Yes, we still need your help!
We haven't found what we are looking for yet, so yes, extra eyes searching would be most helpful!
By the way, as a guide on what to look for, the stand we had is the one in this picture.
But we can't use it because it is from a copyrighted image. Too bad we don't know anyone who bought the product - we could have that person take a new pic! (I'd buy one, if they didn't cost $250.00!)
That's the general style of globe stand we are looking for, unless you come across something even better.

What is Around the World?
It's a collaboration!
A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools.
The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World!"
The set of pages we are working is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.
Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.
The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than tediously working on a single country to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!
For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees. :) The energy is contagious.
And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.
The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.
Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.
Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

I am me93
Thanks very much for the note, I have passed on my thoughts regarding the issue to the original blocking admin. As someone who has recently had a dispute with IAM93, I am really not in any position to take action personally. J Milburn (talk) 18:54, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Tropical cyclones WikiProject Newsletter #18
The Hurricane Herald
This is the monthly newsletter of WikiProject Tropical Cyclones. The Hurricane Herald aims to give a summary, both of the activities of the WikiProject and global tropical cyclone activity. If you wish to change how you receive this newsletter, or no longer wish to receive it, please add your username to the appropriate section on the mailing list. This newsletter covers all of June 2008.
Please visit this page and bookmark any suggestions of interest to you. This will help improve monitoring of the WikiProject's articles.
Storm of the month
Typhoon Fengshen was the deadliest Pacific typhoon since Typhoon Durian in November of 2006. The sixth named storm of the 2008 Pacific typhoon season, Fengshen developed on June 18 to the east of the Philippines, and after attaining typhoon status it stuck the island of Samar. It intensified while passing through the archipelago, reaching winds of over 175 km/h (110 mph) before passing near Metro Manila. Fengshen later weakened in the South China Sea, and it dissipated on June 26 after moving ashore in China.
The typhoon killed over 1,300 people, including 800 when the MV Princess of the Stars capsized during the storm. Damage totaled $247 million (USD), with over 300,000 houses damaged or destroyed. The damage total included $70 million (USD) in crop damage.
Other tropical cyclone activity
- 2008 North Indian Ocean cyclone season — Two tropical depressions form during the month, including one in each sub-basin. The second depression hit Bangladesh, which added to flooding and damage across the area.
- Northwestern Pacific Ocean – In addition to Fengshen, Typhoon Nakri became extratropical early in the month.
- Eastern Pacific Ocean – Hurricane Boris and Tropical Storm Cristina form and co-exist well to the southwest of Mexico in the last week of the month through early July.
- 2008 Atlantic hurricane season– Tropical Storm Arthur dissipates over the Yucatán Peninsula early in the month.
New and improved articles
- There was one new piece of Featured content : List of Maryland and Washington, D.C. hurricanes (1980–present)
- New Good articles include: Hurricane Kyle (2002), Cyclone Bola, Hurricane Guillermo (1997)
- New storm articles include: Hurricane Jimena (2003), Hurricane Huko (2002)
- New non-storm articles include: 1968 Atlantic hurricane season, 1999 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Effects of Hurricane Charley in South Carolina, List of unnamed tropical cyclones
Addition of C-class
During the month, C-class was added to the assessment scheme. The project has begun the process of integrating C-class, though as of this publication only 8 articles in the project are at that level. A preliminary solution would be to very strictly define B-class with six criteria, with one proposal to automatically re-assess all B-class articles as C-class until they are confirmed to have passed the criteria. Discussion and participation are welcome on the issue.
As a result of the addition of C-class, the ω (WikiWork) rating for C-class is now 3.5, to keep in line with the previous system we used.
During the month, the project published a page on its style for articles. The purpose for the page, as quoted from the top of the page, is to document a few existing unwritten guidelines for Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones.
Main Page content
- 2006 Atlantic hurricane season appeared as Today's Featured Article on June 10
- Typhoon Fengshen (2008) appeared early in the month in the In the news column
- Entries from articles: 1851 Atlantic hurricane season, Hurricane Patsy (1959), Effects of Hurricane Charley in South Carolina, 1968 Pacific hurricane season, Hurricane Huko (2002), Hurricane Ivo (2007) appeared on the Main Page in the Did you know column during June.

Member of the month
The June member of the month is User:Potapych. Though not officially a member of the project, Potapych is active on hurricane pages, having developed the new small infobox template introduced last month. After developing the new template, Potapych updated season articles across the board to accommodate the new template.

WP:HAU, Status, and you!
As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:49, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I've made some changes to your personal status system. You should now simply change the word in User:AstroHurricane001/Status to "online", "busy", or "offline". Your new system is fully compatible with HAU. You can use WP:QUI as mentioned above to help easily update this page. Let me know if you have further questions. –xenocidic (talk) 01:54, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- The HAU page should automatically pick up whenever you change the status word in User:AstroHurricane001/Status. –xenocidic (talk) 01:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- If you're going to keep using that statuschange script it will need to be tweaked to just change the one word in User:AstroHurricane001/Status. –xenocidic (talk) 02:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think I know how to fix it... Do I have permission to tweak that .js file for you? –xenocidic (talk) 02:09, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ok I /think/ I fixed it, but it's also possible I've just royalled screwed things up beyond all recognition. Don't forget to reload your cache, and let me know how it works. The status changer should be making changes to /Status2 and /Status should be automagically updating based on that. –xenocidic (talk) 02:35, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Yea, it looks like my clever tweak didn't work. Installing Qui would be the easiest way to fix it, unless Misza can rewrite the script to be compatible. Yes it's IE compatible.–xenocidic (talk) 13:54, 9 July 2008 (UTC)- Never mind - I fixed it. Should work now. –xenocidic (talk) 13:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Reload your cache, and I'll clean up myself by deleting all those (now) unnecessary pages I created. –xenocidic (talk) 14:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the barnstar! Have you reloaded your cache (since 14:01 UTC?), I'd like to clean up after my rather inelegant fixing from last night when I guess I was a little too tired to see the simple solution staring me right in the face. –xenocidic (talk) 14:16, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Done. I ended up overhauling the whole thing, since I noticed TheDJ is advertising this in his script documentation now. Anyway, it should show "busy" now by default, and you can switch it back to "On IRC" by using irc=y as a parameter. There's a few more doohickeys I added, but none that should affect you. We couldn't find a stand, so Grey Knight made one!
Here it is (with globe too):
It's not quite finished. If you'd like to check out the main discussion on this and the other graphics being developed for the Around the World awards, see User:Penubag/graphics.

RE: Min Chen
The article was deleted solely because nobody had objected to the PROD tag placed on it. The reason given for the proposed deletion was "Non-notable criminal. Single incident coverage, significant BLP issues". The article can be restored at request, per the current Proposed Deletion policy, however, if you do wish for it to be restored I'd ask that you attempt to correct the problems that caused it to be deleted. - Rjd0060 (talk) 15:18, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
