My name is RICHARD CORDEIRO, I am a native Hamiltonian (Born: August 14, 1968), born and raised in West Hamilton near Dundurn Castle, and living it up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, (Riverdale neighbourhood). I'm also an honours graduate of the Graphic-Arts Production Co-ordinator program in Mohawk College, Brantford campus. I use the handle "Nhl4hamilton" on wikipedia because of Hamilton's continued quest to lure an NHL hockey team for the Copps Coliseum Arena.
I started making contributions to Hamilton, Ontario wikipedia articles because I wasn't satisfied with the amount of information we had here prior to joining wikipedia. That's when I decided to roll up my sleeves and do something about it. As well close to 500 photos have now been uploaded here and in the process of uploading them all to WIKICOMMONS. I'm also about to start work on many of the existing Toronto, Ontario articles PLUS create some new ones as well like I did with many of the current Hamilton articles here at wikipedia.
On June 28, 2007, Hamilton, Ontario was promoted to the "FEATURED ARTICLE" candidate status here on wikipedia, making it only the FORTY FIFTH city from around the world, (and 3rd Canadian city, Vancouver and Dawson Creek, British Columbia being the first 2...and first from Eastern Canada), to reach this milestone status. This placed Hamilton, Ontario in the same company with cities like Boston, Hong Kong, Jerusalem and San Fransisco. I was then featured in the local Hamilton Spectator newspaper, "Street Beat" article written by Paul Wilson on April 16, 2007.
On Friday, February 29, 2008, Hamilton, Ontario became the "FEATURED ARTICLE" on wikipedia...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!...and I was featured once again for the second time in Paul Wilson's "Street Beat" article that day in the Hamilton Spectator. Great exposure for the city as wikipedia gets over 300-MILLION PAGE HITS DAILY! As I like to tell everyone I come into contact, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia on steroids!
The next phase of my work here will focus on the List of streets in Hamilton, Ontario which are on the mountain. Many of these still need to be created. A lot of my preliminary work will be off line as I will do a lot of research and gathering of information down at the Hamilton Public Library as well as travel around town with my digital camera and snap up photos to upload to these articles. Another focus of mine right now will be to work on the List of waterfalls in Hamilton, Ontario as well as all the individual articles for each of these waterfalls in our region. For now I am creating stubs for each and then after that the next phase will be expansion and addition of photos for each of the 100+ Hamilton waterfalls.
I've also produced a couple of Hamilton templates and they being: (1) Template:Roads in Hamilton, Ontario and Template:Hamilton. There's two more templates I plan creating as well. One for the Hamilton Sports venues, after stubs for each of the venues are created and another template for our 100+ waterfalls.
I've also created and uploaded 3 panoramic images of our city. There will be other images too that I upload for all the wikipedia articles on Hamilton Mountain City streets.
Also, I created a user page where I will list the "Mysterious" things about Hamilton that I have found with all my work and research of the city for the wikipedia articles. The link to that page can be found here: Mysterious Hamilton
