Speedy deletion nomination of Jamovi

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jamovi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft of your article in draftspace or in your userspace first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. Redalert2fan (talk) 21:13, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Cole Davis writer. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jamovi (statistical software), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Nicnotesay hello!contribs 23:44, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Cole Davis writer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because the editor is not a member of the jamovi team, has edited using a range of independent books and articles, and has done level best to meet requirements. I would also point out that many lesser pieces of software have much less literary support, yet seem to have gone through on the nod, while what is now a rather important product, used by many of the world's universities, gets bounced back again and again. Also, Wikipedia wishes to be taken seriously, yet seems to attract listings of fictional characters from television and films, while an educationally important product is treated with apparent contempt. Cole Davis writer (talk) 16:51, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is your user page that has been nominated for deletion not your draft. Theroadislong (talk) 16:58, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

I presume that you want to know about somebody's expertise and interests. I am not selling a service from the web page. Perhaps you could tell me what it is that you object to.

I am objecting to you promoting your off wikipedia concerns with spam links. See WP:UPNOT Generally, you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 17:45, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... I have now removed the websites. Does that make you happier? --Cole Davis writer (talk) 18:02, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! I have removed the speedy deletion tag from the page. Many long-term editors have a brief amount of information about themselves on their User page but most of the information is about their editing on the project and their interests. But it can not appear that you are promoting yourself or your career. Many new editors treat Wikipedia User pages as if they were LinkedIn and that's what gets deleted here. Thank you for removing the external links.
If you have questions about appropriate content for User pages or Wikipedia's deletion processes, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:14, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
