request to be adopted
Per the advice of Durova and Parsifal, I am requesting to be adopted so I can learn how to handle difficult editing situations more effectively. One of the articles I edit -- Morgellons -- has a lot of POV-pushing going on and I need help understanding how to make the article more NPOV without getting sidetracked into edit wars and arguments. I would like to respond more effectively with other editors who have an agenda that is not neutral. Also, I've been advised to try a WP:RFC and need to learn how to do that. I hope to find an adopter who can help me learn how to be more effective as a Wikipedia editor especially in challenging situations. Thank you! Pez1103 10:55, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

There is another editor on this article -- Herd of Swine -- who has a website devoted to debunking Morgellons disease (www.morgellonwatch.com). I placed a notice on the COI notice board and it was removed by the administrators who said that this should go to dispute resolution. I'm not sure how to do this. (Can you help me with this?) I think that as long as Herd is allowed on this article, it will never be unbiased. He has a long history of using weasel words and cherry picking to bias the article. All of his edits and comments are focused on trying to discredit the disease. I volunteer for the MRF, so I may have a COI too. Maybe we should both be blocked from the article. Right now I am the only person on that article who believes that there is the possibility that the disease may be real. Thatcher has been overseeing all of the edits and is working to try to create a less biased article (see her sandbox), but I think that even if she succeeds, as long as Herd remains, it will just revert back, so it will just be a short term fix. Herd is retired and spends all day, every day, devoted to debunking the disease. No one else has that kind of time. I know other people who have tried to edit on wikipedia who believe that the disease is real, but they all give up eventually because of all the mean spirited hostility directed at them. Hola Mentors!
Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors
Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.
I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so they need to be nice. If any students misbehave (tho I don’t expect it) don’t hesistate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!

Simple French wikipedia-like site
