The Admin's Barnstar
Thanks for your great admin work and contributions to Wikipedia. Your also always there when someone needs help. Thank you! TBrandley 05:17, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I want to use STiki for reverting Vandalism, But How the way to use it please tell me, I already have visited the page Wikipedia:STiki But I didn't get to know the usage of it, Thank You Greatuser (talk) 13:27, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You also asked exactly the same question of Reaper Eternal and his response wasn't positive. I think Kudpung might not be the softest other parent for you to ask. WormTT(talk) 13:32, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
After checking your edits since you joined Wikipedia barely two weeks ago, I do really think you need more experience before wanting to use Stki. Do remember that that not all inappropriate edits are strictly vandalism. You may wish to check out the excellent anti-vandalism training programme at the WP:CVUA and do a couple of hundred manual vandalism reverts first while also learning all about Stiki from your trainer. When you have completed the course successfully, you may be able to apply for the use of Stiki. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:48, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and please stop reverting admin decisions from the PERM pages! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:53, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

You deleted an article that I was building for The Legion Clan.

The group was one of the first professional e-sports organisations that involved contracted gamers. It replicated what is often seen in South Korea today, but in the late 1990's. The group have many World Cyber Game winners, and sponsored numerous $50k tournaments over the years. That is just the beginning; I would consider that significant and was updating the article to reflect that, yet you deleted the article very quickly.

Is there a way to create articles without publishing them publicly, but allow other users to edit them if directly linked? Then we can publish it in accordance to the guidelines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Realn (talkcontribs) 04:00, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can create the article in your Wikipedia userspace before it is published. When it is ready please ask me or another administrator to review it for you before it it published to main space. To start the article in your user sub page, please click this red link: user:Realn/The Legion Clan (draft). Please ensure that the article complies with our notability criteria at WP:BIO and WP:ORG. Any people listed must also individually conform to our notability criteria and be referenced. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:10, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Please can you explain me what is CSD A7 exactly? and please explain me how to detect copyright violations. ThanksSriharsh1234 07:33, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For CSD A7 see WP:A7. Put simply , it's for an article that makes no reasonable claim(s) to significance or importance whether referenced or not. This is different from notability, although an obviously non notable article would fall under this category. Having a long list of references is also not automatically an indication of notability, that's why they all have to be checked out carefully. Detecting COPYVIOS is best explained at WP:NPP - because I wrote it, and there's no need for me to repeat it here. Hope this helps, if anything is not clear don't hesitate to ask again. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:45, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Subtle Vandalism

[edit]

I received your message on the counter vandalism talk page and I was wondering if you could help me. As I said on the talk page, I was wondering what sort of things constitute the subtler side of vandalism. I don't, however, have any examples I can give you. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 10:46, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Most blatant vandalism is caught by a bot such as ClueBot that reacts to keywords such as, for example, rude words. Most other blatant vandalism is caught visually by editors on patrol at Recent Changes or by using custom watchlists for prokects they are members of. I have over 11,000 articles on my standard watchlist which includes many articles that are prone to vandalism such as school articles, for example. Subtle vandalism occurs frequently on school articles, such as people changing the statistics or numbers; implausible changes such as '600 students' to '6000 students', or '7% GCE A-level passes' to '99% A-Level passes'. Text changes such as 'X High School has the highest number of students' to 'X High School has the lowest number of students', or '..in the county' to '...in the country'. I know these are very simple examples, but it's a start. To learn more, consider enrolling with one of the trainers at the CVUA. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:30, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You should use the Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard. Be absolutely sure that the copyright declaration you choose complies with our regulations for images. I'm not sure what you mean by 'background template' but it's my guess you want the template:infobox. There are many kinds of infoboxes, the one you probably need is template:infobox musician. Request for Administrator Status Review

[edit]

Hello Kudpung, I am Vacation9. I believe we may have met each-other a couple times on Wikipedia. Since you have your name on the list of editors willing to nominate a user for Adminship, I was wondering if you could give me a review (preferably at User:Vacation9/Admin Status Review) on my track to Adminship, and what you think I need to do before you or someone else could nominate me. (I am not requesting nomination at this time.) This would be really helpful for me. To make it easier for you if you decide to undertake this task, here are some links to various things I have done: Feedback Review Log CSD Log NOTE: This CSD log was only started recently; you can see all of my CSD noms here, in the summaries of the User Talk Page notifications. my rights edit count. Thank you for your time and I hope you decide to take the time to review my contributions. Vacation9 (talk) 22:48, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The short cut for you is to review my RfA criteria and read WP:Advice for RfA candidates and all the links and footnotes. If you check all the boxes you would have a very good chance of passing at RfA. Is there any particular reason why you are already considering adminship? At the moment you still have a very long way to go. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:20, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you think I still have a long way to go? I have done/can check at least 80% of your criteria (not all of my CSDs are in my CSD log) and I have Rollback and Reviewer permissions. Vacation9 (talk) 13:58, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think this is where you are most unlikely to meet the community's test of adminship for at least another 9 months and several thousand mainspace edits; and I'm still curious as to why you are considering adminship already so very early in your Wiki career. Do keep up the good work though, and try to create some articles. And do read WP:Advice for RfA candidates and all the links and footnotes (I wrote it). Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:11, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Concur with Kudpung ... anything less than 5,000 edits will exponentially reduce your chances, and a failed/withdrawn RFA adds another challenge for next time. Adminship is not a trophy  :-) (✉→BWilkins←✎) 12:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at his edits[1] and compare them to mine[2]. Today, he has cross-over to my Wikipedia Common edits, discussion, and debates. To shorten the work for you, I will categorize this. Back in August 2012, I asked him to stop or rather told him.[3] He continues to do this day. Not only that, he falsely accuse me of uploading copy-righted images. I have mistakenly done this, but now he is trying to make it habit issue and hold this against me for all of my uploads. This is what I could bring on short notice. This is only what I remember. This is not complete. Also please keep in mind that he probably aware of this discussion (because he follows all of my edits).

File mover right revisited :)

[edit]

Hi there. You very recently denied my request for file mover right, motivating it by a need to show more experience in the file namespace. Accordingly, I have cued up 76 rename media requests for album covers uploaded under meaningless, randomly generated names, giving each a descriptive name. Upon sharing this on #wikipedia-en IRC channel, I was encouraged by file mover-enabled user:Theopolisme to request the right again, without delay ([20:26:01] <Theopolisme> Why not just apply now? WP:IAR). Meanwhile, another fellow channel user and file mover, user:ToAruShiroiNeko performed all 76 file moves. I then cleaned up by relinking all linking articles and deleting all templates from the requests, emptying the queue/category. So... would you consider all that to be sufficient acquired experience on en wiki to be trusted with a file mover bit? :) Regards, --Mareklug talk 05:04, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have accorded you the right, but please note that I do not take into consisdration recommendations from other inexperienced users, especially social chat on the non official IRC channels. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:39, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My Article

[edit]

Hello. You recently deleted my article on Akash Maharaj, because it had no relevance to being on wikipedia. However, it was listed on requested articles in the law section. I am relatively new to wikipedia, so if you could clarify why a requested article would be deleted for lack of relevance, that would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks,

--Prufroc11-- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prufrok11 (talkcontribs) 13:26, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There was no article. A page you created contained only one word. It was deleted because main pages are not allowed to be used for testing how editing works. For that you can use the Wikipedia:sandbox. A previous article of that name was deleted by community consensus. It is unlikely that the subject of that article will ever pass Wikipedia criteria for inclusion. Please sign your posts when leaving messages on talk pages. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 17:31, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Being a representative

[edit]

Dear Kudpung,

My only contribution to the IAPSS pages on Wikipedia is to update them because they are outdated, including projects that are not active for years. Wikipedia is not a platform for advertising, but information. My role will be to provide accurate information on the association so that people know what IAPSS is. I've read the Neutral Point of View wiki and will totally implement it throughout my editing!

Thanks, George — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kinggiorgos (talkcontribs) 09:45, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I found it. I didn't know you could import from the Russian Wikipedia?—cyberpower ChatOffline 11:54, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Russian Wikipedia? I don't know anytjig about that, but the js script is somewhere among the mess in my User:Kudpung/vector.js page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:11, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's importing it from there. Here is the code snippet "importScriptURI('http://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-markblocked.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');"—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 13:36, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... Well, I can't remember where I got it from - probably cribbed from another user's js page. It was a long time ago, but it's proven to be one of the most useful scripts that I as an admin have ever come across. It highlights every blocked user's name everywhere it appears on the site. Indispensable when working from a heavy watchlist like mine (11,000+ not including the talk pages on it), and scanning through lists of voters/commentators in various places such as RfA, AfD, and other RfC and noticeboards. It works a treat too at SPIs with long lists of socks, to see who has already been blocked. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:56, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can imagine. I could never handle wa watchlist that big.—cyberpower ChatOnline 14:04, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a newsletter

[edit]

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Hello sir,As i know there are no shortcuts to become an administrator but I am dreaming to be an administrator one day.I am not deserving now but everybody want to improve then please tell me the various fields and tasks in which i need to to enhance myself so i will apply for sysop in future.Thanking you---zeeyanketu talk to me 18:26, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:Advice for RfA candidates and follow all the links, footnotes, and essays listed in it. Then read User:Kudpung/RfA criteria. Adminship also requires an almost perfect level of English, and a clear demonstration of adult responsibility. Forgive me for asking, but why are you considering adminship so early in your Wikipedia career? Adminship is not a reward or a trophy. Good luck! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:33, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,Thanks a lot,I had been using many social networking websites for many years but at last found nothing but only time waste and no improvement in skills and knowledge.Six months before,I started editing by chance only and did not know that real or common people like us are behind all these edits.Earlier some good faith edits were done by me and i got warnings. From there, interest was developed in me and i do editing with great pleasure because whenever i have free time ,i never felt boring because of this only and my working schedule allow me to spend time at wiki.I am not going to apply now ,just asking to be prepared in future. Thanks again---zeeyanketu talk to me 03:31, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rescue

[edit]

The reason I spend my time rescuing articles, even ones that paid editors have apparently been involved with, is because 1) the intention is to transform the article into something neutral and non-promotional, which is better for Wikipedia than no content at all if the subject is appropriate for inclusion, 2) it doesn't actually matter what paid editors work on because that doesn't change what sources do or don't exist on that subject nor does it change editors' ability to appraise those sources and 3) Even though I am against paid editing, I dislike the idea of deleting articles on the basis of a paid editor having been involved with them when there is potential for improvement. This feels like AfD being used as a vehicle for doling out punishment for unconstructive editing behaviors, which is what blocks are for, not AfD. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 04:36, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that the above message was strictly necessary - I voiced my opinion at the AfD. If the article is able to provide first class, reliable independent sources in sufficient depth, number, and scope, then it will probably be kept and I would vote accordingly - promotional tone alone is not a reason for deletion. For my part however, because paid editing is always done with an intention to promote, I will never spend my volunteer time improving or sourcing an article that is obviously created for financial gain or attract more customers for a product or service whether or not it contributes knowledge to Wikipedia. What others do is entirely up to them and I do not respect them any less for it. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:41, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe not strictly necessary, but you were commenting on how rescuing articles ought to be done, and I wanted to express some disagreement with you. I also am not sure how you can respect other editors who choose to improve such articles and "see no reason for it." Could you explain that? I take no offense and am not concerned that you would rather not contribute to those articles, but it does make it seem like I'm wasting my time when editors say such things. I do respect your opinions about Wikipedia a great deal, because you are thoughtful about it, but I also like to challenge them. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 06:59, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Jethro, I don't mind my actions being challenges as long as having to reply is not a waste of my editing time. Let's first get some facts straight: nowhere have I said how articles ought to be rescued. Secondly, everyone is entitled to their opinion and unless they are complete idiods, I respect their opinions - some people are inclusionist, soe are deletionist/exclusionist, and I happen to be neither. You need to understand that it is quite possible for one to have a espect for someone who does not share your opinion - just because they do things differently is not a reason not to respect people who still have humanitarian objectives. I even have great respect for the WMF who constantly bungle things and get things very wrong. but I am not ever going to do the dirty work for lazy editors or those who expect me to offer my work for free so that they can earn money from it; and as long as I respect the five pillars 100% I'm not going to be told how to spend my free time. That's all there is too it. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:50, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The respect is mutual, I assure you. My motivation for responding to you here is because it would have been off-topic at the AfD and because I disagreed with you. But I don't understand how this is not a statement about how other editors should rescue articles (or more specifically, what articles they should not rescue):
I see no reason why the volunteer community should spend their time rescuing something that has been paid for and aims to increase the profit of a company.
I'm sorry that this is wasting your time. Recently, I feel like that is all I am good at doing on your talk page even though I'm just interested in hearing more about your views on Wikipedia. You make a lot of bold statements that I sometimes would like to respond to in some way. My intention is not to bother you nor to be confrontational, but just to better understand your opinions because I don't feel like I have the whole picture. I will not bother you so much if this is becoming a problem, just let me know. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 17:16, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There's a lot of misunderstanding of English on this Wikipedia. Ah, now if we could all communicate in a language as precise as German or Latin, wouldn't it make life so much easier? Read again that 'statement' of mine you put in italics above. It's blatantly obvious that it's an 'expression' of personal opinion and is nowhere near an order, command, recommendation, or even suggestion. The very reason why the collaborative environment on Wikipedia is generally so poor is that people just love playing with other people's semantics. If they would read the words rather than putting their own negative spin on what is said, it would be a healthier place. Now, is that another bold statement? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:58, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's clear we read English very differently, and that is about it. I assure you I was reading your words as I have read many things here, and I do not play with semantics. Your words are received differently by different people, and it is probably a failing of both the language and myself to understand them as you do sometimes. I hope you can trust me when I say that I do not get any enjoyment out of spinning anybody's words, particularly those I respect here. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 04:39, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In July of this year this admin just stepped in and deleted their talk page claiming it was by user request, but there is no obvious evidence of such a request. Of course even if there was it is extremely rare to delete a user talk page and there needs to be some compelling reason to do so, which is also not evident. And it appears these deletions (user page and talk archives were also deleted) were the only administrative actions taken by the deleting admin in the last two years, and their last before apparently leaving. They registered their account six months after Wiglaf retired, so it's not as if they were old friends or something. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:11, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much. UnitedStatesian (talk) 23:46, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wiglaf and Berig are the same person with two admin accounts. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:54, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that would explain the notification part of it anyway. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:50, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Still, with only 53 edits in he last 3 years, perhaps it's time to rethink our policy on what constitutes an active admin. People who run for adminship and then do practically nothing after being granted the bit are suspect - especially when they feel the need to 'scramble' their passwords. We can't allow possibly compromised sysop accounts. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:30, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are several proposals right now at WT:ADMIN, but they only deal with completely inactive admins, as in no edits at all for a year or more. Personally I think more harm is done by these old-school admins who got in back when RFA was a cake walk and only use their tools a few times a year, usually incorrectly. I have personally put several of them on notice to just stop using their tools unless and until they are back up to speed on current practices. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:10, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]

Hi Kudpung! I was wondering if you are open to reviewing me as an editor at my editor review. If you are too busy right now, don't bother, and even if you aren't, you obviously don't have to. Thanks regardless, TBrandley 02:31, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Professor is here for lulz

[edit]

The professor is back doing the same things. You gave him a last warning here. It would appear he is WP:NOTHERE and instead enjoyz the lulz. Is it time for action yet? Cheers... Zad68 14:52, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've had this user on my watchlist for a while. Don't hesitate to leave any appropriate warnings for anything I may have missed. I'm rather conservative about warning editors but I've just given a final warning for his edit to Bill Keller (televangelist). Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:04, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done?

[edit]

I noticed you marked my request for rollback as  Not done, and you didn't leave a reason why. Can you please explain? -- Mason Doering talk 01:32, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the comment by another admin who left the repeat request for a second opinion. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:36, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've more than doubled my edits and made sure to add edit summaries to my non-vandalism reverts (which was mentioned in my first) since my last request. Is this still really not enough for the rollback permission? -- Mason Doering talk 01:42, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is also this to be taken into consideration. If you are, or have been using multiple accounts, please cross-link the user pages. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:55, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's pretty much proven that I'm not Wagner, I don't really see how this is really a problem. -- Mason Doering talk 02:02, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, but it's been technically confirmed that you are user:Srbstbsrb. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:05, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As I said in the SPI, srbstbsrb is my brother. He also hasn't made any edits since the creation of one article. -- Mason Doering talk 02:08, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So please demonstrate a bit more experience of editing, especially some work other than just mainly patrolling for vandalism. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:13, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

pedda bala siksha(telugu)

[edit]

The difference in age between siblings can not be 84 years and more. in the page on pedda bala siksha the creater of the page overlooked this fact. The original writer Puduri seetha Rama sastri wrote this book on 1832, and his brother Narayana sastri WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE EDITED IT 84 YEARS LATER IN 1916, when the publishers Vavilla Rama sastri, and sons REPRINTEDIT IN 1916. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Severemohan (talkcontribs) 09:12, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reopen Im Siwan page

[edit]

Hello,

On October 1, 2012, you deleted page "Im Siwan", a member of a korean boyband call ZE:A. I was wondering if I can try to restore it or fix the problems it had for you to deleted the page. Thank you!

S2nancy (talk) 02:59, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The page contained little more than one sentence and the article was completely unreferenced. If you believe it would pass our criteria for inclusion per WP:BIO and WP:BAND you are welcome to go ahead and recreate the page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:07, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding credit

Joanna Clapps Herman's page was recreated. Looks like it was deleted via an AfD you started. I'd normally do a G4, but I did something really stupid and I'm currently at RfA. One of the opposes said I miss to many G4s and I'd rather not add fuel to the fire. So delete if needs be. Bgwhite (talk) 08:09, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My article

[edit]

I accidentally saved the article before I was done with it. I'm just trying to explain it in simpler terms. I actually think four stroke engine cycles are a fairly interesting topic, and students always have trouble understanding them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WolfDragon325 (talkcontribs) 12:08, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how this concerns me, I have never edited or tagged the article. Perhaps you should discuss your concerns with User BWilkins who closed the deletion discussion. It appears to jave been a correct and approriate close. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:08, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

copyrights

[edit]

Dear sir or Madam we are trying to create a page about an international piano competition that takes place in Greece. The" Association of the friends of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra" is the official organiser of the competition and has distributed the press release to the TSSO in order to promote it. As you can see at the article our official logo is at the right top part. We created an account in wikipedia in order to add a page for a contest that takes place in Greece the last 12 years. As a user we uploaded a trial file of the press release. All texts and fotos concerning the competition are issued by us and of course copyrights belong to us as the official organizers of the competition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fotsso (talkcontribs) 11:03, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

pedda balasiksha

[edit]

Puduru sitha rama sastri is credited with the first ever balasiksha written by him in 1836. In the write up on Pedda bala siksha , the revised edition of Pedda balasiksha published by Vavilla In the year 1916, it is claimed thatPuduru Sitha rama sastri's brother edited this version after a gap of 80 years, which is not possible to have such an age gap of 80 years between siblings. Puduru Narayana Sastri, in fact did the corrections and proof reading of Enugu Veera swamy 'Kasi Yatra Charithra" a Telugu travellogue in 1836, so he could not have edited the Vavilla's Pedda balasiksha in 1916 after 80 years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.248.176.61 (talk) 04:04, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
