A study on how to cover scientific uncertainties/controversies

[edit]

Hi. I would like to ask whether you would agree to participate in a short survey on how to cover scientific uncertainties/controversies in articles pertaining to global warming and climate change (survey described here). If interested, please get in touch via my talkpage or email me Encyclopaedia21 (talk) 15:16, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Manila

[edit]

The article Manila you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Manila for things which need to be addressed. Pyrotec (talk) 10:51, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thanks bro! Harel (Not what you think?)

Manila

[edit]

I respect your efforts on the Manila article and will therefore desist from editing it where we may disagree. I wish to say, however, that inserting the in front of Metropolitan Manila is in my view awkward grammar.

the Metropolitan Manila Area – correct
Metropolitan Manila – correct
the metropolis – correct
the Metropolitan Manila – awkward

That last wording makes it seem you are possibly talking about a landmark like a hotel or museum (e.g. the Metropolitan Hotel, the Metropolitan Museum, the Peninsula Manila).

The phrase "affording it megacity status" is also awkward. "Afford" implies payment and while the idea still comes across it seems imprecise or too colloquial. It is also extraneous detail that refers to Metro Manila not Manila proper. Since this is happening in the lead, the reader may be misled on what the article is about. Going by the megacity article, megacity by definition is a metropolitan area so Manila proper would not fit the definition of megacity. Lambanog (talk) 03:26, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images found on the Internet

[edit]

I've found several images of yours where the actual source was not you, but a site on the Internet. For example, File:Arellano University.JPG. In this case, the image is even watermarked. Please be aware that you can't claim copyright (and subsequently release rights) on something you just found on the Internet somewhere. The people who took those images are the rights holders, and you can not take their rights without their permission. If you find something on the Internet that you want to use, we have to be able to confirm that it is available under a free license. Without that ability to do so, the images you upload will be deleted. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 13:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Too-short articles

[edit]

Hi. Please don't write single-sentence stubs, especially about a subject which does not yet exist. Thanks. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 04:23, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on So Cal Loco (Party Like a Rockstar) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Malcolma (talk) 16:17, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:ArellanoUniversityLogo.gif

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:ArellanoUniversityLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:53, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tabernacle of Faith International requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:TFCA School logo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:TFCA School logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Non-free rationale for File:TFCA School logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TFCA School logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Image tagging for File:TFCA School.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TFCA School.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
