Usha[edit]

Please revert your move from Usha to 'ancient'. There doesn't seem to be a erason for that extra specification in the article name and merely adds clutter while also screwing up the disambig template too. Thanks. --Shuki 10:31, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shuki!

I've created also Usha (kibbutz) and Usha (goddess), and I'm going to correct all the links and/or problems with templates now. IMHO it's better to specify explicitly, that the article previously named "Usha" is about the ancient city (=> rename it), and make the new Usha article redirect to the disamb. page. I reverted your good faith page move. Please take a look at this policy on naming standards for corporations. In general, the use of terms that connote legal status are discouraged unless needed for disamgibuation. Feel free to discuss this on the talk page if you see a good reason to make the change anyway. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Odyssey. The Search for Ulysses.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Odyssey. The Search for Ulysses.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reverted disambig page revert[edit]

You should reveiew WP:MOSDAB. We don't generally use disambig items for every possible meaning of a word or acronym, but only for disambiguation. To disambiguate to an article that doesn't even mention the topic of the disambig article is never appropriate. Multiple links per item is also wrong, almost always. I see that I am not the first one making this comment. Can you explain how you "help the reader to find the information he's looking for," when you are adding a link to an article that doesn't even mention the subject? Etymology[edit]

I reverted your edit to Lenticular lens. Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Articles should not generally give etymology in the first sentence, because the topic of the article is the thing itself, not the words that describe it. In many cases, there is no need to include etymology in an article at all. Where it is worth including, it belongs somewhere lower down in the article—not in the lead paragraph, and certainly not in the first sentence. If it's worth including, it's worth writing a sentence about it, not just a sentence fragment in parentheses.--Srleffler (talk) 17:37, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trinity Islands[edit]

Just wanted to note that when disambiguating things like that it should be in the Trinity Islands (Nunavut). Trinity Islands, Nunavut would indicate a community called Trinity Islands. Here's another and better example, Trout Lake (British Columbia) and Trout Lake, British Columbia. See here (by Amanda Zangari, a postdoc working on NASA’s New Horizons mission). And, apparently, I was wrong – it should be 2014 MU₆₉ (2014 MT₆₉ is another object). Please let me know if you consider this source reliable enough to rename to 2014 MU₆₉ (you can rename if you wish); otherwise, it probably should be reverted to 1110113Y.
