Page Rejected

Hi Liance,

The company page I created was rejected due to the History section being unsourced. That section is actual history of this family owned business and unfortunately, we are unaware of websites or sources talking about the history of Baesman. What do you suggest we do?

Thanks! B3green22 (talk) 16:49, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

Question from Vitaium on Wikipedia:Assume good faith (00:41, 23 May 2023)

Hello @Liance:! How does Wikipedia identifies whether an edit is a good faith or bad faith? --Vitaium (talk) 00:41, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

Greetings Vitaium. Per WP:AGF, (quote) "Assuming good faith means assuming that people are not deliberately trying to hurt Wikipedia, even when their actions are harmful." It is up to each individual to decide whether an edit is as "good faith" or "bad faith" - generally, unless someone is carrying out deliberately harmful actions (vandalism, harassment, etc) most editors will assume they are not acting out of malice. Hope this helps. ~Liancetalk 19:26, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello Liance:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 3300 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Mail2 world New Article Draft

Look I'm just a newbie trying to create new articles. You shouldn't be so mean as to reject my draft outright ! You could just accept the draft and let others who are more experienced than I am to improve on it ! Adrain72 (talk) 23:48, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello Adrain72 - Articles must meet the general notability guidelines before they can be accepted into the mainspace. I denied your submission, but did not reject your draft - meaning that you and others are welcome to continue improving it and resubmit at a later time. You can seek help from others at WP:TEAHOUSE or WP:AFCHD if you require additional assistance. Thanks, ~Liancetalk 23:55, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Ken Bone (activist) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Of the universe -- Of the universe (talk) 00:41, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I have finished my review. The article is good, except for the fact that it calls Ken Bone an "activist" with no citation. Do you know whether there are good sources that call him an activist? If so, please add an inline citation. If not, just change the short description and the lead to not have the word "activist," and then I'll finish up the review. Of the universe - Thank you so much for performing the review. I apologize for the excessively late reply. My article on LangOps

Hi Lance, thank you for the insights on how to make my article better. I'm currently trying to reference as much as possible, but LangOps is a considerably new discipline in localization, as a result, we are lacking documentation on it and majority of information comes from blogs or articles, which might be considered unreputable? Creating a LangOps wikipedia page would be one of the first steps to creating a unified base of knowledge around this progressive discipline.

I would love it if you could help with specific pointers and which portions should I amend to make my article public again. I truly believe that this is for the benefit of localization industry and I'm encouraging experts from my field to contribute as much as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help to get this published again. Happy New Year!

Help with article.

Hello, good evening hope everything is well and you're in good health. I am a little confused to why my article got denied. I really want this article to be approved so I am willing to work with you to fix the incorrections made on the draft. The Tower I wrote about is fairly new, as for information and sources it comes from different media outlets such as Jersey digs or Yimby. I did look at similar articles for reference it's just that some buildings have a lot of information, and some don't. What can I do to get approved? Gamezilla2019 (talk) 21:58, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Article denied

Hi there,

This is a bit old at this point but I took a little bit of a Wikipedia hiatus due to life circumstances, apologies on not messaging earlier. My draft article for Sundial was denied a few months ago and I was wondering if I could get some more clarity on what steps I should take to have it approved. The spotify links spam I understood and tried to remove, but I'm a bit confused about the comment regarding the reliability of the sources? I checked and it doesn't seem like any of the sources are blogs/user generated as far as I can tell, so I'm unsure of exactly which ones you were referring to here.

Declined article

Hi, I see my article "Sharon Tettegah" was declined again and the general reason put was that it doesn't meet the minimum inline citation requirement. I'm not sure why. Could you please elaborate on what specifically is needed? Thank you! ST4603SB (talk) 00:28, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi ST4603SB, thanks for reaching out. On Wikipedia biographies of living persons have specific requirements where all stated facts need to be backed up by an appropriate source (you can visit that page for more details) as I noted in a comment on your draft. Please add the necessary citations so that information about your subject can be verified before resubmitting. Thanks. ~Liancetalk 16:20, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Request for Review of Revised Draft: Muntadher Saleh

Hi, I have revised the draft article on Muntadher Saleh following the guidelines provided in the Wikipedia:Spam policy, particularly addressing the issues related to promotional tone. The article has been rewritten to ensure a neutral and objective tone, focusing on verifiable facts and significant achievements without promotional language. I have also incorporated additional details and sources to enhance the article's credibility and comprehensiveness. I kindly request that you review the revised draft to determine if it meets Wikipedia's standards for neutrality and verifiability. If you find that there are still areas needing improvement, I would greatly appreciate your feedback and specific suggestions for further revisions. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards.

004bvan You need to resubmit your draft before it can be reviewed again (there is a "Resubmit" button at the top of the page). I usually do not do manual re-reviews for the sake of fairness, once you resubmit the draft it will automatically enter the draft queue and a reviewer will be able to pick it up. Moved message to new section Hi Bio315 - on Wikipedia all facts need to be cited by a source for verifiability. There are specific requirements for biographies of living persons as I noted in the feedback left on your talk page. Specifically, the majority of the "Chess Career" and "Strength & Style" sections are almost entirely uncited and you should add inline citations to reliable sources whenever you state a fact about the subject. Hope this helps. ~Liancetalk 01:29, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Nicholas Devlin

Hi.

You declined my draft again. The article is about a notable Albertan judge. I haven’t added to much information as I don’t want to work on it a lot and then have it rejected again. I’ve changed and added references hopefully it will be acceptable now. Lisha2037 (talk) 01:35, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi Lisha2037 - as noted in my feedback, at the time of your initial submission(s) that I declined the draft had only a primary source (the court's webpage) and a link to the subject' LinkedIn profile which is user generated content and not a reliable source. Seeing that the draft is properly supported by additional secondary sources and appears to be notable by WP:NJUDGE I will go ahead and accept the draft. In addition I would like to let you know that I declined your draft, not rejected it - a decline means the reviewer has provided feedback and you are encouraged to resolve the highlighted issues and resubmit. I hope this helps and thank you for your contributions! ~Liancetalk 01:42, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

AfC reviews

Hi. I saw your decline reasoning at Draft:Untitled Jurassic World Dominion Sequel, and I don't think "Currently, portions of this draft are unsourced" is appropriate reason to decline a draft at AfC. Per WP:AFCPURPOSE, "Articles that will probably survive a listing at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion should be accepted." The draft, when you reviewed it, already contained enough reliable sources to establish notability. I think it should have been accepted, with citation needed tags added to the statements that needed them. --Paul_012 (talk) 22:15, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out Paul_012. I was under the impression that AfC was also responsible for ensuring that draft articles are able to meet verifiability requirements for mainspace articles prior to acceptance. For ex. in that draft, there was a large blockquote directly copied from an unknown source, and several paragraphs that were also entirely unsourced at the time of my review. Has there been consensus or a discussion about whether reviewers should or shouldn't decline in these situations? ~Liancetalk 22:20, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
I'm not a regular at AfC (I only check on pages that turn up on Inceptionbot's listings), so I'm afraid I can't answer your specific question. What I know comes from the written instructions, but it's possible that actual practice may have shifted (in which case either the instructions will need updating or the project will need to engage reviewers in some major re-orientation). WT:WikiProject Articles for creation might be the better place to ask. --Paul_012 (talk) 22:46, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
Alright. In any case thank you for the heads up. I'll look into it further. ~Liancetalk 22:51, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Help with draft please!

Hey Liance,

Hope you're well, I just saw your message on my talk page. I was hoping you could give me some help/advise with my Draft: Draft:Early Echoic Skills Assessment and Program Planner. Let me know where you think I can add/remove elements to help the page get approved. I've gone through the prior reviewers comments and added more references to this assessment protocol. Risinglms (talk) 01:58, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi Risinglms - addressing the reviewers' comments is certainly a good start and will be the best thing you can do. I also see that you have done the proper paid editing disclosure which is also important. I would recommend reading WP:THREE and noting the best 3 sources on Draft talk:Early Echoic Skills Assessment and Program Planner, as well as leaving a comment for reviewers on the draft page itself letting them know that you have done so. That should help speed up the review process. Hope this helps. ~Liancetalk 18:40, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

Simon Olivier English page

Hi Liance,

I added references after all the sentences that contain an explicit statement, as you requested for the last revision. It is a bit unfortunate that most sources are in Dutch, and that we could not find sources in English. Does this mean we cannot generate an English page? If so, how could we solve this?

Thanks! BA WURorc (talk) 08:40, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

WURorc On the English Wiki sources are not required to be in English at all, they can be in any language as long as they are reliable - I would add the best sources you can locate to establish notability regardless of which language they are in. The only requirement is that the body of the wiki article itself is written in English. ~Liancetalk 18:43, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Happy to read that my actions were in line with the requirements. Hopefully the page will be accepted soon. WURorc (talk) 10:09, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

Request on 15:28:46, 30 May 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by AmitGuha

Thanks for your review comments. This biography was one of the deliverables for a Wikimedia project. I have submitted two other related drafts and both have been also rejected which is somewhat demoralising. The bar for accepting articles if quite high as it should be but it makes it hard for someone who is not a seasoned or regular contributor, I'm trying to understand the accepted best way to resolve the concerns before I resubmit this draft.

Will reducing the length of the article help? Is it acceptable to ask other seasoned editors to help with fixing the issues? Where can I ask for help? I realise Wikipedia is a volunteer organisation so it may not be reasonable to request others to help.

Also, I do not want to spend time trying to fix the article if it is unlikely to ever qualify to be a biography on Wikipedia.

Any help/guidance to a newbie is much appreciated. Thanks.

Amit Guha (talk) 15:28, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi AmitGuha, I appreciate you reaching out. Writing new wiki articles is tough, I can absolutely understand the struggles you are facing. There are several immediate points of feedback I can point out - as noted earlier, the tone of Draft:George Michell is highly promotional - segments like "is a world authority", "played a pivotal role" should be reworded to be more neutral (see MOS:PUFFERY). Additionally you state several explicit facts about the subject such as how they receive several awards - in biographies of living persons we generally require a source for these statements to meet our verifiability policy.
I would thoroughly review WP:NBIO before continuing work on a subject's article. If you feel like the subject clearly meets the criteria - then yes, if the draft is suitable it will eventually be accepted into the encyclopedia, and is worth working on. A subject that does not meet the criteria however will not survive as an article. Your draft makes claims about the subject that could qualify them for notability but does not have the secondary, reliable sources with significant coverage to back them up at the moment. This would be the thing I would work on most if you want to pursue getting the draft accepted. I hope this helps. ~Liancetalk 18:57, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

IndexNow article declined

Thank you for reviewing my article revisions on IndexNow. We're unsure how to correct the issues, as our comparable subjects have very similar and fewer resources than we've provided. I have added a few articles from a strong authority in SEO. Comparable articles include Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Search Console and Sitemaps. I'm not sure if we're having trouble because we have been categorized with Math and Science? We are not math and science and cannot figure out how to remove that categorization. We would like to add the category search engine webmaster tools but not sure how. Any guidance you can provide will be helpful. Thank you! VWellsMicro (talk) 21:00, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi VWellsMicro - articles on Wikipedia must meet the notability guidelines or they will not be accepted or be deleted. There is no way to get around this, you will have to find sources that demonstrate the subject's notability per the criteria. You can expedite the review process by identifying the WP:THREE best sources per the criteria at WP:GNG and comment these for reviewers. You will also need to address the multiple comments reviewers have already left. The categorization of a draft does not make a difference. It's true that other articles exist but these presumably meet the criteria, otherwise they would have been or will be eventually deleted.
In addition, could you please clarify what "we" refers to in your message? If you are being paid to edit by an employer you will need to follow the paid editing disclosure procedure or risk being banned by an administrator. I am not an admin but I just wanted to make you aware. Best, ~Liancetalk 19:45, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mr Masher38 (12:45, 5 June 2024)

Hi. I recently made a correction to a wikipedia page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilly_Gilly_Ossenfeffer_Katzenellen_Bogen_by_the_Sea (my first ever Wiki edit) but someone almost immediately reverted it. I am 100% sure my correction was, er... correct, as I actually listened to the episode beforehand to make sure. Have I made a faux pas in perhaps not informing the original editor, or should I have included some sort of citation: *I listened to it"? Would appreciate a bit of guidance, in case there is some editing etiquette I am missing. Thanks. --Mr Masher38 (talk) 12:45, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Hey Mr Masher38, apologies for the late reply. I see you've reached out to the reverting editor which is always a good first step. Based on that interaction, I'm going to assume the reason for the reversion was that you did not provide an inline citation to back up the statement you changed, since it's required on Wikipedia so that all statements are verifiable. In addition, you linked to a disambiguation page instead of a target article. I would try to find a source that can back up the statement you want to change, and cite it right after the sentence. Let me know if you have any more questions. Best, ~Liancetalk 19:55, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
Thank you, Liance. Having read through your reply and that of the reverting editor, I think you are probably correct in that I should have provided some evidence to back up my change before I submitted it. I'll put that down to a newbie's mistake. I have since provided the reverting editor with a link to a youtube video which clearly shows the reason for my editorial change and I shall leave it to him, as to whether he wishes to correct the article himself. Thank you for your time and the explanation. Cheers, Mark. Mr Masher38 (talk) 13:11, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Eric Preneur (Ep) (17:55, 6 June 2024)

Can you help me edit my wiki page to a professional one? --Eric Preneur (Ep) (talk) 17:55, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

EP's attempts at autobiography have been reverted (converting an existing article into an article about him) and Speedy deleted (his User page). David notMD (talk) 10:30, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Npm left-pad incident

On 8 June 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Npm left-pad incident, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 2016, the removal of a few lines of code briefly "broke the Internet"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Npm left-pad incident. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Npm left-pad incident), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
