Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Cutlass81. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. I noticed that you contributed significantly to Après coup, an article submitted by an IP editor, that had not yet been submitted for review. All your other edits appear to concern the films of Noël Mitrani. If you have a connection to Mitrani, you ought to disclose it. If you have been paid to edit, such disclosure is mandatory. draftification of Après coup

[edit]

This is to let you know that I have moved Après coup to Draft:Après coup, as the article lists no sources, and no sources appear to be available. (I did my best to locate them). I expect that some coverage may eventually emerge, at which point the article can be moved back into mainspace once it meets our notability criteria for film. See WP:NFILM. Had I not done this, the article would have been nominated for deletion. Mduvekot (talk) 14:59, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your article

[edit]

The solution is to fix the problem and resubmit. It needs more good sources and they should be wp:inline citations. See help:referencing for beginners and help:footnotes Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 22:22, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Après coup

Cassy (2018 film) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Cassy (2018 film), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Cutlass81. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, Draft:Cassy (2018 film).

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it. — JJMC89(T·C) 02:05, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Between Them

[edit]

Please note that the notability of a film is not established by using the self-published websites of film festivals the film was screened at to verify that the film exists — it's established by using media coverage about the film to verify that the film got media attention: published reviews of the film by professional film critics, news coverage about its production, and on and so forth.

Even a film festival award isn't an instant notability clincher for a film, if you have to source that award to the film festival's own website — even "notable because it won awards" only cares about awards that get media attention, such as the Oscars, the Canadian Screen Awards, the Prix Iris or a narrow selection of top tier film festivals like Cannes, Berlin or TIFF. It does not just automatically extend to just every award at just every film festival that exists; it requires the award to be one that gets media coverage, in order to establish that the award itself is even a notable one.

So no, the new version you wrote the other day was not properly sourced for the purposes of overturning the deletion discussion last year. In order to establish that the film is now notable enough to have an article recreated, the sourcing still has to be journalist-written media coverage, not just any website you can find that has the film's name in it.

Also, further note that this is the English Wikipedia, so even when the film can be properly sourced as notable the article must be titled with the film's English title, not its French title. Bearcat (talk) 19:11, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Afterwards (2017 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Film appears to fail WP:NFILM as nothing in a BEFORE was found to satisfy the notability guidelines.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
