Closed as FUBAR

[edit]

Hi. Did you have an issue with my close? I saw your comment here. Happy to discuss it if you'd like. You've been around a very long time and I know you know that saying someone took a dump at AfD isn't going to be helpful, so hoping we can avoid that here. I'll be on and off line today but will respond as soon as I'm able. Star Mississippi 14:34, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Star Mississippi, I respect the close, but thank you for reaching out. It is entirely editor frustration on my part. If you read the Mrs. Snoozy Turtle thread at ANI you will see that she has been following the ARS to ivote angularly. I felt it was fubar for them to come and crap on another AfD that I posted as an improvement project. For more proof of their angular ivoting see another one I posted at ARS last night Henry Payne. So my fubar reference and taking a dump statement had nothing to do with your close. Lightburst (talk) 21:12, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Beaver drop

[edit]

On 12 March 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Beaver drop, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that 76 beavers parachuted into Central Idaho in 1948? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Beaver drop. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Beaver drop), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something really silly.

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article The Golden Virgin you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Episode 847 (Sesame Street)

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for helping out, as you do often. I just noticed Episode 847 (Sesame Street) has a very amusing PD image we could use. What do you think about placing it in the pic slot in the next available Prep? Just an idea. BorgQueen (talk) 18:54, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@BorgQueen: I saw it, it would be ok with me but I did not check the license. My thinking: I thought the hook was very interesting on its own without the image. Lightburst (talk) 20:30, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's true too, I suppose. BorgQueen (talk) 20:32, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, we can't use the pic as the Muppet next to her is copyrighted. BorgQueen (talk) 08:13, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Émile Aubrun

On 27 April 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Émile Aubrun, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Émile Aubrun flew circles around a golden virgin? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Émile Aubrun. Capa House

[edit]

Hi, I saw you promoted Capa House to prep 7. Just to make you aware, the hook you promoted was rejected by the original reviewer; only ALT2 has been approved. Thanks. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 17:38, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Sojourner in the earth: Thank you for the message. I carefully read the nomination and the first two hooks were called out as not cited in the body - but this edit fixed the issue. All of the hooks were similar and I promoted the hook that I thought was best. Lightburst (talk) 23:33, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The other concern raised was that Raymond Bowman is not known to have been the last man to die; this is just the name of the picture. If you stand by your choice I'd like to discuss this further at T:DYK, as I think it's an important distinction. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 05:44, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sojourner in the earth: I have removed it from the prep. Lightburst (talk) 13:49, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just switched to the ALT2 hook as approved by me, the reviewer. I clearly mentioned I approved ALT2 in my review. Why did you promote another, unreviewed hook? You're not supposed to review and promote at the same time. BorgQueen (talk) 13:44, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Having said that, I reverted my edit since I've realized that I'm too involved to do that. Please don't override the reviewer's approval without any discussion. BorgQueen (talk) 14:05, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BorgQueen: Apologies, I promoted the one I liked. I did not think the others were specifically rejected. It looks like it ran ok. Apologies. Lightburst (talk) 02:57, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for International Aviation Meet at Belmont Park

[edit]

On 16 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article International Aviation Meet at Belmont Park, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/International Aviation Meet at Belmont Park. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, International Aviation Meet at Belmont Park), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. The Golden Virgin GAR

[edit]

@Lightburst I wanted to leave a note on your talk page to acknowledge your decision to withdraw the GA nomination for The Golden Virgin. A bot will close it as "failed" which is, unfortunately, the only way to withdraw without keeping the GAR open indefinitely. Again, my apologies that the process has taken so long, but I do think the article has improved regardless, which is always a good thing. Good luck with all your work and please do feel free to re-nominate the page whenever you're ready in the future. Ppt91talk 00:34, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol invitation

[edit]
Hello, Lightburst.
  • The new pages patrol team is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles and redirects needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • I believe that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi Lightburst. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 00:02, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
