[edit]I notice your edits regularly at Indonesian articles - I was wondering if I could ask for some help please? SatuSuro 06:35, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I see you here a lot - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RecentChangesLinked/List_of_Indonesia-related_topics - and what I would like to ask (its up to you though, And I would not be bothered if you were not able to do so) whether it would be possible to check the Indonesian articles that they have on their discussion/talk page the minumum of WP Indonesia - at least - and where possible if they are obvious stubs whether you could put class=stub and importance=low - why? the Indonesian project is very low on maintenance help at the moment - and any small help can always work marvels! - but very important - only as long as it didnt affect your own editing and checking SatuSuro 06:54, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
lucu sekali! poor in content? heheh most of wp english indonesia has no content - lists and ((onesource)) disasters - but hey - please only if there is some glaring omission or obvious help needed - it would be appreciated - my commiserations - most WP IN eds do not seem to know what WP:RS is - but I am too harsh - thanks for any help at all - SatuSuro 07:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
It is everywhere - indian. malaysian. javanese, sundanese, mongolian (!), - all a bunch of xxxxx xenophobes - which is why every now and then that i despair and alledge that I am surrounded by cretins - try putting spratley islands on watch and youll see what i mean. Thanks for your help - some of it is more subtle and harder to discern and get cleaned up - so please feel free to allert me of any items that might see somewhat untouched POV - it would be appreciated - thanks again SatuSuro 04:33, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
When I have had to deal with some of the non english material that creeps into WP EN Indonesia project with literally no back up or support - you might realise that my language is indeed guarded and considered when I use that term - most of what I actually feel about the constant barrage of POV and POINT material into the project I actually reserve for off-wiki discussions :) - the actual indoctrinations of the New Order era education system are worthy of a good PhD if it hasnt been done yet as to what constituted what in the over all history of the archipelago SatuSuro 04:45, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]All the material you removed from Malay World that seemed to be an argument regarding Nusantara - do you think any of that material might be more relevant there? SatuSuro 08:39, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
I respectfully completely disagree. The term "nusa antara" existed long before the Pararaton- it is merely that the West bases its' scant knowledge of Indonesia on the few documents it claims to have discovered- yet there are many thousands more manuscripts in the Pustakaan Kerataon, many of which predate this and Empu Tantular.
I quote from Kamus Pepak Basa Kawa (2008 Mulyono: Pustaka Widyatama): nusa: pulau= island. antara- outside. There is also nusa Jawa (islands external to Java). Nusa Madura (outside of Madura). Nusa hutan (beyond the forest). Nusa and Antara are derived directly from Dewanegari and Sanskrit- which of course predates the 13th C Pararaton. The concept of islands outside Java and external territories obviously a concept well known prior to the 14th C from the existent of trans national Majapahit, Singasari and Sriwijaya.
I also completely disagree with you re Islam as a determinant of Malay or Malayness.
The Malay world is a racial world. Due to unfortunate Western emotional over sensitivities about unfortunate racial realities, I understand this is almost a total taboo (read Orwellian thoughtcrime) to use race as a characterizing feature. But in context- in the Malay world as it were- it is not. We are emotionally mature enough to comfortable state the obvious that Austronesian= Malay.
It was the ignorant English colonials who supposed we were "Malayalam Indians" and due to genetic British refusal to admit error- the erroneous term stayed. AS you well know the Austronesian race has not changed despite the altering religions of Animism, Buddhism, Hinduism- yet the race was the same- the Malayness remained. What of the many Catholic and Protestant indigenous Indonesians: they are not 'Malay'?
I quote: "Malay’ was often used to refer to the people of Riau, where the Malay language is believed to have originated. Yet ‘Malayness’ is a broad and inclusive ethnic category shared by numerous groups across Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo and Sumatra as well as Eastern Indonesia. For the New Order’s museum curators, the problem was that Malays could not be identified with one particular place in the archipelago."
Where are her sources? Taman Mini is not even a museum- merely a theme park to attempt to make learning fun. Rather poor even for an Australian academic- would you not agree?- Sorry I somehow was logged out. À la prochaine mon amiStarstylers (talk) 17:15, 8 April 2009 (UTC)==Malay world==

[edit]C'est va? I disagree (respectfully as always) with you on a number of points. There seems to be an issue too of colloquial or even archaic English versus correct geo-political or other such academic terminology. I will get back to you- but its a rather interesting discussion, a non mon ami? AdieuStarstylers (talk) 17:54, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. I have commented further on your request. While it may be allowed on this project (I cannot predict the crats' decision), the username you requested exists on several projects and you will not be able to create a complete unified account if you are renamed to this name here. You might want to consider a different name that allows you to create such an account. Regards SoWhy 07:58, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hello SoWhy, thanks for the information. As a matter of fact I am already using "Humboldt" as a user name in the French and Indonesian WP's. So I suppose this can support my case for using it in the English WP... Best regards, Humboldt 17:35, 25 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Djoehana (talk • contribs)
- If you already do so, I would suggest you use fr:Spécial:Fusionner le compte on fr-wiki with your "Humboldt" account and create an unified login from there. That way it can be handled as a request for completing said unified login instead of a normal request and it would be a good way to show that you have strong claims to the account name (you will need to provide a diff on fr-wiki then in which you confirm that you made the request). Regards SoWhy 18:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- As for the confirmation edit, please make it as "Humboldt" on the French Wikipedia (for example edit fr:Wikipédia:Bac à sable and use an edit summary like "I confirm that I am Djoehana on the English Wikipedia", then add the difflink of that edit to the rename request. Regards SoWhy 07:53, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Humboldt! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 317 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

[edit]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahal,_Indonesia - no refs and no categories correct? what is going on? SatuSuro 07:00, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Please note that {{stub}} goes at the end of the article, after everything except interwiki links, per WP:LAYOUT, not at the top. And it doesn't take parameters.
Also, I imagine you found the newspaper references online (unless it's your personal press cuttings file) - so why not make them into links to the online sources? Only very few readers will be able to follow up the information in The Southern Reporter in hard copy, but they can all (now) click a link and read the detail there. Please link to online sources when they are available. Thanks.
But, more interestingly - what happened next? Googling finds me no mention of the stone after 2008. Do you know anything more? PamD (talk) 09:29, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Does Coèdes really say that the Dong Yen Chau inscription is from the middle of the sixth century? I checked Thurgood and he really does say that Coèdes dates it to the middle of the fourth. Can you check Coèdes directly? Perhaps Marrison (isn't that Morrison?) misquotes him there and Thurgood only repeats this there.
By the way, watch out for users who try to claim the inscription for Old Malay. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:26, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
- How can you not have been aware of the inscription before? You edited the article yourself! The diff I linked to is you editing the inscription's article!
- As for the observation that the language of the inscription resembles Malay, I find it entirely unremarkable and I explain this on the talk page and warn of POV-pushing. Orhanghazi's bias is a problem, for it is showing. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 18:12, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Sukarno etc
[edit]Hi. Sukarno with a "u", not "Soekarno" with "oe" is the correct spelling - please see Sukarno#Name. Thanks. Davidelit (Talk) 01:33, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hi again. The "Sukarno" is the Indonesian version, while the "oe" spelling is from the Dutch system. To quote Sukarno's exact words from Sukarno; Adams, Cindy. Sukarno: An Autobiography As Told to Cindy Adams, Bobbs-Merrill (1965), pp 26-27: "In school my signature had to be spelled Soekarno - the Dutch way. In independent Indonesia I have ordered all "OE" spelling back to "U". The spelling of Soekarno is now SUkarno. However, it is difficult to change one's signature after fifty years so when I myself sign my name, I still write S-O-E." Incidentally, author Douglas Adams was known as "Bop Ad because of the odd way he signed his name: Regards Davidelit (Talk) 03:05, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Presidential Security Force of Indonesia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indonesian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]The article Pejuang has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
the word "pejuang" literally means fighter/warrior to both Malay and Indonesian language, it shouldn't be a redirect to an unnotable former Royal Brunei Navy warship
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jauhsekali (talk) 03:56, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Discussion at Talk:Sarah Azhari
[edit]I invite you to please join the discussion at Talk:Sarah Azhari.
Hello, we are seeking help with the Sarah Azhari article, created in 2013 & recently the subject of a deletion proposal. At issue was whether or not the Indonesian language sources establish notability. I am inviting you to the discussion at Talk:Sarah Azhari#Help with Indonesian language sources because you are in the Category:User id-N & have a minimum of 1,000 edits across all Wikimedia projects.
I realize that some of you are very busy while others may no longer be editing. Nevertheless, I thought it wise to consult with you.
Thank your for the work that you do on Wiki[mp]edia! Peaceray (talk) 21:06, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
