Re Mitchell page
re: Sounds notable enough for his own article indeed. Let's ask an admin to move the page. If you don't know one, I will ask. Let me know. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:16, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Can you go ahead and get an admin to unlock the 'Brian David Mitchell' page? so its easier to find by google searches.
Page is a work in progress with much more needed especially covering the psychiatric reports. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wombat24 (talk • contribs) 13:07, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Welcome back!
Lightning is striking again, Annie Oakley, is that you? ;) Are you one of those people who loves retro words and phrases, and could get lost in a vintage clothing store? I'm not talking about the silly "hipster" aesthetic, but rather a love for anachronistic colloquialisms and pop cultural dustbunnies, black and white talkies, View-Master's and Atari's, and all the detritus WALL-E collects and stores away in little drawers in his trailer for safekeeping. Les moulins de mon cœur. So, I sez, is that you, sister? Hmmm? :) Viriditas (talk) 12:52, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Anthidium manicatum
Just so you know, my edit summary wasn't aimed at you specifically, but was just a boilerplate I use when I'm tagging because it's a fairly common error. At any rate, the thing is that we don't actually add the stub categories as categories via HotCat; we're supposed to transclude them by applying the stub template (i.e. bee-stub instead of ) instead. But the presence of the template doesn't make the article categorized if it doesn't have at least one regular content category on it too, because the stub template is meant for temporary maintenance and, at least in theory, will eventually be removed from the article. Hope that helps a bit, sorry for any confusion. Bearcat (talk) 08:38, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- No need to be sorry for my confusion. That happened naturally. I actually swiped the from the genus or family article. Just so that I'm clear, I should maybe add and leave the {{bee-stub}, right? Many thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:50, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Mbz1
Re this post of yours - you can repost it if you wish, but I'd urge you not to, it wasn't particularly helpful on that user's talk page, particularly in the current situation. Yes, it would be nice if we could all just get along, and sometimes cost/benefits are exceeded and users ejected from the project; but we're not there yet in this case, and such cases should be handled elsewhere, and not by this sort of posting on a user's talk page. Note that this particular indefinite block isn't intended to be permanent; see also User talk:Gwen Gale. Rd232 talk 14:06, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- I hope that I am not "keeping the pot boiling" by opining on this, but I don't find the post particularly unhelpful, I may be wrong but I don't think that Anna has had previous interaction - and it is precisely outside comments that are valuable in this situation. It is also one of the few comments that actually ask Mbz1 what can be done to fix the situation - a welcome and constructive departure from the extremes of rough censure and coddling. un☯mi 14:20, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- The post did not appear to be particularly clearly addressed to Mbz1 so much as about them. I have no doubt it was well-intentioned, but it seemed to me to be both mistimed and misplaced. Rd232 talk 15:00, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- I won't repost it.
- It was intended to be helpful.
- I did have previous interaction with Mbz1:
- I gave that user a puzzle once while blocked.
- That user gave me a barnstar
- Mbz1 kindly spent a lot of time finding and uploading an image I requested. It was a very nice thing to do.
- I posted on that user's talk and it was removed by Mbz1
- I admit that I haven't read all of the discussions, but it does seem like there is a pattern. In keeping with that pattern, Mbz1's edits seemed to boil the pot.
- The images contributed by Mbz1 have been a huge asset to the project. Really huge. However, a lot of talk page edits have been a resource vacuum.
- Imagine a scenario where everyone simply has amnesia and goes back to editing. Wouldn't that be good for all?

Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for new Online Ambassadors
Hi Anna! Viriditas suggested you as a good candidate for the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.
If you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors in the coming term. If that's something you want to do, please apply!
You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).
I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 19:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Are Lingshui Railway Station and Linshui Railway Station the same? Sw2nd (talk) 16:36, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- The same. Lingshui is correct spelling, but Linshui was first. I guess I should move any goodies from my Lingshui over to the old Linshui, make Lingshui into a redirect, then ask an admin to move Linshui to Lingshui. Is that the procedure? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oh well. I just added #REDIRECT Lingshui Railway Station to Linshui. I hope that was the right thing to do. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:02, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I know the merge procedure. I did a redirect because there was no content moved from the earlier Linshui to the correct, later-created Lingshui.
Query regarding warnings issued to XXxTheproxXx
Hello. Could you help me understand the warnings you issued to XXxTheproxXx (talk · contribs)? As best as I can understand it, at 7:09/7:10 he made questionable edits to Party hat, which you reverted at 7:19/7:20 and issued him a uw-vandalism1 warning at 7:19. However you then issued an escalated uw-vandalism2 warning at 7:19, but I do not see the edits this warning was issued over. Then one minute later at 7:20 you issued a uw-vandalism4 escalated warning, when again, he has not made any additional edits. Was this a mistake, or did you intend to issue three levels of escalated warnings? Thanks, — Kralizec! (talk) 19:24, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I thought I warned him once for each instance. The last two were for vandalizing my talk and user pages. I skipped a level because I no longer assumed good faith and realized (considering his talk statement) that this was a vandalism-only account.
- I sometimes skip a level when it is absolutely clear the user is incorrigible. This is so a Huggle auto warn will get to block request quicker. Is this out of line? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:32, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- I this case, I think I saw previous vandalism for which he wasn't warned, and issued a retroactive escalated warning. I see he made 7 edits in total, all progressing from unconstructive to straight vandalism. Perhaps I should have waited to see if he would reform his ways. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:41, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- (edit conflict} ::While reviewing your block request at WP:AIV, I was able to figure out that your last two warnings (9:58 and 12:56) were for his inappropriate edits to your talk and user pages (9:50 and 10:39. However I am trying to determine why you issued three levels of escalating warnings between 7:19 and 7:20 ... when the last edit this user made to an article was at 7:10. Are you aware of the instruction at WP:UTM that say, "you should check that the user has made harmful edits since their last warning—the user must be given a chance to see and react to each warning given"? — Kralizec! (talk) 19:45, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- You are right. I didn't give him adequate time to react. I wasn't aware of the instruction. Sorry to put in a block request for nothing. I will wait until he reacts. Hopefully he will reform and become a constructive editor. However, the statement he put on his talk page:
WARNING: ANYONE WHO EDIT THIS PAGE WILL HAVE HIS OR HER CONTENTS WIPED OUT!!! Wikipedia sucks!!! It lacked loads of information about the world!!! I wonder why jimmy created this.
- ...and the fact that all 7 of his edits were either unconstructive or vandalism, makes me doubt it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:53, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Fish kills
I noted with interest the start of a table of notable fish kills , I was wondering if this 3was wise ? From my own professional career I could fill the table with probably 20 fish kills greater than those listed in the table, all from a relatively small part of Wales. This table could become very large and unwieldy unless some robust caveats are put around its population. Regards. Velella Velella Talk 00:32, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, the table is sortable. I think lots of people will now visit the article due to recent news, and then traffic will die off. If you could point me toward some of the biggies, I would like to add them and let the biggest incidents float to the top. The danger of a fish kill table getting too big doesn't worry me personally. I think it would be easy to prune. The net result would be a good perspective of how big they can be, and where they occur. This might calm down the "end of days" crowd. :) What do you think? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:37, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Since you are active in responding to vandalism, helping new users, and as a new ambassador (I think?) you may want to consider creating an edit notice to provide an additional layer of help for anyone who tries to contact you on your user page. Viriditas (talk) 04:19, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'll look into it. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:24, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why I need it. Is it to protect my page from baddies? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:28, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- I read up, but cannot find out why we need them? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:43, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, you're right; the editnotice page doesn't say much about the "why", just the "how". Since we are talking about user talk pages, think about it this way: you're already using a pseudo-editnotice at the top your talk page. "If I started a thread on your talk page, I am watching. Please reply there. To leave me a message click here." Right? However, when someone tries to leave you a message in edit mode, they don't have much to fall back on. So, what you can do is edit your editnotice to help them along. I gave you three examples of users who might be drawn to your talk page: editors responding to page edits and notices (vandalism, etc.); new users you've welcomed or helped; and editors who have chosen you as a mentor from the ambassador page. You could tailor an editnotice in such a way that you address all three, such that when they are composing a message to you, they will be able to give you information you might be looking for in a message, or other resources they can draw upon to get the desired response or answer. It's just something to think about, however, you may want to look at how other active editors/admins use the editnotice, and get some ideas. Viriditas (talk) 09:23, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ahhhhh, okay. Now I get it. Good idea. I will organize something. And thanks for the Ambassador recommend. It looks like it will be fun. Also, does my entry sound stupid? I wanted it to be short and simple. Is the IRC thing confusing? Should I give more details? Be frank. I would really appreciate your critique. - I don't think you need to say "quite a lot of Wikipedia experience" because it is assumed that as an available mentor you are experienced, right? Instead, just briefly talk about your interest in Wikipedia, what kind of topics you enjoy editing, and maybe mention a project or two, and of course, your DYK contribs, and even your photography and art... (which I quite enjoy!) Viriditas (talk) 09:43, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm kind of nervous about it and want to make a good impression. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:38, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
