Notability tag

[edit]

Hi, I saw that you added a notability stub to an article (Boomplay Music). Can you suggest what I can do to further enrich this page? All the references I have put are external and are the significant focus of those news/web articles. I am unsure as to what you'd like to see. Kindly help with any suggestions you might have? Babafemismyth (talk) 19:35, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Babafemismyth: References 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13, and 14 are not reliable and should be removed. Ideally you want to find any reliable source from outside Nigeria and add that. A lot of the article is unsourced and slightly promotional in tone, this is not ideal. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 19:41, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Frayae: Thanks. That's a bit weird because even the page Spotify references it's "About Us" page and there's not a lot of coverage outside Nigeria/Africa, as it is based in Nigeria and there's not a lot of international coverage of it. Ill continue to find sources and will add any I can find. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Babafemismyth (talkcontribs) 20:49, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

BBVA

[edit]

Hi! No criticism of what you did, in good faith and in response to a specific request, but I've moved BBVA (which just happens to be on my watchlist) back to the title it's been at for the last fourteen years or so (until somebody moved it in July). I think that's a move that shouldn't have been made without discussion (based on my reading of WP:ACRONYMTITLE). Hope this is OK with you? Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:22, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fine by me. Banco Bilbao Vizcaya ArgentariaBBVA (bank)BBVABanco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria. Looks like someone moved it without much understanding of the guidelines. I agree that a RM would be best if they wanted it moved again. No opinion myself on which title is best. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 18:39, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I too have no opinion on the best title, and indeed about zero interest in the topic. Oh, the joy of Wikipedia! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:10, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fyers wikipedia page

[edit]

Hi Frayae. Thank You for going through references and letting me know which resource is reliable. Can you tell me please how many reliable references are required to create a page on Wikipedia? Shall I remove all the references that are not reliable? .... Shashank — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shashank10490 (talkcontribs) 07:00, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Shashank10490: You should remove all the unreliable sources. If there are any other reliable sources then add them. Make sure to vote keep in the deletion debate, starting your message with * '''Keep''' and ending it with ~~~~. Explain why you think the company is notable and point out what reliable sources there are. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 09:39, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Frayae. I have re-written that page for Fyers and mentioned only those references which are reliable and removed all the unreliable references as you said. Now I think this page compliance all guidelines of Wikipedia. Could you please vote in favor of Fyers Page in Articles for deletion. Shashank10490 (talk) 11:46, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Good job. I have struck my nomination and pointed out the improvements. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 12:08, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Frayae, can you recommend a copywriter, knowing the Wikipedia system/policies as non-conformance issues seem to be the issue. Much appreciated, Zsolt -- Zsoltnyiri (talk) 17:50, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Zsoltnyiri:, I can do some copywriting if you like. Otherwise you could ask at the teahouse. I will point out that the problem with the version of your sandbox I saw was a complete lack of reliable independent sources of information about the subject. These sources are an absolute requirement for verification, a core content policy. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 18:01, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Frayae, I submitted my first contribution but I was striked with G11. What I do not understand is that I followed the format of very similar pages in the same category. What is the major difference between them and my submission that makes it "Unambiguous advertising or promotion"? Cryptoctopus777 (talk) 20:21, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This Steem cryptocurrency page is very similar to other in the same category, a category which is so prone to spam that it is under special administrative measures. There are a thousand and one other topics that are not new cryptocurrencies which you could be writing about. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 20:29, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Frayae, thank you so much for the Barnstar and for recognising my efforts, I really appreciate it, thank you :) Thanks for moving the disambiguation page at requested moves, as Liberty Charter High School is no longer a disambiguation page, any ideas what I could do regarding Liberty Charter High School (disambiguation)? There's nothing currently linked to this, but will I need to take this to RfD? Please let me know, thank you Steven (Editor) (talk) 21:41, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged Liberty Charter High School (disambiguation) for speedy deletion. I don't think anything more complicated is needed as it was recently made by RussBot and should be uncontroversial maintenance. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 21:53, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hymnodist?

[edit]

Thank you for moving "Hymnodist" to "Hymnwriter" this morning, following the consensus of nearly a month on the Talk page.

But I since see that the move has been reverted. I'm looking for a reason as to why it has been reverted, given that there seemed to be consensus. There seems no apparent reason for the reversion, nor any notification to me as proposer. (You'll note that my original proposal included "ping"s on interested parties.) Could you point me to the reason for the reversion? Thanks. Feline Hymnic (talk) 15:06, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, the reversion was by The Anome, and can be seen at Special:Diff/860851932. Although it is true that this was discussed on the talk page first, the only procedural way to gain a "consensus" is to open a requested move discussion which is then listed on WP:RM for at least seven days. Undoing a move made without a RM discussion can be done controversially, this is what happened here. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 16:08, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

CadZZilla

[edit]

Hi Frayae; I'm a bit confused by the result of the rename request for CadZZilla (custom car) to be moved to CadZZilla. (your request page diff). I was hoping the article would end up at CadZZilla, but it seems still to be at CadZZilla (custom car). Would you please let me know what the plan/issue is? thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 21:04, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is complex. The solution largely depends on deciding what capitalisation is wanted. I then should be able to straighten it all out again. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 21:58, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Frayæ. It seems to have landed at Cadzzilla now; I'm content. --Tagishsimon (talk) 20:06, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? There was definitely not consensus to move the page, it was a clear "no consensus". Furthermore, it appears your close is a supervote since your closing summary does not match the discussion. Sources provided showed ONEOK to be the WP:COMMONNAME. As far as MOS:TM goes, it has to be a "style already in widespread use", which was shown throughout both discussions that Oneok is not in widespread use. The only two examples given had counterexamples at the same site. Could you please back out of your close and relist? Thanks, -- Tavix (talk) 13:26, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I do appreciate your position and carefully considered the issue.

I considered the following policy points:

  1. The application of MOS:TMRULES is consistent in that there has to be a very good reason for the title to be uppercase. Titles on Wikipedia are lowercase wherever possible as a house style. Thus the onus is generally to show why the title should be uppercase. The issue of which title was the status quo does not overcome this. For this reason I assigned no weight to which title may have been the status quo.
  2. It is very unusual to apply either WP:COMMONNAME or WP:RECOGNIZABILITY to issues of capitalisation. Attempts to do so are often rejected. Unfortunately in this RM there was no debate on the issue, regardless I assigned less weight to this argument than arguments based on the relevant MOS:TMRULES guideline.

In closing the discussion I considered:

  1. Relisting was unlikely to further clarify the issue, at the point of participants having to say "support per last time" it is clear the matter has been discussed at length and needs closure. It was also in the RM backlog.
  2. Yourself was the only relevant oppose vote. Corkythehornetfan said quite clearly "Unless articles like NASCAR are moved, I will oppose any requested moves in this area." diff Which is clearly unhelpful as NASCAR is a non-comparable acronym for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. For this reason I consider Corky's opinion less useful in determining consensus.
  3. There were three people supporting. All of which had clearly considered the points and evidence put forward by yourself. Discounting Corky, you were the only valid oppose voter. Including Corky, this is still a 3:2 majority. Generally closes should follow the numerical difference.

I stand by my close as Consensus to move; The lowercase title is clearly supported by arguments considering the sources available and MOS:TMRULES. Of course there's a move review option. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 14:32, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

CadZZilla'd

[edit]

I know perfectly well copy-pastes aren't a good idea. Both the redirects were already used, so there was no way to move it back. What I probably should have done was simply break the redirect in the first place, but it seemed like adding "(custom car)" was a good idea. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 18:52, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In future you can list the page at WP:RM/TR in the "revert undiscussed moves" section. A pagemover or admin will then do it for you. It is really very important not to create copy & paste moves, for any reason. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 19:00, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

list of Icelandic writers

Thank you for quality expansions of articles such as Women in Iceland and List of Icelandic writers, with drafts for some of them, for constructive reviewing of articles for creation, such as Warsaw Ghetto Museum, for page moves with understanding for the intricacies of lower and upper case, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

glue (software) article deleted

[edit]

Hi, I'm not a Wikipedia expert. I was trying to create a page on glue (software), and saved it for a second to go get the reference: Beaumont C, Goodman AA, Greenfield P (2015) Hackable User Interfaces In Astronomy with Glue. Astronomical Data Analysis Software an Systems XXIV (ADASS XXIV), Proceedings of a Conference Held 5-9 October 2014 at Calgary, Alberta Canada. Edited by A. R. Taylor and E. Rosolowsky. San Francisco: Astronomical Society of the Pacific, p 101., and in the interim you deleted the page. Can you please give me a minute next time? Thanks--Alyssa — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aagie (talkcontribs) 18:52, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aagie (talkcontribs) 19:38, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Honestly, I don't know why it was deleted after being moved to draftspace. A7 only applies to articles in the mainspace, not drafts; drafts are typically only speedy deleted if they have serious problems, such as are a copyvio, pure vandalism, or obvious advertising.--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 20:28, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thank you for looking at the page I created. Can you provide me with some ideas on how to improve the quality? Cindiecat7 (talk) 20:18, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Cindiecat7: I think the article could be better with more links to other articles. The article only provides an overview of a topic which there is a 113 page official summary about.link There is more interesting details about setting and architecture which could be included. If you haven't already, go to Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places and read their help pages. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 20:38, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Frayae, Thanks for your feedback. As suggested, I've updated the content and added some more sources. Please check and let me know your feedback. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naina584 (talkcontribs) 09:49, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
