ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:05, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dahisar, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Western and In. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:01, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Overlinking

[edit]

I have reverted a few of your edits, at Naigaon, for overlinking - so I have come to explain the reason.
As explained at ‎ WP:OVERLINKING we do not add circular links back to the same page, and we only link the first use of a term in an article, and we do not normally link:-

  • Everyday words understood by most readers.
  • Names familiar to most readers, including;- major countries, major cities, major languages, major nationalities/ethnicities and major religions
  • Common units of measurement and dates

There are many articles where these are already, incorrectly, linked; however, city, north, south, east and west are clearly common words, and are not capitalized (unless they are at the beginning of a sentence) and India is a major country, so should not be linked - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 15:21, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Usage of Template:Infobox settlement

[edit]

I have reverted your edit on Vasai and would like to explain it here because it seems you might need to read the documentation on the infobox template for settlement.

  • name is the name of the place, so you shouldn't be putting a link to the Vasai Road Railway Station in place of the town's name.
  • settlement_type is just for its type (City, Town, Village, Hamlet, Municipality, Reservation, etc) so you shouldn't have written City in Palghar. Also, you shouldn't overlink "City" and "in" since they are extremely common words.

Please read Template:Infobox settlement to understand its usage in more details. Aithus (talk) 07:22, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

City & Palghar are not common words as they both have different meanings. A City is a Large & Important Town whereas Palghar is a District that covers the areas from Naigaon to Dahanu Road. Keenan Fernandes (talk) 07:26, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Info Added by me for Vasai in Wikipedia was valid as explained above. Further it's upto You whether to agree or disagree with the above explaination by me. Keenan Fernandes (talk) 07:30, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain how putting the link to the Vasai Road railway station as the settlement place name be valid?
Please note that my comment about overlinking doesn't say anything about Palghar, only for city and in.
Also, if you use colon(s) in front of your edit on this page, it will be much easier to read our conversation thread. See Wikipedia:Indentation Aithus (talk) 07:40, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think adding a link for certain terms in Wikipedia should make any difference, as the link helps people to get directed to the website directly to know more about something. Keenan Fernandes (talk) 07:45, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that not everyone has the same opinion on everything. But Wikipedia has a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking. Aithus (talk) 07:49, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ya right so if u feel so then it's ok I have no issues. Keenan Fernandes (talk) 07:51, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Naigaon, you may be blocked from editing.
You have repeatedly been told not to link common words, such as "city", not to link back to the same artilce, to only link the first use and only use a simple settlement type such as city. - Arjayay (talk) 12:07, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Its You (Arjayay) who vandalizes Wikipedia. Coz I always have added correct info in Wikipedia. Whereas u have always been removing the right info I add in Wikipedia that is very Wrong. U have no right to remove my added info. Coz many other Wikipedia editors too make changes like me in Wikipedia wherever required. Keenan Fernandes (talk) 16:46, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indic script

[edit]

Information icon - Please do not add any Indic script, to any of our India related articles, as you did at Borivali, and several other articles, as this contravenes WP:NOINDICSCRIPT - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 12:18, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The info I add in Wikipedia is always right. I don't know why do you (Arjayay) have a problem with my added info always. As a Wikipedia Editor, I have full right to make changes in Wikipedia i.e add accurate info & remove unwanted info in Wikipedia. You have no right to send me any warnings of Blocking me whenever u wish. Coz if u do so it means that u have a personal grudge with me on Wikipedia.
