Giti Souri (Persian: گیتی سوری; July 15, 1962 – May 16, 2011) was an Iranian teacher and special educator.

Giti was born in Mashhad-Iran of father Noreldin Souri and mother Nadereh Maleki. She was the first child of 3 children in her family. Her father was a military officer, her mother was housewife. During her childhood and because of her father’s job in army her family moved a lot in different cities and areas in Kurdistan in Iran. Finely her family settled down in city of Kermanshah. Later her father finished her job in army and her family moved to Tehran. Giti was known as very ambition among her whole relatives and family. Her serious concentration on her study was always succeed. Later after her high school she directly choose to study at university to become a teacher. Opposite a tradition in Iran as many families wanted to their dotter got marry after university. Giti never wanted to get marry. She always was into philosophy and deep thoughts. She was an Open-minder and modernism as female, during her life in Tehran. She has started working at elementary school from beginning of her career and continued toward the high school in the end, before she immigrated to Sweden. There she united her brother Mehdi Souri, whom has immigrated to Sweden 9 years earlier. After couple of years that she had learn Swedish. She decided to get educated and work as special educator at high schools in Östersund in state of Jämtland. During her life in Sweden she has helped many times that her family could visit them in Sweden, and almost each year the whole family where there, specially her parents. Because of the quality of her work and care. She became very famous among work mates in different schools and also many students in high schools. Because of cold weather in that particular area in Sweden, slowly she had got sort of illness so called Asthma. For a few years she suffered of this illness, but no doctors could find anything serious. But because of her strong will and motivation to help students and work, she never had stop working. During start of April 2011, she quickly got serious illness in which just during 2 weeks she became paralyzed on her left arm.  The third week, she could not even walk. She had to move to hospital in Östersund. There the doctors realized that has lung cancer, even she never smoked before. After 10 days in hospital, they had to transform her to the bigger hospital in Umeå, which there was better equipment for disease. During the first 10 days in Umeå, she seemed became better. Her family in Tehran and also her brother in Östersund had hope that she will become better and continue live. After 2 weeks treatment in Umeå hospital on May 16, 2011, Suddenly Giti couldn’t breathe anymore and she passed away. The investigations during her live showed that her Cancer was not recently become a problem. It showed, she might had a few years Cancer, without she knowing it. But she always complained on cold weather, even she worked hard for the society. Her death was deep shocked for her family, and specially for her parents in Tehran. During her life in Sweden, she also has supported and helped an Iranian widow with three small children in Tehran. Three different ceremonies were made after her death.
