bird flu[edit]

You say "I'm doing a Social Studies project on the bird flu." Do you mean H5N1 or the disease H5N1 causes ? Because these days that's what most people mean when they say "bird flu". But H5N1 is just one of many subtypes of Influenzavirus A that causes bird flu. For example Spanish flu in 1918 was caused by a bird adapted form of H1N1 and so Spanish flu was a bird flu also. Much less pathogenic H1N1 strains still exist in the wild today that are human adapted, causing roughly half of all human flu infections in 2006. But it also exists in bird adapted forms that do not infect humans but cause bird flu in birds. WAS 4.250 08:47, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey![edit]

Hey Sushi! Since you're are a member of Wikiproject CCM, I thought you might be interested in joining the Inspirational Music Wiki. It's really small, so we need more editors. By the way, I love Rebecca St. James, too! -- P.B. Pilhet / Talk 20:02, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject CCM[edit]

I've done a lot of work on updating the Wikipedia:WikiProject Contemporary Christian music page, making it more user friendly as well as adding whole sections to the page so that we can better collaborate on improving articles under the scope of the project. Please swing on by and take a look! -- Pepsi2786 09:02, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies[edit]

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:51, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Narnia News
  • The WikiProject has been a little quiet lately. There are still quite a lot of Narnia stubs. It has been nearly three months since we last worked on Minor characters in The Chronicles of Narnia, which still looks very much like a draft page. That would be a nice article to get into the main namespace.

To-do
Clipboard.svg
  1. Add characters and bios to minor character draft page.
  2. Expand Narnia stubs.
  3. Place links to the Narnia Portal on article pages by using {{portal|Narnia}}.
  4. Add the stub template {{Narnia-stub}} to articles in the category Category:Stub-Class Narnia articles so that there are the same number of articles in Category:The Chronicles of Narnia stubs.
  5. Link the first mention of a year in all Narnia-related articles to Narnian timeline.
  6. Rewrite character articles to use the Narnian character example article format.
  7. Adopt an article and improve it to the best of your ability.
  8. Wikify The Chronicles of Narnia article, especially the new lead and Narnian Universe sections
From the founder

I am proud to present our first issue of the WikiProject Narnia Newsletter. I decided that we needed to alert everybody who had expressed interest in the project that there is much work to be done! Please check in every once in a while at the project talk page, and tell other project members what you've been up to in terms of Narnia articles.

Article of the Month: Edmund Pevensie
  • Edmund Pevensie is a major character in The Chronicles of Narnia. He appears as a principal character in three of the seven books. Edmund was the second to enter Narnia, although he tried to betray his siblings to the White Witch. However, Edmund managed to help save Narnia by neutralizing the White Witch's most powerful weapon, her wand.
Collaboration of the Month: Shasta (Narnia)
  • Shasta is currently quite short and not much of his background has been mentioned. The article also lacks images – but make sure if you upload one, you include a FU rationale. Contribute!

Tania Roxborogh etc.[edit]

Hallo, S-Bahn, wie geht's?

When I called you a "fan" of Tania Roxborough, I was half joking. But I guess you must have some positive feelings about her to fix up her Wikipedia entry. Good job.

I see from your userboxes that you enjoyed the Neverending Story film. I also see that you take German at school. Do yourself a favour and read Die Unendliche Geschichte. The film just cannot compare to the book: The book is a book about someone reading a book. The movie is a movie about someone reading a book. The whole book is set up to make you realize that it's about you. That just can't be done the same way in a movie. From the page on the movie:

The novel's author, Michael Ende, felt that this adaptation's content deviated so far from his book that he requested they either halt production or change the name; when they did neither, he sued them and subsequently lost the case. He did succeed in having his name removed from the opening credits, although his name does appear in the closing.

Anyway, enough pontificating. Have a nice epoch.

--Slashme 07:06, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I have always believed that the best way to learn a language is by biting off more than you think you can chew. On the principle of "know your enemy" I took Mein Kampf out of the univ. library after two years of high-school German. Whew. It's written in the good old traditional German style, which Mark Twain so excellently described:

Whenever the literary German dives into a sentence, that is the last you are going to see of him till he emerges on the other side of his Atlantic with his verb in his mouth.

It's also rather incoherent in places, and the edition I got was printed in Fraktur, and emphasis was added to words by s e p a r a t i n g the letters. What a pain to read. But I learned a lot of German that way!
Die Unendliche Geschichte is not nearly as rough going. Where Hitler is a turn-off, and you have to push yourself to keep going, Ende writes page-turners. And it's written to be accessible to kids, so it's not impossible to read, you'll just need a dictionary here and there. I read it when I was about 20, and I loved every page, so it's definitely not just a children's book. --Slashme 09:21, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mercyme Undone.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mercyme Undone.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use.
