Contested deletion
[edit]Hi, thanks for message. I note that you have been an editor for just two weeks, but your handful of article edits are mostly for this article and for the school and college attended by Manas Madrecha. If you have a conflict of interest when editing this article, you must declare it.
I deleted the article because it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that he meets the notability guidelines. I appreciate that as a new user you may not be aware that sources that are not acceptable include those linked to him, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the he claims or interviewing him. Most, if not all of the refs fail on these criteria.
As far as I can see, he is a student who has been elected to his non-notable college council, has a non-notable blog and has self-published some non-notable poems. He has chosen to self-promote here. How is he notable in any meaningful sense?
I haven't yet decided the best way forward on this, but I would in any case like you to clarify whether you have a conflict of interest when editing this cluster of articles, and to help me understand how he meets the notability criteria linked above. Do you have any genuine independent third-party references that refer to him? If not, there is no point restoring, since the random collection of self-editable sources, blogs do not inspire confidence. If I do restore after you reply, it is likely that the article at some point will either be renominated either for speedy deletion or a deletion discussion Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:23, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Jimfbleak - talk to me? for sparing your precious time to respond. With regards to the person, he is a public figure of Thane and Mulund cities of Maharashtra, India being a student leader and notable enough that the college, of which he is the representative, has been referred with the "Best College Award University of Mumbai 2005" by India Today ranking it as 31st all over India in Commerce and 27th all over India in Science, being the first affiliated college in Maharashtra accredited with a 5-satr. [1][2][3] Yet, the unreliable references and claims will be removed as soon as the the article is restored back. I am not related with the person in any manner (so, no conflict of interest), though being a student leader of suburban areas of Mumbai city, he is well-known to thousands, including me (but no personally), and doesn't need self-promotion. In any case, the future outcome of the article will be decided then by discussion on talk page, if ever renominated, though unlikely. As of now, the article surely doesn't fall under G11 or A7, and would be kind of you to restore it back. AlicePeston (talk) 06:56, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
