Help please

Hi Anna, The Nutrition and pregnancy article is just terrible. I happened to notice it when I was editing the Pregnancy article nutrition section. The author is long gone and nobody is working on it. No article is better than such a crappy one. If you agree, could you see that it gets deleted? Thanks. Gandydancer (talk) 13:10, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. I've been wrapped up in another matter. Yes, that article could use work. I can't get it deleted though. :) Maybe it just needs some work. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:30, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Whoops!

See this comment at AfD. - Sitush (talk) 16:17, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

I reckon merge might be best, but I could be wrong. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:29, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Merge is fine, since the list exists (I didn't realise that). But he doesn't like me, does he? - Sitush (talk) 16:37, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
My mistake. I've been busy in the silver sandbox. I nominated merge without actually checking the article. Lots of entries at List of shopping malls in India have no refs, but in this case, I must agree: refs or deletion. By the way, Wikipedia likes you, and so do I. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:49, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

I've gotten a genuine headache over this user. I am within one more bad edit or accusation of bias of reinstating that indef block. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:31, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

He's gotten 4 editors to spend hours and .5 million keystrokes on this. Is he having fun with us, or is this a competency matter, or trolling, or what? Whatever way, this has caused a major drain. As long as he's not editing destructively in the main space, I'm happy. He can talk to me, but I'm not interested in much dialogue. It just doesn't lead anywhere.
What I'm after is to settle his products listed in the silver sandbox. Delete/merge/keep them, then keep an eye on him, and we can all get back to what we were doing before this happened. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:38, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Good point. I was leaving a message for Sitush when you and I had an edit conflict. Basically, he reminds me of a couple of very clever trolls we had a few years back. One pretended to be a mentally challenged young man in Maine who was writing about much the same minutiae, i.e., substubs on unimportant shopping centers in the Portland area. The other wrote in broken English and had everyone convinced that he was a Brazilian with a penchant for "hot Jewish sluts." I blocked him at one point but the block was lifted. Finally, someone saw him for what he was and lowered the boom for good. He tried avoiding the block a few times with markedly improved English, but I'm glad to say he's given up. I'm reliving those nightmares in this user as I type. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:44, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

I've learned my lesson too with the Great Dog Meat Fiasco of 2010. I doubt he's a clever troll. He's been around for too long and has produced a fair bit, but let's put a lid on this one. We've got better things to do. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:52, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Durn tootin'. It seems to be a moot point since he's now on a community ban against creating new articles and I need to get to work on more profitable things, so I'll say goodbye and thanks for all you do. If anything good has come out of this, it's the privilege of having met and worked with you. Take care.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:57, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Likewise. I feel a special bond with all of you, like that which is acquired by those sharing a perilous journey through a land of brain-eating zombies, and coming out alive. :) See you in therapy. :) Ok, even I had to laugh at that one. :) :) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:09, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, I'm stopping "work" to eat a curry I made yesterday. I fancied then but, tbh, I'm not sure I can face Indian food and all these cock-eyed Indian articles right now. Time will tell. Hic. - Sitush (talk) 18:17, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah Jinx! I just wrote you with the same. Enjoy the curry. Hit it with a bit of plain yogurt. Yum. Here in China, every little shop has a pile of coconuts. The soft insides blended and then added to curry is lovely. I think I'll make a nice goat curry tomorrow, in fact. Mmmmmm. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:24, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Request

Anna you seem to be intelligent person. There are many single line stubs started by you like Halgerda formosa and Comitas raybaudii with no references, I would request you to stop targeting specifically targeting my work and improve the stubs started by you. We both can make some good contributions to Wikipedia. Lets finish the thing and start doing some positive work. Kindly don't keep challenging me. Mahesh Kumar Yadav (talk) 09:13, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

You are WRONG, Mahesh. Look at the article history for Halgerda formosa. When Anna set it up there was a reference. Someone else has subsequently removed it. Please stop being childish and please stop making unfounded accusations. - Sitush (talk) 09:17, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Got to earn some money. Will return to fixing issues later today. Reviewed your work, Anna, and will add comments later. Mahesh, instead of going around attacking people and trying to dig up dirt, why not spend some of your time improving the articles which you have created? It would be A Good Thing to do. - Sitush (talk) 09:19, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
When I first started at Wikipedia, I created a lot of gastropod groups, families, subfamilies, clades, etc., to fill in a framework. This was with the support of the gastropod project team.
After that, I made a lot of stubs that had only a single reference. These have value because most have synonyms and/or authority etc. They all have taxonomic information. Plus, species are generally considered notable. I was surprised to see the references missing in your examples. Gastropod taxonomy is in flux, so perhaps the reference became invalild. But, you will notice, I have never, ever, made a stub or article with no references. Finally, images are added to such stubs at a far greater rate than villages. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:29, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Kindly check all the articles listed on your user page. Many are un-referenced. Kindly provide reference in them. Clean your home first, before pointing fingers. Thanks. Mahesh Kumar Yadav (talk) 09:31, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
I will check. Thank you.
Continuing... But that was when I was very new. I have since reconsidered making such stubs unless they contain more useful information. Why have I reconsidered? Because I discussed it with the community. It was 50 - 50. After that, I created stubs that I expanded or others expanded. See my user page "Bees" and "Ants". Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:37, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
You might be pleased to know that I am no longer challenging your creation of stubs. This is because you are no longer allowed to create stubs, and I am busy sorting out what you've already created.
But far more important for you is that I am directly challenging your copyright violations. That is a much more serious matter, for which you may be indefinitely blocked. Perhaps you should concern yourself with that. Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:44, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Unref'd articles

I wish I had the answer to your concern, Anna. There was a period her on this site where every little contentless substub was sacrosanct and not to be deleted if the subject was notable enough. I had a few knock down-drag outs over those. I think that a lot of that same attitude is still evident, although I thank heaven that it isn't as prevalent as it used to be. That said, I was alerted to our friend Mahesh canvassing for sympathy under the premise of anti-India bias. Check out the message from Sitush on my talk page. He is, as far as I'm concerned, over the line and I'm about to personally block and revert him at this point. PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:46, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

I just checked it out and commented there. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:57, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Anna. I mean, come on. He did an article called Cactus Garden now up for AfD. I live in the desert and I know what a cactus garden is. Got a few in my yard, in fact.  :) Trouble is, the title is entirely unrelated to the article! English is not his first language and anyone who still doesn't understand basic titling conventions after five years should not be editing this site. "Being had" sums it up well. PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:09, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
I think Cactus Garden might be the local/common use name for it, although when I proposed for AfD I did not realise this. A rather embarrassing proposal in retrospect but, hey, it is difficult to find decent sources for something using a dodgy title. - Sitush (talk) 00:13, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

I thought ...

... you might like this, since the nuclear mop hit a few hours ago. - Sitush (talk) 05:05, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

FYI

Hey there!
I saw you proposed an indefinite block on MKY at exactly 0525 hrs on May 13, 2011. Bu now I see that the proposition you made has already been archived~ And also there is a piece of info on MKY talk page saying Threads older than 15 days may be archived by MiszaBot. I believe that MKY should change it to Threads older than 15 hours may be archived by MiszaBot. If he wants to archive your proposition! See you around!
GaneshBhakt (talk) 08:47, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for tell me. It might be moot now, as there a community ban proposal currently underway. Cheers. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:30, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Apology

I apologizes if my words or acts have hurt you in any ways. Thanks.

My question at ANI

Let me take this off the drama board and ask here, because I'm confused about the sequence of events. First, I'm actually concerned about 2 different things: 1) should the article userfied by Salvio (and any other in a similar state) have been deleted, and, 2) when exactly were they created and sourced? Looking at the times, it appears that the Punjab stubs, such as that one created at 8:51 May 12, were created before Salvio formally enacted the community ban at 17:50 May 12. That means that those articles were not created in breach of any sanctions. Yes, they were done in breach of a pretty clearly forming consensus, but if we're talking about considering a full sitewide ban, that's a bit extreme. More importantly, though, it seems like those articles are sourced in exactly the manner that we would source sub-stubs on human settlements.

In other words, I'm seeing two things. First, I'm seeing the deletion of a bunch of articles with inherent notability and sources that verify existence being deleted out of frustration (I'm going to ask PMDrive to take a look at this also, since xe was the one who actually did the deletion). Second, I'm seeing an editor who, granted, is a huge pain, but who just might be learning, albeit painfully slowly. In other words, I'm seeing someone for whom a ban seems to be a bit extreme. I'm seeing someone who, instead, might be able to be put under very tight formal mentoring, and who could be blocked immediately for working outside of the grounds of those restrictions.

On the other hand, I went AWOL during the majority of the cleanup, so I'd like your input here. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:05, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Qwyrxian. I will reply in point form to address every concern:
  • The Punjabs were created before the ban -- moments before.
  • Several editors were posting "Stop, please stop.", yet he ignored us and they went live.
  • They went live with refs included.
  • They were not in breach of sanctions.
  • Although sourced village microstubs, the same as, for example, sourced gastropod microstubs, are inherently notable, the community was against these. The reason, as Dr. Blofeld pointed out, is here (Search string: "I urge him to respect the community views") When Ganeshk was mass-producing sourced gastropod microstubs and there were complaints, he stopped. When I was, and I asked at a wikiproject whether or not they were useful, it was 50-50, so I stopped. And, gastropod microstubs are immediately far more useful, and accumulate content far more rapidly.
  • The community ban from Wikipedia is not merely about the stubs. Please read his talk page including the archives. It is more than justified. In fact, it was late. The system failed. This editor was producing breakway copyvio, unformatted, unreferenced, pointless stubs for ages before detected.
  • Mentoring would be a disaster and a further drain on resources. This editors has demonstrated incompetence in making simple contributions, and is incorrigible. He's been here for 5 years and can't even conform to MOS. A mentor would simply end up as a mom barking at deaf ears, running around picking up toys.
  • If you want to pursue this Punjab matter, and defend this editor that's your choice. Please keep in mind, we're still cleaning up debris from Hurricane Katrina, and have little patience for follow-up paperwork too. This took days of our lives -- dozens of hours, and there are more to come. You will likely be met with a very curt and sharp reception. Please read his talk and archives before embarking on any campaign.
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:52, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm trying to help in debris cleanup now myself. I'm working my way through Silver (although real life will likely pull me away shortly). It's interesting that you bring up Dr. Blofeld's comments, given that he is also a prolific sub-stub creator, who has been brought to ANI numerous times for fairly similar issues, and yet because xe managed to establish xyrself as a "veteran editor" first, xe is never sanctioned for those creations. I am still thinking about what to do...I've already written up a request to ANI to not actually enact a ban yet, but I haven't posted it, as I still don't know if I want to do so or not. Obviously, if I make such a proposal, I'm also effectively proposing to be the mentor, so the question is whether or not its worth it for me. The relevant issue, I guess, is whether or not there is anything worthwhile in Mahesh's contributions besides raw enthusiasm, that would offset the numerous problems he's caused. Please don't get me wrong--I see in Mahesh an editor who has caused tremendous damage (in terms of time spent by you, Sitush, and others)...but I'm still caught by the question of whether we are preventing future disruption with a ban, or punishing past disruption. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:58, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
I thought the thoughts of Blofeld were a bit pot/kettle also, but the issue of who said it is not the significant factor. The significant bit is what was said. - Sitush (talk) 01:09, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Qwyrxian: A mentor, who would otherwise be building an encyclopedia, would be dumping vast amounts of keystrokes on mentoring, cleaning up, and this would likely all end in tears with 5 editors blowing keystrokes at ANI two months from now.
The stubs were the smallest issue, and the easiest to rectify. That is not what is behind this ban discussion. Have you read his talk including archive 1? Have you seen silver? I am astonished. This is a case of him going rogue, ignoring community consensus, copyvios, sloppy edits, lack of concern for guidelines, and overall incompetence. There is overwhelming evidence that he has acted in bad faith, and is a liability. Regarless of his current statements or even newfound intentions, he will likely continue to be. This is not an emotional issue. This is a pragmatic response to a highly destructive editor. Do you really think he's acting in good faith because he suddenly says he is? I respect you a great deal, but if you really think that the remedy is mentoring, I must question whether or not your motivation is emotionally-based, i.e. pity. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:19, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Please decide what you think is best from a non-emotional point of view. Imagine if this editor were software, and not a person. Would you allow it to continue running? Historically, even when hobbled, this "software" made redirects (a bad judgement call considering the stub creation ban), continued to defend his work, continued to make sloppy edits, and embarked upon a self defense campaign. The software did not attempt to undo damage, or act constructively. I, personally, pragmatically, unemotionally, would like to delete the software. This is not about punishment. It is about estimating the magnitude of net gain/loss to the project should the software continue to operate. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:38, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
This is the same approach I'm taking. The thing is, I see, in the stubs, and actual improvement. I see, with regards to the POV problems, a decrease in that activity. What I see is an editor who has gotten just about everything wrong, but who has motivation (albeit much of it misplaced), a vague understanding of what it means to build knowledge, but who doesn't understand what that means from a Wikipedia perspective. I definitely see an editor who is coming from a culture radically different from my own, one that I know works in fundamentally different ways with regards to things like copyright and neutrality. And what I wonder is, if we laid down an extraordinarily strict set of rules for editing, and worked through the issues one at a time (it is certainly the case that because Mahesh messed up in so many different ways, they suddenly got bombarded with a whole bunch of different concerns across many different pages from many different editors)...if we did that, could we end up with an editor who does understand policy and can help address the well-known and vast problems we have regarding Indian articles? I don't know. But it seems to me that the risk is extremely small--essentially, it's my time I'm putting on the line, along with whatever small amount of time I need to borrow from other editors when I need additional input. The second Mahesh starts re-interpreting his restrictions, I'll just find the most convenient admin to slap on an indefinite block, and he can pursue the WP:Standard offer. I'm going to see what the ANI crowd thinks of the offer I made and his response. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:40, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Credo account

Still no word on the Credo Reference thing, but I guess you know that.

You should have received an email by now. Did you? Viriditas (talk) 23:17, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes! I got it. Sorry, I forgot to tell you. As you can see, I've been 'held up'. Thanks again for that tip. I can't wait to use it. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:21, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Me, too! I've been a little frustrated with it so far but that may be more to do with other events. I'm really hopeful, though, & have added my name to the mailing list doo-dah just in case I can learn something from more experienced peeps. The offer was extremely generous & if it turns out not to be as useful to me as I thought it would be then I'll be making sure that the account does not go to waste by communicating that fact. As I understand it, the accounts can go back into a pool, which is an excellent idea. - Sitush (talk) 23:47, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
I just tried searching exact matches for a dozen strings, including the following. They all came up no hits. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
  • Frederick L. Schuman
  • Pigeon pie
  • Montefiore Club
  • Frank Moolin, Jr.
  • Moscow Symphony Orchestra
  • Nelson Mandela Children's Fund
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:53, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
That was my problem, when trying to source stuff for an article that has been moved from German WP using Google Translate or something like that. Some inexperienced NPP CSD'd it, I straightaway realised that the subject was important and might even be notable, then when following through I tried Credo. Got nowhere. But Mr Google was my friend. I'm not quite sure how Mr Google knows so much, but I am glad to know him. I'm not qualified to take the article much further, but I've taken it to a point that more than warrants its existence - Felix Somary.
Subsequently, I ran some other search terms through Credo and met with a similar zero result. I cannot recall the searches offhand. However, I will persevere for a while and if it does turn out to be rather useless for my needs then I'll turn the account in, as I mentioned above. - Sitush (talk) 00:18, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
I could be wrong, but my understanding is that Credo is best for fact-checking biographies (such as birth and death dates) and basic historical data. Viriditas (talk) 00:38, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Ahhh. I see. Okay. I will work it from that angle and see. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:05, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Help

Hi Anna, as you have more experience in matters WP:AFD than I do, do you think Halal e-marketplace qualifies. I would say so based on WP:ADVERT, WP:NOTABILITY and WP:ORPHAN but I'd appreciate your valuable second opinion. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 00:56, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

I will look into it. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:20, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Looks like PROD fodder to me:
  • There are 3 refs. One is a 404 website. The others I can't check.
  • It doesn't seem to pass WP:GNG because of: there is no "Significant coverage", and nothing I could find "Independent of the subject"
  • It reads like a promo.
  • Google gives me industy listings only.
  • There're a few bits a pieces on specific companies that operate within this industry, such as this. (This site appears to be taken from Wikipedia, so probably not a copyvio.)
  • No news.
  • Sources show the industry exists, but that's all.
Doesn't seem be appropriate as part of an encyclopedia. Just my two cents. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:41, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Anna, when this Copyedit drive is out of the way I will submit it at AFD. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 21:53, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Westerners should not take offense to associating horse meat and dog meat consumption

The meats I have listed are viewed in similar/logical consequence here in American culture, and in readership of English Wikipedia, namely American people typically find consumption of the following meats: cat, dog, horse among various others as unusual or even immoral. I understand your need to maintain a certain level of white pride and Asian cultural-secessionism, and make an outright disconnect in these taboo meat articles relative to dog meat, which have their largest proportion of consumers in such places as China, Korea and Vietnam: whereas cat and horse meat the partiality toward the eastern/central Asians and that of non-Asians is far less. But this is nothing to do with proper presentation of white people's eating habits, or the eating habits of American's closest ally nations should be seen. The inclusion of horse meat in the See Also section constitutes a consistent American reader-observation of relevant facts and comparative study to the culture of eating these animals to which American and other "democratized" people should objectively examine, and not feel humiliated, like how the editors and Dog meat article-controllers here are doing here by omitting direct reader-access to these relevant articles for comparative examination. Of course, as difficult as it may be for some of you to accept, the link to horse meat and other relevant "taboo meats" will be included in the See Also section. 99.130.8.150 (talk) 02:49, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Best keep this at Talk:Dog meat. Your edit summary statement that I "...feel the need to be in control of the Dog meat article..." is not exactly true. I only control articles M-Z. Qwyrxian handles all articles A-L. It keeps us pretty busy, but the sheer power rush makes it all worthwhile. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:46, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Macaroni art

I just realized that Wikipedia doesn't have an article on macaroni art. I thought you might find that funny. ;) Viriditas (talk) 07:51, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Ooooh, al dente! That's right up my alley. But I would need a clever way to get " Fusilli Jerry" in there. But how? Pasta art doesn't get as many google hits as macaroni art. Hmmmmm.
This reminds me that I've been thinking of starting Nail art or expanding Fingernail to include all sorts of stuff. I can't remember if I asked you about it. Here is what I wrote a year ago, but think, never sent it to you:
I'm toying with the idea of writing something about it. A lot of (village) men here have a long, revolting pinky or thumb nail. It means that they are not workers, because workers can't work with long nails. I've seen this in a number of countries. Then there is that strange one-black-fingernail thing all over the world. Other aspects of this whole thing are: social symbology (like the aforementioned revolting nail thing), artificial nails, nail painting/art, polish, manicures, fetishism, sexuality, and even longest fingernails and why.
Is this unencyclopedic?
Scratching around, I have found on Wikipedia:
Is this a stupid idea?
You just gave me a great idea. M, as he is now known to half of Wikipedia, likes to make articles. Maybe there is some really cool India-related subject. Something that's very cool, very interesting. I see photographs, diagrams, history... I will post and ask. Thanks! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:07, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
I think you're right; pasta art is a more inclusive term and allows us to widen the scope. I'll look for refs. Viriditas (talk) 07:11, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Agree. Feel free to give it a couple of days. I probably won't start till then. I still need to work on the "M Affair". Plus, I don't want to see you do all the work. And, you're still up to your knackers in climate email stuff.
This kind of article is just the therapy I (and maybe you) need. It's like hanging out with 5-year-old kids after a tough day at the office. All your cares melt away. (Until one kid whips leggo at another kid and then she freaks out bites him on the stomach and all hell breaks loose and you have to clunk their heads together. Kidding.) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:20, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Heh. Only problem is I can't find a single good source. Only web sites and stuff. There are some sources about "pasta crafts", though. Strange, isn't it, that something so common has no reliable sources? Viriditas (talk) 07:23, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Same. All craft how-to sites. What did we expect? Are kids reliable sources? Those little monkeys could write a book. Paste vs. white glue, proper glitter distribution, you name it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:30, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

He started painting in Moscow to express his thoughts and emotions which he could not express in his writings.
His first art exhibition in India after his return from Russia titled 'We Have Come Far' received wide media coverage and appreciation.

Para (under artistic activities)

His artistic activities began when he returned one Saturday in August 2005 highly inspired from the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. He rushed to the Central House of Artists where he bought oil colours, paint brushes and canvas then rushed back to his flat to paint his first work 'Eternal Love'. But could not gather enough courage to spoil the newly purchased canvas and therefore painted on the back side of the choclate box which had just been emptied. A few weeks later he was invited by Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Association of Artists to paint in his art studio in Moscow. In Zurab's studio he painted his second art work 'Between Hope and Despair.'

Media bias in India - keep/merge/delete discussion

I've got myself in a pickle with procedure by not opening a discussion about Media bias in India on the article talk page. I didn't realise that it would become quite as lengthy an analysis of possibilities as it has in fact become. I have informed MKY, as the article creator, and thought that I should inform you since you commented at Silver about it. I'll also inform Qwyrxian, as probable mentor.

Right now, the discussion is at User_talk:Sadads. I'm wondering about asking whether it would be ok to paste it verbatim to the article TP. - Sitush (talk) 17:59, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Sitush filed a request at contributor copyright investigations regarding Maheshkumaryadav. As a CCI clerk, I am considering whether to open an investigation. I note that a "private" CCI of sorts is going on at User:Anna Frodesiak/Silver sandbox. The list of mainspace contributions generated by the CCI survey tool is here. The list includes all contributions (i.e. non-reverts) which added at least 150 bytes and will look something like this on-wiki. In order to reduce duplicated effort, I ask the following questions:

  1. How is your list generated (e.g. all articles created by this user)?
  2. Should I move/list/copy/whatever your page under the CCI umbrella?
  3. If I open the investigation, how should we coordinate our efforts?

Thanks. MER-C 05:29, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

  1. I generated the list from the link entitled "To see all results, please go to this link" that used to appear at the bottom of the toolserver url showing his articles created. That link no longer appears because many of his articles have been deleted.
  2. Feel free to take a copy of the list if you like. But please allow User:Anna Frodesiak/Silver sandbox to remain there.
  3. It might be best to give us a day or two to remove the remaining "pink" items. After that, the silver sandbox will no longer be needed, and coordination will not be necessary. In fact, I think that all copyright issues that we were looking into on the silver sandbox have been resolved. Consider asking User:Sitush if that is, in fact, the case. And, FYI, we will soon move the silver sandbox to a permanent location per an admin's advice.
Any further questions, please ask. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:58, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Got it. I'll wait until you've completed checking article creations, after which we can tackle the rest of his major contributions at CCI. Thanks for helping clean up this mess. MER-C 07:59, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Anna has done wonderful work with this. I thought that the situation was messy but having taken a look at the example CCI reports linked to by MER-C, well, all I can say is that my respect for those involved in CCI, which was already high mainly due to various pieces of advice from User:Moonriddengirl and User:NortyNort, has risen ten-fold. I can't make head nor tail of those reports!
To the best of my knowledge, we have now covered all of the copyvio issues raised in the Silver sandbox. Some of them were in fact unattributed copy/pastes from other WP articles, but by no means all of them were such. Some of the copy/paste situations remain but they are subject to AfD discussion, PRODs etc and I would like to think that those processes will resolve the issues. The chances of myself, Anna and one or two others having picked up all of the likely vios are at best "moderate-to-good". I wouldn't rule out the possibility of others existing in the created articles. I've never dealt with copyvio investigations on this scale, involving one user, and the extent of my admiration for those that do is matched by my despair that they occur. - Sitush (talk) 23:30, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your advices and help!

I am a girl, not used to all HTML Codes and try my best to make the page "new". I am thankful for any revises, especially if there are lacks in language.

Merger proposals

Just FYI, the discussion of a merger should go onto the talk page of the article that will remain (the target article). Usually, that article will be better watched as it's usually the larger, more established article. For Talk:"None of the above" voting option in India and Talk:Police use of torture in India, I copied over your comments on the source talk pages to the target talk pages. Note that in the merger template itself, the link is set up to go to the target article (which you set up correctly). I'm now going to leave a comment on both source articles asking any comments to go to the target. Qwyrxian (talk) 02:25, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I thought I did. Sorry. My mistake. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:40, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I can't even follow my own instructions. :) Thanks for looking after that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:47, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Heh, you're welcome. I still forget to sign my talk page posts on occasion. As you saw from Sitush's post on my talk page, merging is one of the more annoying procedures to follow, especially if you're used to doing things like AfD via Twinkle. Qwyrxian (talk) 03:25, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Confused about the McAndrews Estate Page

Hi,

I'm a bit confused by your proposed deletion of my McAndrews Estate page. The main reference is the 'History of the Town of Cortlandt', not the NY Times articles. The 'History' has been in print, available at major booksellers in NY since 1988. This is an area of historical significance that has impacted the lives of many people in this region for generations.

It would seem it's a question of scale. The subject of the article has regional, not national or international historical significance. There is just one solid published reference. If perhaps we got the local regional paper to run a half page article on it, would that then suffice? Would the cirrculation numbers of that paper then be brought into question?

I don't mean to be obnoxious, but the page has already been a catalyst for attracting people interested in this subject. This has not only accelerated the research and eduational efforts related to the topic, but inspired volunteerism, historical preservation efforts, partnership with local colleges, and local civic pride. Aren't these the kind of 'good' things Wikpedia strives to encourage? Saying that the topic is essentially 'too small' to merit inclusion seems overly black and white.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Wes

Wespomeroy (talk) 05:21, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Well, I'm having just as hard a time finding sources as the editor who nominated it for deletion. I added a ref, and what is possibly a map (to external links. pls check it). You should read WP:GNG. To be notable, it really needs a bunch of good sources. See what you can dig up. On the upside, it is a piece of land, and that helps. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:34, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I've opened a centralized discussion there to handle a number of the different articles related to CCR. I'd like your input to see if I've broken down the articles correctly and if you think it's a reasonable solution.

Wikipedia Ambassador sweatshirt

Hi! This is the last call for signing on for a Wikipedia Ambassador hooded sweatshirt (in case you missed the earlier message in one of the program newsletters about it). If you would like one, please email me with your name, mailing address, and (US) sweatshirt size. We have a limited number left, so it will be first-come, first-served. (If more than one size would work for you, note that as well.)

Hi, you identified a link spam on the Jamie Wyeth article, which is a new concept for me. And, I agree it's good to remove a questionable external link. Someone can google if they want to explore the web. Just wondering so that I can be more informed going forward, how do you know if a link might be "link spam"? Thanks so much!-CaroleHenson (talk) 02:56, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Wikipedia:Linkspam#External link spamming and Wikipedia:External links#Links normally to be avoided might best answer your question. Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:32, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
And as far as links within citations, the edit summary "no commercial book sellers" I left applies. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:33, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, the links gave me some good tips! I didn't see the "no commercial book sellers" comment on this edit, but I'm good with the info you gave me. Thanks a bunch! Cheers!--CaroleHenson (talk) 03:48, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Happy to help. See: Do not use this field to link to any commercial booksellers.... Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:09, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
It's a small world here! Carole was a new user three or four months ago, and one whom I took under my wing a little. She has done very well in a short space of time & recently had a successful GA nomination. Always nice to see someone develop. - Sitush (talk) 12:56, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes. I followed the whistleblower thing. I was about to send him this:
Compare amount of visitors:
But I didn't. I get a kick out of making stuff that gets read. I'm not sure what his motivation is. Nobody's asked him yet. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:04, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
A lot of what I do probably is not much read but I'd like to think that for those people who are looking for info on XYZ, my contributions have gone a long way towards providing that info (and in a WP-compliant manner). There are not many takers for defunct engineering firms of Manchester or bareknuckle boxers etc, but the usefulness is still apparent. I hope!
Whistleblower was a pretty gross misunderstanding of various policies/guidelines & mis-statement of the facts. He may yet learn but I think every citation needs to be checked for now, just to ensure that the statement actually agrees with the cite rather than going off on some sort of hallucinatory meander. Qwyrxian will probably do this anyway, certainly for the userspace stuff. - Sitush (talk) 13:17, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
I like what you contribute. You write about cool stuff. You sing the unsung. That's even more cool. The articles I made that I like best get few hits. Stupid articles like List of missing treasure and List of ghosts get good hits, but for the wrong reasons.
And yes, Q is very thorough. I'm sure he'll fact check and help with M's stuff.  :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:27, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
