Protection

Hey Efe, can u assure a temporary protection for the Gaga single articles. A lot of IP bad edits are going on and its getting out of hand. --Legolas (talktome) 09:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Which one specifically? --Efe (talk) 11:43, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Specially Poker Face and the discography page. --Legolas (talktome) 11:48, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
I'll check it. --Efe (talk) 11:49, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Have the discog protected. I think Poker is manageable. --Efe (talk) 11:57, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again Efe. In the meantime i would like you to look in to the Gaga album article as well. Not only IP bad edits, but a lot of new users are continupusly adding these two articles.LoveGame (song) and Lovegame. A protection from new or unregistered users? --Legolas (talktome) 04:42, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
I think no. Its a bad idea. Give them warnings first. If they don't stop, we block them. If IPs and users swarmed over those articles, we'll have the proper action. --Efe (talk) 04:46, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok i'll leave them warnings. Will let you know if they persist on doing the same things. --Legolas (talktome) 04:52, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
OK. --Efe (talk) 04:54, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
I think our very own Youstinklmao a.k.a Child Funk is going to start the same kind of behaviour again. Take a look at this. --Legolas (talktome) 06:18, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Hmmmm. A less consideration for rules. --Legolas (talktome) 06:51, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Question

Hi, I have a question, I am currently working on the song "Papa Don't Preach" and I couln't find any free image of Madonna performing the song. Do you think a non-free image should be included in the "Live performances" section, or is better to have the least amount of no-free content? I was going to upload a photo of Madonna during the Who's That Girl Tour, but I don't want to do all the process to find out that it don't meet the criteria. Thnaks in advance for your answer. Frcm1988 (talk) 05:38, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Nice article. I suggest you find free images. But for artists like Madonna, its hard. Unless you could justify its use (WP:NFCC) strongly, then it should pass the reviewers. --Efe (talk) 05:57, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I will try to find a free image. Thanks again for your help. Frcm1988 (talk) 06:28, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Welcome. Good luck. --Efe (talk) 07:19, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism of The Fame Ball Tour

Please take a look at this. Raised an ANI as continuous warnings did no good. --Legolas (talktome) 13:25, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Gaga singles

Hey Efe, you have promoted many singles articles to GA so I thought you would know better. What are the things the Gaga single articles are lagging could you please point out to me? Also where can i find info regarding the music structure could you please guide me? I'm developing these single pages as much as i can, but cannot seem to find suitable sources to describe the music structure or the composition. --Legolas (talktome) 10:04, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Some hurdles we met when developing music-related articles come in when we find info regarding the composition/structure and history of the recording and writing. Those are important sections, although the former is not highly required for GAs. When the background of the single is not included, the article is likely to be failed. I suggest you scour the net, interviews, magazines, etc. --Efe (talk) 10:18, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok Ef, but is there any website you have previously referred which publishes regarding music composition? --Legolas (talktome) 12:04, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Mostly in interviews with the producers and writers, sometimes in reviews. For the structure, I used music sheets (musicnotes.com and 8notes.com) before, but I left it; its sort of original research. Also, sometimes its not reliable. We'd better stick to journalistic articles. --Efe (talk) 12:08, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

TK Article

Dear Efe, After thoroughly going through the guidelines, I have made some major changes to the article. I have added more information about the inception of the company and also included references for ISO certifications. I have also changed the tone of the content. I hope it will go live now. Please let me know. (Tkmark (talk) 08:48, 3 March 2009 (UTC))

Perhaps it can live now. But I am not really sure. If its not speedily deleted, I am afraid of AFD. --Efe (talk) 09:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Efe, Kindly make it Live. I will then discuss the article if anyone raises issues. I have seen similar articles on wikipedia that I will then refer others too. For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sungale_Group_Inc Thanks a lot for your help and continuous assistance. I really appreciate it. (Tkmark (talk) 03:16, 5 March 2009 (UTC))

I cannot. You are the writer. I'll keep an eye on it, instead. --Efe (talk) 04:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Efe, I need your assistance here in understanding something. What did you mean by me being the writer? Yes, I am and I had told you that. Secondly, could you please guide me why it can't go live, so I will make proper changes. I have read the links you provided and changed the text accordingly. This link also describes a company: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sungale_Group_Inc Please guide how it differs from TradeKey article so I will make appropriate changes. Your help will be greatly appreciated, as always. Best Regards. (Tkmark (talk) 09:18, 5 March 2009 (UTC))

I did not say it can't go live. It can go now, actually. What I am afraid of is if it would, if not speedy, be passed to WP:AFD. Certain criteria have to be met. I know you have read them, but sometimes not all companies/websites can have articles here in Wikipedia. Just try to make it live. --Efe (talk) 11:42, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Efe, Thank you very much for your consistent guidance. I really appreciate your helping me. I am going to make it Live now. Again, thank you. After making it live, I will send you the link.(Tkmark (talk) 02:55, 6 March 2009 (UTC))

Welcome. I hope it works. --Efe (talk) 03:01, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Efe, It's live now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tradekey Thank you. (Tkmark (talk) 03:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC))

Dear Efe, It was deleted along with its talk page without any discussion. (Tkmark (talk) 04:51, 13 March 2009 (UTC))

That's what I've been afraid of. It was speedily deleted under WP:CSD G11, and if it meets, it does not need any further discussion. It will be deleted over and over and I tactfully suggest you do not create the page again. Not all subjects/articles can pass the criteria of WikiPedia. If ever Tradekey passes WP:WEB, then it deserves a space here. I'm sorry. --Efe (talk) 05:03, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi Efe. I want to ask you to check out this article, it is already a GA, but I want to take to the next level. Please tell me what you think about it. Best regards. Thanks. Jaespinoza (talk) 19:21, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Nice article. Very neat. I suggest you pass it to WP:PR first. But my first comment would be about its comprehensive. The history is a bit weak and there's no info about its music. If you go for PR, I'll add further comments if there's any. --Efe (talk) 02:42, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much. It is already on PR, I made some changes, hope you could take a look at it once again. Jaespinoza (talk) 01:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

2009 in music

Looks like this will be the music event of the year. I have tickets :). BTW, do you think the table at the bottom is really necessary? I don't. — R2 03:11, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I really hate tables, personally, when the page is an article, not a list. You know, I prefer a visually appealing WikiPedia page. I presume he will only be performing in that arena. I think it could be summarized in prose? Are those tickets for free? Hehe. --Efe (talk) 03:14, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! At the moment the 50 dates are all in London. Maybe he will tour elsewhere afterward. The info is already mentioned in the prose, but every time I removed the table, IP's kept reinserting it. :( — R2 03:26, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry. Im sure you'll gonna bring that to GA. When that time comes and the subject isn't hot anymore, IPs will not gonna put that table, again. Alternatively, you can discuss it with editors involved in the article. --Efe (talk) 03:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Protection

Hi Efe. We need move protection for the Gaga articles having the word "Gaga" in it. Some users are continuously going against consensus and moving the articles to GaGa or GAGA. What do you propose? Move protection like Rihanna or warnings? --Legolas (talktome) 08:37, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I see this guy's responsible, mostly, for the recent moves. I think we can inform him instead of move protecting the page. Recent activities cannot fully justify the prot. After warnings, if they persist, we can make the protection --Efe (talk) 08:46, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Will do. But as you will see he previously also blanked those warnings and chose to continue with the moves. Also another user has started with the moves. Please take a look. --Legolas (talktome) 09:07, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. I saw it. But I think its manageable because they are established users. --Efe (talk) 09:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
OMG I came from the Fame Ball tour last night... OMG ... OMG !! --Legolas (talktome) 06:50, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Congrats! I presume you got nice pictures (only if cams were allowed and you got one)? Beyonce was here last November 2007, and the ticket prices were fucking high. And the venue was far from where I lived. --Efe (talk) 06:56, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Ya i got fantastic pics with my cam. I'm in LA for hte past one month staying with my sister. My brother-in-law got the tickets. I saw Beyonce here at Lobo restaurant. She was without Jay-Z. Man she looks so stunning from the front. Gaga's show started with a huge screen telling about Haus of Gaga and her fab for David Warhol and Fame. Then she started with Papparazzi. You should see her bubble dress and she sang a new song called Future Love. --Legolas (talktome) 07:35, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

(Outdent) I envy you. But I hope (to the highest level [expression here in the Philippines]) that she'll come back, perhaps during her I Am tour. Anyway, are you going to share those pics at Commons? --Efe (talk) 07:39, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I hope Beyonce comes there. I'm still trying to find as much reference i can regarding the show and not my own research. By the way, one user continuously deletes teh tour dates stating WP:NOTDIR, but notdir doesnot say anything about tour dates. What is your opinion on this? --Legolas (talktome) 07:44, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
It somewhat falls under WP:DIR. Not quite sure. It has not been extensively discussed. IMO, tour dates aren't encyclopedic. I think you got the same concern with Realist. --Efe (talk) 07:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Peer review limits

The guidelines for Wikipedia:Peer review ask that editors nominate no more than one article per day (and four total at any one time). While the rules say that one of the requests can be removed, I will let it slide since this is the first time. Take care, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:08, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh my. I really forgot the rules, Ruhrfisch. What was in my mind was archive the other three so that I can request a PR for the newest two. Will not happen again and thanks for allowing the excess to stay in the PR page. --Efe (talk) 07:01, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
It is no problem, just a friendly reminder. Keep up the good work, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:07, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Got a Small Problem

I just got an email from the Volapük Wikipedia (vo.wikipedia.org). The problem is, the entire email is in Volapük (some weird kinda German but not lauguage, I didn't know exsisted). I am a little worried someone has hacked my account on this wiki. I have posted about this one ANI (see here. Could you please help? - NeutralHomerTalk • March 16, 2009 @ 06:45

Initially, I thought your concern does not need admins. I am no expert on this matter but I think it has already been settled, because of the tick. --Efe (talk) 11:01, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

On behalf of the Wikipedia:Kindness Campaign, we just want to spread Wikipedia:WikiLove by wishing you a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 15:47, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day, too! --Efe (talk) 15:48, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

What should I say

Re this comment. How and why exactly do I rewarn a user that is currently blocked and has evaded the block by resetting his modem? Continuing vandalism after being blocked doesn't require a fresh set of four warnings. And, if you have any doubt as to it being the same user, please compare this and this. Not only is he inserting the Bulgarian Singles chart in Hot N Cold, he's corrupting the Finnish Singles chart position in Katy Perry discography. Obviously the same editor.—Kww(talk) 20:53, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Given proper warning and been educated why those charts are not allowed. If it persists, I'll block the IP. Thanks for dropping by. --Efe (talk) 20:55, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Look at the talk page of the original IP. Here it is for easy reference. He has had multiple warnings and been blocked for precisely this behaviour, and is still under that block. It has been persisting for days.—Kww(talk) 20:58, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Blocked already for 31 hours. --Efe (talk) 21:00, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Please extend to the block to 6 months. It's a repeat vandal that recently came off a 3 month block. thanks, Enigmamsg 07:04, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for dropping by. Contribution history been checked. Seems an IP full of vandal activity. We'll watch this IP. If the block's been released and still persist, might extend the block as suggested. --Efe (talk) 11:03, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I hate to have to revert even more vandalism before the longer block is implemented, but ok. If I see it, I be back. Enigmamsg 20:42, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
  • Comment Block just ended, and it is back and vandalizing once again. Enigmamsg 20:23, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for the information. I actually monitored his contribs yesterday when the block expired. No activity. But now its back. The IP has been blocked by User:Scarian for 6 months. --Efe (talk) 00:07, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Tours

Hi Efe. tours by artists can be categorised under which Wikiproject? --Legolas (talktome) 05:37, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

I think there's no wikiproject for tour-related articles, as of now. --Efe (talk) 09:09, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Please Efe, an immediate protection for the Lady Gaga discography page. Somebody removed the protection template and huge IP vandalism happened. --Legolas (talktome) 14:03, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes it was removed because the block just expired. --Efe (talk) 04:50, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
But please can you put it back. I just spent the whole morning reverting IP bad changes. --Legolas (talktome) 05:04, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps you warn that IP. Let's see how the article goes until tomorrow. Are you using Twinkle? Its so east to revert vandals or revert to the good version of article. --Efe (talk) 05:14, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
No I'm not. I don't know how to use twinkle. Can you tell me? --Legolas (talktome) 06:22, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Go to your preference page and tick on Twinkle under Editing Gadgets. Its really fun. At least you will not always think of protecting pages when you can keep with their vandals. --Efe (talk) 11:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Lost!

Hey Efe, listen, I found this image of Coldplay performing "Lost!". Is this an "okay" image for the article? If so, I'll ask the author for permission, regarding the image being used on Wikipedia. If not, I'll keep looking for some more. Also, would this image work on "Viva la Vida" and would these two images, [1] [2], work for "Yellow"? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:02, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for looking for those images. Not encyclopedic for the Lost! picture. Too far and unidentifiable. But if there's no other photos out there, I think its passable. The Viva is real nice. I saw their concert in Japan via MTV. The Yellow images are nice too. Got nice lights. Are the authors of those images going to permit us? --Efe (talk) 09:51, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Its hard, cause some users don't actually say what song it was that they took the picture of, so. But, some users do say. The author of Viva says to ask him for permission, so that's what I'm going to do, ask permission. I'm not sure for the Yellow ones, but I'll ask, anyway. Update: I've contacted the authors, just need to wait and see if they give permission. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:11, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I got permission for this image; Image:Coldplay - Yellow 2008.jpg. I don't know where in the article to add it, so I'll leave that to you. Though, I still haven't heard from the Viva one, hopefully there's a response. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
I'll work on those stuffs later. --Efe (talk) 04:19, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi Efe, I know that you have a lot of experience with music related articles, and you have some featured articles as well. What do you think of the article? Do you think is ready for FA? Im not asking for a review, just a quick look. Is there something missing, or perhaps some parts are not relevant enough. Please let me know your thoughts about it. Thanks in advance. Frcm1988 (talk) 05:08, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

The article's just fine. I bet you'll be able to snatch that little bronze star just easy. I have a little comment though. I am afraid the second sample might get oppose from FAC reviewers. It sort of failed to satisfy WP:NFCC #8. --Efe (talk) 10:01, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
PS. Hey Efe me and Frcm are also collaborating on a number of Madonna articles. He is at present developing "Live to Tell" and i'm doing "La Isla Bonita". Can you take a look? Also I'm a little stuck at the critical response. Can you help me out a bit? --Legolas (talktome) 03:57, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
The computer I am using at school, for free, isn't working and is under repair. I am in internet cafes now so I don't know if I can help that much. I have checked Rolling Stone and Allmusic, they have nothing to offer and I assume you have checked them also. Are there any reviews for the album? --Efe (talk) 10:54, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Reviews also doesnot have that much about this song. Shall I look into books? Will that be acceptable at GAR? --Legolas (talktome) 11:58, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
That's even better than online reviews. Look also for magazines and newspapers. I really don't have enough access to those stuffs. --Efe (talk) 04:18, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Open Your Heart

I listed it for GA. What do you think of it? --Legolas (talktome) 13:18, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Just fine. I envy how complete your articles are. With all the help from those books. Anyway, regarding its being on GAN, I randomly spotted some unreliable sources like discogs, although the content it supports isn't contentious. I think the "by"s in the credit section could be removed. And I am worried of the photo File:Openwourheartwhosthatgirl.jpg, you know, WP:NFCC #8 thing. Overall, its passable. --Efe (talk) 04:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
He he. Thanks for your help. I'll remove the by's. About the pic, well since it is being discussed in the tour section and enhances the understanding by giving a visual addition of the costume worn especially for the performance, do you think it will still fail WP:NFCC#8? I understand your concern cause nowadays Stifle and the crew are somewhat on a madness for tagging images. *shrug*--Legolas (talktome) 04:31, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
As long as it adds visual understanding, and the rationale on the image's page should be strong. Yes. I got tons of notifications from Stifle, but I understand. BTW, I took the liberty of doing some minor fixes on the article. =) --Efe (talk) 04:37, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Ya, I just saw it. Thanks again. --Legolas (talktome) 04:45, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Welcome my dear. BTW, if you have plans to watch Beyonce's concert in the US (pretty sure cameras are allowed), please do take pictures. Hehe. Thanks. --Efe (talk) 04:49, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm back in India now. But don't worry, my sis is going to the I Am.. tour. You'll get your pics :-)--Legolas (talktome) 04:59, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Wooooooooooo! How nice. Please extend my advance thank you to her. =) --Efe (talk) 05:01, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

(Outdent) Well I had to come back since my BF fell sick (chicken-pox, Damn It). My sis knows about me working on WP day and night. She thinks I'm crazy and gonna ruin my eyesight. :) But nevertheless, she loves going to tours and will go to B's tour also. My only regret of my stay in US is I missed Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour. :( Anyways I'll forward your thank to her. He he. --Legolas (talktome) 05:16, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)

Hey Efe, me again. Well, do you think that this paragraph does make the page looks like a "fan page?" Also, I want to know if it is notable to the lead section. Can you help me answering these questions? Thank you. =] Sparks Fly 19:57, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

I saw it was removed yesterday. I think its fine to add it on the lead, and its real good for the improvement of the lead. What I can suggest is add an attribution of the line "is being credited as having started the 'first major dance craze of both the new millennium and the Internet'", like who said the quoted phrase, then add an inline source due to the quotation. That will save it. --Efe (talk) 04:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the answer. I didn't sourced any of these informations because I saw that lead sections does not need sources if this same information is sourced in the main article. If you think that in this case, in particular, does need, I will do without problem. Sparks Fly 17:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

New FL criteria discussion: Final phase

Hello, I think we've hammered out a good revised Featured List criteria here. If this passes, there will be quite a few FLs that could soon be delisted just because of 3b. With that in mind, I'd like to get comments and opinions from all FLC regulars and everyone else who has participated in the discussion before it's implemented. Thanks, Scorpion0422 17:43, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey Efe

Welcome back!!! You were on quite a long leave!!! In the meantime I have been developing quite a few articles for GA. Check t-h-i-s out!! --Legolas (talk2me) 12:20, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. Yeah. I took a rest... because I have summer class, which started this week. Regarding "Poker", I am concerned, again, about the performance image. I thought you have already nominated "True Blue". --Efe (talk) 12:25, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I nominated True Blue the song, now I am working on True Blue the album. Can you take a look? Its in my sandbox. Can you tell me where I can get the chart performance? I tried searching for it but didnot found that much info. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:34, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I think its quite complete now. All you need to do is expand the lead. Good luck. --Efe (talk) 11:33, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Among The Oak & Ash deletion

Efe - I was a bit surprised to see a nearly-instantaneous deletion of the article for the relatively new band, Among The Oak & Ash. They're fronted by a prominent musician (Josh Joplin), who has a top 40 song and a decent amount of record sales from his previous albums/projects. While the article was a stub, I believe it is of a notable subject and would likely be expanded in the coming weeks. Jrclark (talk) 14:08, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

For most bands or musical ensembles, they must have released albums for them to be notable and significant. In this case, they are yet to release an album. Perhaps, as of now, we can merge any useful info from Oak to Joplin's. --Efe (talk) 00:40, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
