila.
At 6:15 a.m., ABS-CBN Regional stations cut this program mid-way, without any notice, to air 45 minutes of local morning programming. Each local morning program features local news and features. These are the list of local morning programs produced by the Regional Network Group except since 1993 with Maayong Buntag Mindanao in Davao (Southern Mindanao), since 2005 with Maayong Buntag Kapamilya in Cebu (Central Visayas) and since 2006 with Panay Sikat in Iloilo and Magandang Umaga South Central Mindanao in General Santos/Cotabato (Socsksargen and Central Mindanao).

History
Umagang Kay Ganda premiered on June 25, 2007 at 5:15 am, replacing Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas. Original hosts included Edu Manzano, Pinky Webb, Anthony Taberna, Alex Santos, Winnie Cordero, Donita Rose, Zenaida Seva, Ogie Diaz, Kim Atienza, Bernadette Sembrano, and Rica Peralejo.
Manzano and Diaz left the show more than two years later as the former was to run for Vice President and be acquired by GMA Network two years later and the latter to concentrate hosting Entertainment Live.
On May 11, 2009, Umagang Kay Ganda launched "Boto Mo iPatrol Mo Ako Ang Simula" in preparation on the May 2010 Philippine elections.
On July 13, 2009, Ginger Conejero and Atom Araullo separately joined the show, filling the vacancy created by the departure of Manzano and Diaz.
On October 21, 2009, Kim Atienza left the show to become one of the hosts of It's Showtime (formerly known as Showtime).
On March 22, 2010, Andre Felix, Bekimon, and Phoemela Baranda joined the show as hosts. The same year, Araullo left the show to concentrate on field reporting.
On February 7, 2011, Iya Villania, Jeffrey Tam, and Miss Universe 2010 fourth runner-up Venus Raj joined the show, replacing Sembrano, Peralejo, Conejero and Bekimon. On August 1 of the same year, Bernadette Sembrano replaced Webb, after the former's 6-month hiatus from the show.
On January 30, 2012, Bianca Gonzalez replaced Donita Rose, who left the show for joining professional chef. Anthony Taberna and his Dos Por Dos co-host Gerry Baja joined the casts.
On June 4, 2012, Ariel Ureta joined the show as its new host.
On January 28, 2013, Jorge Cariño joined the show replacing Santos, and Araullo returned after 3 years.
On February 10, 2014, Umagang Kay Ganda's timeslot was shortened from 5am-8am into 5am-7:30am and cuts its original 3-hour runtime into 2 hours and 30 minutes, due to the airing extension of another popular morning program, Kris TV.
On October 2, 2015, Bernadette Sembrano bids tearful farewell to the show, as she will focus on TV Patrol.[1]
On October 23, 2015, ANC ended its simulcast for Umagang Kay Ganda (which began in 2007) in preparation for the major revamp of the channel's logo, imaging and programming change. The timeslot was replaced by Mornings @ ANC (which transferred from original timeslot at 9:00 to 11:00 am) beginning October 26, 2015 (the original timeslot of Mornings @ ANC are now occupied by three different programs namely, the morning edition of Market Edge with Cathy Yang, News Now and On the Money are also began on the said date).
Since June 20, 2016, Umagang Kay Ganda brought back its original 3-hour runtime from 5:00am to 8:00am, replacing the edited version of the eighth season of Naruto Shippuden which ended on June 16, 2016. ABS-CBN was forced to permanently shelve the premiere of the third season of Kuroko's Basketball,[2] in favor of the Kapamilya Blockbusters movie block as well as Korean dramas, removing the Team Animazing anime block permanently.
On September 15, 2017, Atom Araullo left the show following his leaving from ABS-CBN due to that he decided to return to GMA Network.[3]
After almost 11 years of broadcasting in Standard Definition (480i, 4:3 SDTV) format, Umagang Kay Ganda has finally switched to High Definition (1080i, 16:9 HDTV) format starting on April 2, 2018 (together with other network's news programs were introduced the day before).
Kori Quintos and Jeff Canoy were temporarily joining the show and replacing Araullo and Pura. Taberna, Perez, Cariño, Romero, Cordero, Ureta, Ho, Mortel, Brosas, Shoaf, and Marasigan were the hosts of the show.

Controversy
Taberna's remarks on rape victim
On February 19, 2018, In the video, a news report of a 19-year-old girl was delivered; she was allegedly gang-raped after meeting up with someone she was chatting with online.
In the background, however, Anthony Taberna’s voice can be heard, saying:
"This is just remarkable. It’s not the first time that this happened. There have been so many incidents like this of eyeball meet-ups. What’s more dangerous is you not only go to that eyeball meet-up, you even went out for a drink. That’s the problem, that’s the hardest of all, especially since you’re drinking out with an all-male group."
Taberna, however, didn’t stop there. Seemingly cutting off Jeff Canoy, Taberna responded that in truth, women shouldn’t put themselves in dangerous situations.
"No. The truth is it’s easy to say that to men. Excuse me in so far as the victim is concerned, the one who must be given justice. But this should be a (warning) for future incidents. If you’re a woman, don’t enter a hole of evil-doers."[4]
