It’s great that you want to add information about DFLA’s conference to the article. It’s important stuff. Every contribution needs to be verifiable and cited, however. You should check out WP:V. When adding material to Wikipedia, the burden is upon the editor to support it with a reliable source, and even having a reliable source is not always enough if the changes are tangential or otherwise do not add to the understanding of the subject of an article. If an editor has reverted you, repeating the edit is not appropriate. There are ways of finding support for your position including the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle.
