Orphaned non-free image File:Brentwood Town Centre logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:Brentwood Town Centre logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. RE: Onni Group Page Deletion
This discussion is related to the Onni Group article Hey Daylen,
The president of the comapny doesn't want a wikipedia page online about the company. Isn't necessarily a valid reason but there isn't a reason for this page to be existing. I work for the company and can confirm my position / relation to them.
- Would appreciate you considering deleting this page, we don't have the time to update and maintain this page. 70.36.63.2 (talk) 17:18, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
This request for help from administrators has been answered. If you need more help or have additional questions, please reapply the {{admin help}} template, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their own user talk page. |
- @70.36.63.2: As a company, you are not responsible for managing the Wikipedia article, in fact editing it is in violation of WP:COI. It is edited by a community of volunteers who use reliable secondary sources to verify the article's contents. Also, please do not blank the article, as doing so is reverted immediately. As such, you will no longer be able to edit the article (a IP user editing block has been placed on the article). Additionally, all communication is done on Wikipedia talk pages, so I have removed your email. I did a quick check of the contents of the article and they all seem to be correct. That being said, I would be happy to fix any factual errors. I have also notified a site administrator who will respond later today clarifying the official policy around this. Daylen (talk) 19:49, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- Assuming your request for admin help was in relation to "clarifying the official policy around this", Daylen, I can say that you have summed up the situation quite correctly. I have also posted a message to the IP talk page which I hope will make it clearer to the editor why his or her requests for deletion have not been accepted. I am closing your admin help request, but obviously if you want any further help you can reinstate it and say what further help you want. File:Action Center on Windows 10.png
Hi.
The Action Center on Windows 10.png image is incredibly noisy. Maybe it would help if you disable transparency before taking the screenshot. In Windows 7, transparency had a distinct effect, but in Windows 10, the effect is sometimes very hard to notice and only adds to the size of the screenshot.
Best regards,

What's new?
The Collaboration team has announced the start of a new project: In-Context Help and Onboarding. The idea is to improve retention of new wiki editors by giving them short tutorials and other training experiences related to, and triggered by, their current activities on the wikis (that’s the “in context” part). The project follows from the conclusions of the New Editor Experiences research. The work is in its very early stages, but we’d like to hear from people with ideas on the subject—particularly if you have experience supporting or training new contributors.
Map improvements 2018 [More information]
- Maps using Maplink and Mapframe functions now include an extra zoom level (level 19). This is part of the Kartographer Improvements, the number one request of the 2017 Community Wishlist survey. [32]
Edit Review Improvements [More information • Help pages]
- Number of edit to show in recent changes information text was incorrect in Special:Preferences. It has been rephrased. [33]
Notifications [More information • Help pages]
Recent changes
- You can notify users in edit summaries. They will get a ping just as if they had been mentioned on a wiki page. That new feature has been documented. [34]
- Preferences panel on Special:Notifications was overlapping other elements. This has been fixed. [35]
Future changes
- An important work is under progress to allow thanks of log entry. This is done by the Community Tech team. [36]
Structured discussions [More information • Help pages]
Recent changes
- Structured Discussions extension has been uninstalled from wikis not using it. However, it is still possible for a community to request a trial of Structured discussions. [37]
Problems
- It was not possible to opt-in and opt-out Structured discussions on wikis using it as a Beta feature. It is now fixed. [38]
Future changes
- The visual editor and 2017 wikitext editor interface is going to change for consistency. The toolbar, dialogs and menus will appear slightly bigger; some icons will look different. Content or functionality will not change. That change will apply to Structured Discussions as well. [39]

However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Speedy deletion nomination of B8ta
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on B8ta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. PamD 21:05, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
Northland Properties
I've moved your article to Draft:Northland Properties where you can work on it until it's ready for mainspace. As it is it lacks sources and is misleading. Denny's is a listed company not a subsidiary. Perhaps Northland own some franchises, but that's not clear from the information you've provided. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 06:11, 14 April 2018 (UTC)

Daylen, I don't see what we should be doing on the talk page. You are more than welcome to add such a summary on the Prime page--in fact, I'm not sure why you haven't done that yet. The article has been problematic from day one and it still is, so there is no good reason to keep it in article space the way it is. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Help with article review?
Hi Daylen,
You were kind enough to do an independent review of a re-drafted article for Letgo. I've since noticed you've written articles of your own about several consumer internet/tech companies.
I have another that might be of interest. I just spent a few days creating a redraft for the local social networking platform Nextdoor. The current article is in rough shape so I elected to just redraft instead of requesting a series of updates. The full request and link to the redraft is here: Talk:Nextdoor#Request_for_Review
I am a paid consultant to Nextdoor, as I disclose on the Talk request, so of course this proposal merits a thorough review by someone independent. If you happen to have the time, I'd be pleased to do any additional work or redrafting to make it easier for you.
BC1278 (talk) 23:03, 1 May 2018 (UTC)BC1278
Hey Daylen.
I noticed you switched to a logo file instead of the externally linked logo file. I work a lot in sandbox and it seems whenever I do that, it gets removed from patrolling editors from Wikimedia Commons. I get this message: (Removed non-free file being used in the user namespace per WP:NFCC#9 and WP:UP#Non-free images).
Anyway, that's a small point. Have you taken a look? Is a review something you can fit into your schedule or should I ask someone else?
Cheers,

Your draft article, Draft:InVision Studio
Hello, Daylen. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "InVision Studio".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
, {{db-draft}}
, or {{db-g13}}

A somewhat less daunting request
Hi again,
You were the reviewer for the redraft of Letgo one year ago. There are some small updates I've requested at Talk:Letgo#Updates_to_letgo, as per WP:COI. It would make sense for you to do it since you've already reviewed the existing article thoroughly. Might you have time?
FYI, Nextdoor redraft needs an experienced, unbiased editor as a reviewer more than ever. Talk:Nextdoor#Request_for_Review There's an editor in the discussion expressing what I consider some highly unorthodox Wikipedia views, and when I checked the article history, I see they've been deleting content from the article for 4 years, explaining why it's such a weak article despite a legion of in-depth profiles from major media and hundreds of local media sources. But I know it's a time commitment.
Best,

Disambiguation link notification for May 10
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Square, Inc., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fast Company (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 18:08, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
Collaboration on Honeywell template
I saw you're a member of WP:Companies, and I was wondering if you could lend me some of your expertise. I'm working on updating Template:Honeywell, as it's a little disorganized at the moment. I do have a paid COI, so I'm trying to find willing volunteers to help ensure that the changes I'm proposing are of good quality and Wikipedia compliant. I know this is a little outside of your scope that you listed on the wikiproject, but you seem to be one of the few active members of the wikiproject and I was hopeful you could take a look at my suggested updates.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 00:19, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Done I have made a few changes for consistency purposes, but the edit request has been fulfilled in full. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know.
- Acquired companies --> Acquisitions
- Key People --> People; merged CEO; added Board of Directors as sub category
- Placed articles in alphabetical order
- Headquarters --> Facilities
- Legal Cases and Other --> Related
- Added the red color from Honeywell logo
- Cheers, Daylen (talk) 01:52, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Syntax highlighting has been a beta feature on Wikimedia wikis with text written from left to right. It is now a normal feature. It is based on CodeMirror. [40]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 19 June at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 20 June at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Some old web browsers will not be able to read the Wikimedia wikis. This is because they use an insecure way to connect to them. This means that we get less security for everyone else too. This affects about 0.08% of all traffic to the Wikimedia wikis. This affects for example those who read Wikipedia on a PlayStation 3. [41][42]
- The new filters for edit review tools and interface for watchlists will leave beta. Because there is no new MediaWiki version this week it will happen on 25 June for most wikis. For the rest it will happen in early July. [43][44]
- All wikis that have not already done so will switch to use the Remex parsing library on 5 July. This is to replace Tidy. You can help fix remaining errors. [45]
