McWatters Family origins

Hello Finlay, do you have any knowledge on the history of the McWalters family name?

I can see from reading some very interesting articles that you have written, you have a vast knowledge on all things Scottish.

My research into the McWalters (McWatters) name has had varying levels of success.

Some say the name is from Mac Auters ( Norman / Gaelic), or that the name came from Caithness and the family hung around with Clan SINCLAIR. Another variation says it comes from son of Walter. But I believe Walters son ( Walter fitz Alan ) became the royal line of Stewarts?

Hope you give me a lead to any further information on the origins of the surname.

Hi, and sorry for never replying to yr message on my talk page w/r/t Judge Tugendhat: i was away travelling when i first saw it and meant to reply when i got back, and then i promptly forgot because the orange message, of course, didn't appear. Thanks for that. I've added what little info I had that you hadn't already found, and I think it's a pretty respectable article. Unfortunately we don't have really anything about his legal career for the thirty-some years before he became a judge, but refs are hard to come by. Worse, my contagious interest in Tugendhats has spread again (I came to Michael having read a book about MI5 which mentioned the assassination attempt on his brother). On researching Michael I've come across their father Georg: an Austrian army officer and economist and lawyer who fled the nazis, was suspected of being a German spy despite his jewish background, and founded a successful oil refinery. Vandalism on the page "Geography of Spain"

"If he removed references, why does your revert of him not restore any references? Why is the entire climate section of this article supported by so few references? There are whole paragraphs claiming climate zones, temperatures, and so forth, with no supporting reference at all. You're calling his removal of File:Climates of Spain.png vandalism, but it has no references either. Why not? If I were to reduce the climate section now to material that's supported by reliable sources it would be two sentences long. Why should any of this unreferenced stuff be trusted? "

That paper supports the Koppen classification claim. It contains a small blocky picture of the climate regions of Spain, quite unlike the detailed picture you claim is accurate. For the picture to be referenced, references must be on its image page and a heck of a lot more detailed than that. What are you talking about ? There is a reference, full stop. You challenge it by a question of scale, but the map is correct according to the source. Hello again. I've acquired the fonts you mentioned in your replies, but none of them look to match up with the fonts on the maps. How have you gathered the information about what fonts are used, and is it possible the fonts were already rasterized by the time you fetched said information from the PDF? To me it appears Helvetica is the most used for nearly everything, although I struggle to find the correct oblique font. I can not locate the other fonts you specified. 88.91.84.31 (talk) 12:02, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

I opened the PDF file in Okular (but other viewers like evince and Acrobat-reader work much the same) and had it list the embedded fonts, which it lists the font file names. I don't know of any easy way to determine the identities of any fonts, if any, that were rasterised rather than embedded. -- Finlay McWalter ☻ Talk 13:27, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
