Kinnelon as one of New Jersey's wealthiest

[edit]

This edit adds details regarding Kinnelon as the 17th wealthiest community in the state, though Kinnelon is not listed in the reference provided and Tenafly is repeatedly mentioned. Am I missing something here? Alansohn (talk) 18:39, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Morristown, New Jersey into Morris County, New Jersey. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 13:18, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable and verifiable sources are needed

[edit]

These edits again use a website for a real estate agent as a reference to describe a neighborhood in Kinnelon, New Jersey as upscale. You need an independent reliable and verifiable source for such claims. This is why the description and the source were removed. Please feel free to respond with any questions. Alansohn (talk) 05:11, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the content you added was copied from the NY Times, and thus was a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. Please don't add copyright material to Wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 23:34, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Morris Township

[edit]

This edit again removed sourced content from the article for Morris Township, New Jersey. Your edit summary offers no explanation for the edit. What is wrong with the material that leads you to removeit? Alansohn (talk) 12:50, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Affluence vs. Income

[edit]

This edit adds a pile of links added as sources to back up a description of Mount Lakes as "affluent". The tearms "wealth" and "affluence" are all about how much money you have, while the sources are about how much the people earn. That's why the term "highest-income" is used, as it is backed by the sources, and the details provided by the sources are used to explain and support the claim. Information icon Hello, I'm Alansohn. I noticed that you recently removed content from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please try to understand how Wikipedia works and try to understand how to discuss these issues rather than engage in an edit war and delete sourced content that you don't like. Alansohn (talk) 00:01, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. Please don't copy material you find elsewhere online

[edit]

Hello. I am Diannaa and I am a Wikipedia administrator. Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the copyright policy of this website to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. The Wikipedia copyright policy and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. There's a simplified version of our copyright rules at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Further copyright issues will result in you being blocked from editing. — Diannaa (talk) 12:50, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am aware of my wrong doing and seek to correct myself from doing more so in the future. With that said I intend to think before I edit moving forward. Moreover, I intend on organizing a lot of information that others have posted simply to make things more balanced and clear. I understand why I have been blocked and will attempt to do my best not to face being blocked again because I genuinely enjoy adding more information for others to read and see with a cited source on Wikipedia. With my saying all this I was blocked due to m deletion of information on Mendham Borough, NJ's wiki page. I understand that the information I deleted from the page should not have been and with that said I will not remove such information again as I understand why I was blocked from my having deleted information that was properly cited and factual. Moving forward I will be wiser with what info I choose to touch and edit at my own accord. I am aware of what I did wrong and seek to do everything I can to not do so again. With this all in mind I was officially blocked for simply removing information that although cited and sourced I simply did not think it was necessary to be included as something at the top of the page. Now mind you I have done or uploaded information in the past that was cited and removed due to where the content came from in addition to being directly copied word-for-word. With this said I did not find it terribly necessary that I be blocked under the circumstances based on the content I deleted from the Mendham Borough, NJ wiki page. The information I was deleting from the page was information added to something I previously uploaded to the page therefore perhaps I took it upon myself to remove the information that was added after my own work. If the user who uploaded that information chose to include that information elsewhere on the page...perhaps in the demographic information...I would not have bothered to remove the information. Moreover, I personally don't find my reasoning for being blocked terribly justified and having been blocked for brief amounts of time in the past often having to do with copyright policy therefore at this point I understand what information I can and cannot upload to a wiki page. Based on my response here I do hope my block can be removed and I can get back to editing and contributing information to Wikipedia as it is something I do enjoy and take pleasure in.

Going off of all this, I am aware that I have been unresponsive to other users comments among other things regarding my work. I have not entertained many conversations on here due to the fact that in many cases I did not think it was necessary being that some things I have included or put on various pages I did not think needed much more than a properly cited source as long as it is a legitimate source. I am aware of copyright permission while using Wikipedia an example of myself not using the copyright correctly was/is my past comments on Morris Township, NJ's wiki page. I understand moving forward I must be far more mind regarding being responsive towards others and being responsible with the editing and citing regarding the things that I put effort into on Wikipedia. I have assessed the site's policies further and understand what I must do as a responsible and mindful editor moving forward and when I am unblocked in the near future. I will ensure that I will conduct my behavior in this site in a much better position. I understand that I have done wrong and violated a number things however, I do hope to be considered as someone who really does not want to end up in block session again therefore I will strive to be extremely mindful of things that both I or someone else adds to Wiki pages. This was not something I ever expected to happen and knowing this is a consequence makes me feel I must be much more on top of how I execute any of my actions. Please consider me an appropriate candidate for being unblocked in the near future. Thank you.NABFNJ (talk) 01:41, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The block is for being unresponsive to other users(such as to the comments on this page), not explaining your edits, and edit warring. Please address these specific points as to how you will improve in the future, and how you will handle editing disputes in the future. 331dot (talk) 07:49, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also see several warnings for copyright violations. You will need to explain your understanding of the copyright policy before we can unblock you. MER-C 12:28, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
