Nashat Akram

[edit]

hi sorry I am not too much experienced in wikipedia and working with it just in free time. I have the question to you if u don't mind. I have translated information from english to russian about Iraqi's football player Nashat Akram (as I understand u r the main author of this site in english) but it is already 2 times my russian version was deleted by other users. Please if u can help me anyway I will be happy. Also it would be nice if we can put any picture of Nashat to this page.

I don't know if it's possible to contact like this,so I hope I don't make anything wrong by saying that u can find me in facebook as Leila Kademi. thanks u in advance. --Daria-82 (talk) 19:45, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Daria, I believe the Russian version was deleted because of the lacking of the Russian sources of the same player. try to tag sources into the article by placing the source (website) between the brackets like this one [ ]. if you have any more question you know where to find me. cheers Mussav (talk) 21:35, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will try. I have strong hope that you can have also permission to put his photo to wiki-storage to use it in all version of Wikipedia. Thanks for quick response. --Daria-82 (talk) 19:41, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent callups section

[edit]

Hi, in the recent callups section of Iraq national football team, could you possibly add a date for when the player's last callup was? The Australia page has a good example of what I mean here. It just lets the reader know that the section is being kept up to date. Thanks! Stu.W UK (talk) 12:10, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I'll try to gather the info. Mussav (talk) 19:10, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. :) Mussav (talk) 01:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please try to read and understand WP:NAME. Then consult an English dictionary. If you can convince people that "Ancient Iraq" is the most common English name for something, you will obviously be entitled to use that term. For your edification, OED has

  • Mesopotamia (as a toponym), "a region in south-west Asia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, now in Iraq".
  • under Iraqi: "Iraq, a republic in the Persian Gulf, formerly (before 23 Aug. 1921) known as Mesopotamia".

OED clearly agrees with my understanding of English vocabulary. Before 23 August 1921: Mesopotamia. After 23 August 1921: Iraq. If you find a quotable source contradicting this, let me know. Whether you happen to "agree" with this terminology is of no interest to Wikipedia. Thank you. --dab (𒁳) 09:34, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, let's leave the naming thing posponed for now, why are you reverting the Iraqi people-catagory thing? just because (as you say) Iraq was formed post-WWI that doesn't mean that they aren't the same people? Mussav (talk) 13:15, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted your edits until you give me a reason why you think that we aren't the same people? Mussav (talk) 13:20, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You've got the burden of proof the wrong way round. Anything you want to add to Wikipedia has to be supported by reliable, verifiable sources. If you want to claim that ancient Mesopotamian kings were "Iraqis", you need to find a source that supports that idea. -- ChrisO (talk) 23:21, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
First of all we all agree that Mesopotamia is just a Greek name, while Iraq is one of the names of the land between the rivers and it was the chosen name for this country when it was formed, So Mesopotamia = Iraq.
Let’s suppose that the country that formed post-WWI is not called Iraq but instead it called Babylonia or Assyria, Would you agree with me that Assyria’s history and Assyria’s famous people will be tagged together with the country that formed Post-WWI (which it’s Assyria)? Then what are you waiting for? Assyria and Babylonian people are still here and they want (mainly Assyrian) to be independent and have their own country… do not prejudice their appearance, give them their all rights. They are Assyrians but they are cursed with the Iraqi nationality.
Let me ask you one question. Suppose in 20XX Assyria got independent from Iraq and they had their own free country, Isn’t In that case they would have the full rights to tag their own free independent country to their own Ancient history? why we are waiting for their independence so we can recognize them and their history? They are still here, under the name of Iraq and they have the right to be tagged to their own history. Mussav (talk) 00:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Sorry to disturb you... but I'd like to know what's your source for this DOB change. Thank you! --necronudist (talk) 09:41, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FIFA official website [1]. Mussav (talk) 13:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Well... FIFA is one of the less reliable sources... any Iraqi source? --necronudist (talk) 13:52, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Really? I thought they gathers this information form the passports. Currently I don't have an Iraqi source but I will let you know as soon as I found one. Mussav (talk) 14:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I know how FIFA works and I can say: no :-) Obviously they can be right sometimes... but it's always better to have a "native" source. --necronudist (talk) 15:48, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well.. I revert it back to the orginal one because I believe that Abu Al-Hail is 32 or something. :) Mussav (talk) 17:07, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Mussav, appreciate your support brother. We might have to bring it case by case to the Mediation Committee, there's only a handful of Iraqis on here but we can't give in to them, don't let them crush our name. Izzedine (talk) 00:45, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your Recent Uploads

[edit]

Hi Mussav, I noticed you have uploaded a series of photos of Iraqi football players (e.g. File:Mohammed Ali Karim.png, File:Bassim Abbas.png‎, File:Fareed Majeed.png‎). You applied the license tag {{GPL-2}} which is really ONLY to be used for images of free software. Images of Iraqi football players are not images of free software! Please add the appropriate license tag to your images (a list of tags can be found here), otherwise these images are subject to Speedy Deletion per criteria WP:CSD#F3. Let me know if you have any questions or are in need of assistance. Regards, FASTILY (TALK) 01:52, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't like to be a bringer of bad news but, observing the source of these images (sourced to the FIFA website) and the fact that the players are still alive, these images are really not permitted on Wikipedia. These images are non-free images and per Wikipedia:Non-free content#Unacceptable use - see Image criteria #12. Wikipedia non-free content policy, Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria#1, states that non-free images may ONLY be used if No free equivalent exists. Unfortunately, these images probably going to be deleted - most likely through WP:FFD. However, there is a slim chance that you can save these images ONLY if the author(s) of the images gives explicit, written permission that the images can be used on Wikipedia emailed/forwarded to "permissions-en@wikimedia.org". Hope that helps - Regards, FASTILY (TALK) 02:44, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright then, I will put the images up for deletion. Well, you could certainly upload the images to flickr, but the possibility that the images will be used on Wikipedia is slim however. The images File:Adriano saopaulo.jpg and File:C Ronaldo.jpg have essentially been released by their authors under the {{cc-by-sa-2.0}} license on flickr, meaning, that the images can then be used on Wikipedia and otherwise really as long as the author is credited. Images, however, such as File:Samer Saeed.png cannot be used on Wikipedia (even if uploaded to flickr) because the copyright owner/author really has not released such images for use in this sort of manner - in addition to noncompliance with the WP:NFCC & WP:NFC criteria. Best, FASTILY (TALK) 05:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:I've got the Premission

[edit]

Hi Mussav, don't worry about it - I'd always be glad to help! If one of the owners/representatives for Iraqsp.net has emailed "permissions-en@wikimedia.org", giving permission for use of the image on Wikipedia with use under the {{GFDL}} license, then you're pretty much good to go! I have added an {{OTRS pending}} template to the file so that a member of the OTRS team can verify the permissions of the image with the email sent by the owners/representatives for Iraqsp.net. Once the permissions have been verified, then a PermissionOTRS template will be added to the file page. You've done a great job! And, if the representative/owner of Iraqsp.net has given permission for other images of this sort to be used on Wikipedia, emailing "permissions-en@wikimedia.org" with the proper permissions, then go ahead and repeat what you did with File:Nashat Akram.jpg. Best, FASTILY (TALK) 20:19, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of PROD from Sardar Ali

[edit]

Hello Mussav, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Sardar Ali has been removed. It was removed by Closedmouth with the following edit summary '(sorry to run you in circles, but prod isn't used for redirects, take it to WP:RFD)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Closedmouth before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Thank you, SDPatrolBot (talk) 15:58, 20 July 2009 (UTC) (Learn how to opt out of these messages)[reply]

Mussav, I appreciate your conciliatory message. This isn't personal at all, and just like I will denounce antagonistic edits no matter who makes them, I will never be above appreciating constructive or conciliatory moves like this one. So thanks, and I am sure we can find an agreeable solution. --dab (𒁳) 18:06, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009 Peace Cup

[edit]

In relation to 2009 Peace Cup, I would like to draw your attention to WP:NOTNEWS, which states:

Routine news coverage of such things as announcements, sports, and tabloid journalism are not sufficient basis for an article.

The article was based solely on such coverage (almost purely in soccer results websites) and has thus been redirected to Peace Cup. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 04:57, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, It's an official annual tournament that is recognized by FIFA (search engine in FIFA official website found 753 results for Peace Cup [2]). The Peace Cup is way better than some other low-qulity friendly tournaments such like the Gulf Club Champions Cup 2008 or the 2009 Toulon Tournament. Peace Cup official website [3] and also you can find Peace Cup's page on goalzz.com [4]. Mussav (talk) 05:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The article is about the 'competition being held in 2009' and if you at least know what is a sports competition, you should know it consists of 'teams, venues, matches and results'. they are not just a bunch of routine news coverage without points as you incessantly repeat. It is correctly ABOUT the SUBJECT, explains and describes subjects well.rokengalan (talk) 06:35, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Rokengalan for your support. Mussav (talk) 06:48, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"teams, venues, matches and results" = "Routine news coverage of such things as … sports" — exactly what WP:NOTNEWS is saying is "not sufficient basis for an article". HrafnTalkStalk(P) 06:53, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(ec)

  1. No, you have presented no evidence that "It's an official annual tournament that is recognized by FIFA". That FIFA lists its results (as it apparently does for other apparently-unofficial 'friendly' matches -- e.g. FYR Macedonia vs Spain on 12/08/2009) does not bestow official FIFA sanction.
  2. "The Peace Cup is way better…" is nothing more than WP:ILIKEIT.
  3. The Peace Cup website is hardly third party, and goalzz.com will apparently publish 'routine sports results' of any minor competition.

It is "routine news coverage" of "announcements" (who's going to play & where) and "sports" (what the score was) lacking any "significant coverage" that would raise it above the level of routine news coverage. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 06:51, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1) The Peace Cup was endorsed and sanctioned by FIFA since 2005 and "it's professionally run in accordance with the game's regulations." (The source, Although it's not a sport site [5], another site [6]) also Kyung Eui Yoo the secretary general of the Peace Cup is a member of FIFA Special Projects hence I believe It's recognized by FIFA [7].
2) No, The Peace Cup is endorsed and sanctioned by FIFA but those tournaments are not, so Yeah The Peace Cup is way better than the others.
3) why do you think that the official websiteis is a third party? "goalzz.com will apparently publish 'routine sports results'"? well it's your personal opinion but anyway how about Goal.com?[8] it's a very famous and well-known website.

I hope it's enough for you so we can stop right here. Mussav (talk) 07:12, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No. "Enough" would be more than "Routine news coverage of such things as … sports" (i.e. "teams, venues, matches and results"). HrafnTalkStalk(P) 07:28, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I gave you a source says that the Peace Cup is recognized by FIFA, so it's no less than any official tournament and it's deserve to be mentioned. I believe you need to take a third-person opinion, a person who has experiences of the Sport-related articles because this article contains more than Routine news coverage. Mussav (talk) 07:33, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, what you gave me is a source saying that one of the participants said that the 2005 tournament was recognised by FIFA in response to questions about whether the tournament was organised by a "cult". In such a situation, I would not be surprised if the level of FIFA recognition was exaggerated. But that does not change the fact that the 2009 article contains nothing beyond "teams, venues, matches and results". HrafnTalkStalk(P) 07:41, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The "teams, venues, matches and results" = Tournament and all the tournaments are based one "teams, venues, matches and results". In your theory we must delete all the Tournaments' articles. my advise is to take a third-person opinion who has more experiences on the Sport-related articles. Mussav (talk) 07:46, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No: "teams, venues, matches and results" = routine coverage of "Tournament". Non-routine coverage is such things as history, controversies, expert predictions, unexpected results, etc, etc. Information that turns it into an encyclopaedia article, NOT a sports result page (after all, we already have goal.com, goalzz.com, RSSF, etc, etc, for the latter). HrafnTalkStalk(P) 07:56, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The history section should be added to the mother's page (eg: Peace Cup). I don’t see a reason of adding the history section onto the page that being held in 2009. Do you think we should add a history section onto the FIFA 2010 World Cup article? And what about the expert predictions and the unexpected results?!! aren't both considered personals opinion? And how many personal opinions do you think we should add to the article? Dozens? It will ruins the page. TBH, based on my experience I think the 2009 Peace Cup article is perfect and I don't see a problem of deleting or merging it. Mussav (talk) 08:12, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. What part of the "expert" in "expert predictions" did you miss? Legitimate expert opinions are always acceptable in wikipedia.
  2. Non-"routine" coverage in FIFA 2010 World Cup:

HrafnTalkStalk(P) 08:23, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Putting it another way, if "teams, venues, matches and results" is not "routine coverage", then what is this "routine coverage" that WP:NOTNEWS states is insufficient? HrafnTalkStalk(P) 08:31, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is no certain rule says that all of these sections must be added to the article. In matter of fact there are dozens of articles that does not have all of these sections. eg: (Gulf Cup of Nations and Arab Nations Cup articles among others), should we delete all of them as well? I honestly don't know what the WP:NOTNEWS rule is trying to say or prove but it's obviously it's not an holy divine rule so it can be discussed and changed. Mussav (talk) 08:39, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. There certainly appears to be a "certain rule" that an article lacking such (non-routine) coverage should not exist.
  2. So the self-described "profissionals" [sic] on "sport related articles" have no idea what an important piece of wikipedia policy, directly relevant to "sport related articles" (in fact I would suspect the only actual policy that addresses sports explicitly), means? That's very reassuring.

HrafnTalkStalk(P) 08:45, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1) The 2009 Peace Cup has all the factors that makes it a good sport-article and sections like history, controversies, expert predictions and unexpected results are not necessary should be added to the article because there is no certain rule says they are must be in.
2) The WP:NOTNEWS does not say that "teams, venues, matches and results" are a "routine news coverage" and Seriously bro these factors ("teams, venues, matches and results") are the main thing to create a good sport-article.
3) Additional info, I was part of changing some of Wikipedia rules (actually they aren't many rules, they were only two rules that I participated in changing them)... the meaning is I know that rules can be changed.

Finally, I don’t see a problem of keeping the 2009 Peace Cup article. Mussav (talk) 09:08, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Your first assertion amounts to nothing more than WP:ILIKEIT.
  2. "Seriously bro", there is nothing more routine than reporting 'team A played team B in a match on date C at venue E, the result was F-G.' This routine is repeated in tabulations in hundreds of thousands of newspapers and websites every day, all around the world. It's regurgitation is the very essence of an "indiscriminate collection of information". You wouldn't know a "good sports article" if it gave you a Glasgow kiss.
  3. Policy is meant to have a reasonable amount of permanency & authority. It can be changed, but it should not simply be ignored. Otherwise Wikipedia simply turns into a sports-results-site/dictionary/IMDB-clone (plot summaries, cast lists., etc)/lyrics-database/repository-of-election-results/list-of-who-won-the-school-talent-show/how-to-handbook/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc/etc.

However, as I've clearly run into a phenomenon analogous to jury nullification, where the rules don't matter except in as they can be twisted to give a fig leaf to the predetermined emotionally-desired result, I see no point in arguing further. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 10:42, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About Neo-Aramaic in Iraq

[edit]

Dear Mr. Mussav,
Before you change any names, try to do some research. Neo-Aramaic (or Syriac for the written form) is the correct naming in this article. If your intentions are to improve the article, then you should choose one of these two names. Otherwise, if your intentions are to vandalize, then you should know there are consequences for that. Hello dear Mussav. I am searching for the correct and official date of birth of this Iraqi player. He is very famous because he won the Asian Cup 2007. All the official sources declare he was born on 12 march 1984, but the article declares his date of birth is 12 april 1984. In my opinion the correct date is 12 march 1984. Hi Mussav. I've reverted your edits to the squad information for the Real Madrid season page because the format you implemented is inconsistent with other season articles also using that specific template set. A main purpose of using templates is to achieve uniformity across Wikipedia. Neither your revision nor the reverted version is "better" per say--they're both arbitrary in regards to stylistic taste--but the reverted version is just simply widely used, which is an established silent project consensus. See Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Fb_si_header for a list of articles. Thanks. Bobby (talk) 06:19, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Yassir Abdul-Mohsen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:35, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
