Gail Koff page
Please Alansohn" do not place the "contentious" divorce information back on the Gail Koff page. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia which is suppose to provide information similar to an encyclopedia written by the public. It should not have information gathered from questionable sources that have misinformation. It should not have personal damaging information about people. the information in the newspapers about Gail Koff's divorce was exagerated and incorrect. Ralph Brill is not a lawyer as stated in one paper quoted by someone on Wiki. The prenubtual aggreement did not contain information about sexual content. Yes there was disagreement about financial settlement that was resolved in court - that is it. This was a difficult situation for Gail and Ralph. Gail's family does not want this information in Wiki. Please do not put it in as you have done again and again. Gail was an unusual wonderful competant, understanding, compassionate,BRDSKoff44 (talk) 14:44, 22 September 2010 (UTC) person who should be remembered as that.

James Stovall DYK nomination
Hi, just to let you know I made a comment on your James Stovall DYK nomination. Others may be fine with the hook as it is, and I know many similar hooks sail through without being questioned (including more obvious cases such as "restaurant reviewer praises restaurant", "meteorologist gets a job as a meteorologist", etc) but it would be great to find a hookier hook if possible. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 21:52, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

I ask because you were always a vandalism fighter. Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:58, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Again, thanks for asking. I had been doing a ton of vandalism reverts and I realized that it was keeping me from editing and creating articles. I've been away from Huggle for a few months now, but I'm sure that the Huggle bug will bite me again soon. Alansohn (talk) 23:01, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Al, wow, how awesome are you. I was thinking about creating this article myself, because I've always thought that Gerry Lesser deserved his own article. I've been too busy adding content to the main Sesame Street article and a few of its sister articles, though. I also learned that Lesser had unfortunately passed away; he truly was one of the unsung heroes of Sesame Street and the SW. I'd like to expand his article somewhat, since I have access to the many sources that mention him and his role. I'll try and take that on in the coming days. In the meantime, thanks for creating the article and for all the great work you do for this project. Christine (talk) 12:20, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Updated DYK noms
FYI. I updated the DYK noms for Venues of the 1896 Summer Olympics and Venues of the 1904 Summer Olympics if you wish to look. Both should be above the 1500 character minimum in terms of prose. Chris (talk) 19:48, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

- Different hook for Venues of the 1904 Summer Olympics used. Chris (talk) 20:13, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi there; of course, a new difficulty is that David Applebaum, to which the article now redirects, was created in 2008 by Susan Sowerby who is/was a sockpuppet of a blocked user. If I wanted to be really confrontational I could now block this article under G5 as well. I do not, however, have any intention of being even slightly confrontational; but the possibility is there that another admin may do it. I shall watch with interest, while taking no active part. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:13, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- Per G5, the article doesn't meet the "which have no substantial edits by others" test, meaning that it would not be a candidate for speedy deletion. This whole situation is a mess and I hope that there can be some constructive work done to improve these articles. Alansohn (talk) 20:17, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Austin Volk
I saw your comments at the DYK prep area for the Austin Volk article: I am fascinated by the different state legislators-their lives and careers. They are far more interesting then their counterparts in Congress. I have told User:Orlady this once or twice. Also I am a member of WP-Wisconsin and spend lots of my time reverting vandalism concerning Wisconsin articles. Sometimes, I need to go into a different area like Austin Volk in your state to relieve the stress of reverting vandalism in the Wisconsin WP. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 21:08, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I was just looking for something to do on the DYK page and noticed your comment. Looking at the article, it appears that all the sentences after footnote 2 are covered by footnote 8. Best, Yoninah (talk) 21:54, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
Marshall Flaum
Hi. I noticed you're working on the Flaum article. I had last week started an article on him, but somehow saved it under the wrong first name --- Michael Flaum. The article I created will need to be deleted, but before I do that, feel free to grab any of the content or sourcing there and add it to the article. 23:26, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- I know that I had done a search for Flaum to see if anything existed. That's bizarre that you created the article under the wrong name. There's a lot there that can be merged and it's a rather unlikely redirect, so don't do anything rash with the article. Alansohn (talk) 00:26, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

This edit contains too much direct copying from the New York Times article you cite as a source. The detail added is welcome but paraphrasing is necessary to avoid extensive blocks of quoted text. Fred Talk 07:34, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Edit
Was this edit constructive? Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:19, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- If it was up to me I'd keep the article as is, but I understand the concern that the song is not independently notable. Before thinking about reverting I would try to find some reliable and verifiable sources to add to the article. Alansohn (talk) 23:09, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, and I made a mistake on Huggle today by reverting an edit by a user who remove a comment such as this edit.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Wayne Olajuwon (talk • contribs)
- The problem that I've seen with Huggle is that there is so much real vandalism that after a while a lot of perfectly legitimate edits start to look like vandalism and you start developing a hair trigger that marks legitimate edits as vandalism. Sometimes it's better to take an extra second or two to look through an edit and make sure that your not undoing edits that are constructive. Alansohn (talk) 15:59, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know. Sometimes there also edits reverted that I don't think are vandalism, so they still revert it on Huggle. Wayne Olajuwon chat 19:46, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Did I insult you?
If I insulted you by going ahead and approving a DYK hook that you were working on, I apologize. I noticed today that you jumped in with a review of the hook that I was in the middle of reviewing and waiting for the nominator's response, so I thought maybe you were miffed by my behavior. The only time I ever did something like that was when the nominator submitted his changes but the reviewer hadn't looked at it for 24 hours. (I see Rlevse doing this all the time.) If it bothers you, I won't do it again, and I'd appreciate your not doing it to me either, as I try to keep close tabs on unfinished nominations. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:42, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry? Yes. Insulted? Not at all. With you, me and other reviewers checking out DYKs simultaneously, we're bound to step on each other's toes at some point. Sorry that I got involved with a DYK you were reviewing, but I only butted in because I thought it was an older nom that was at risk of falling through the cracks. Please accept my apologies for my most inadvertent error. Alansohn (talk) 19:46, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Edit request
Hi, there's an incomplete sentence in Eric Joisel. The second to last sentence of the third paragraph reads: "Though his work was displayed at the Musée du Louvre and collectors from around the world paid as much as thousands of dollars for some of his origami sculptures, the tremendous amount of time that he devoted to each work." I assume that you were probably going somewhere about him not getting rich from his talent, but I'll let you fix it as you intended. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 01:52, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I would have sworn that the words were there, but I must have accidentally deleted them. Thanks for actually reading the article and spotting the error. It has been corrected. Alansohn (talk) 01:57, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
