[edit]

Thank you, I'll make the changes. This is my first page on Wikipedia, so I want to make sure everything is legit. Thanks again for your help, Njwolf —Preceding comment was added at 04:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE Contested Deletion

[edit]

Triple J is available all over Australia, thus qualifying as a "national network". If you do decide to remove it though, could I please get a copy of my work for such a time as it becomes "notable"?. Thank you, Njwolf

Contested Deletion

[edit]

I'd like to contest the deletion of my article on the band "Boyz4Grlz". According to point twelve of the criteria for a band to be notable, a band is notable if it, "Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network.". "Boyz4Grlz" featured on a late night program on Melbourne's Triple J radio station, thus satisfying the criteria. Thank you, Njwolf —Preceding comment was added at 04:30, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nawlin,

How come you have deleted my page!!

can you please allow it to pass on the website it is an extremely important issue.

thanks

Unreasonable..

[edit]

I think it is unreasonable you deleted my article about the game simcountry because i was going to expand on it and it was already pretty good. Could you give me a specific reason why it was deleted that i can fix and then it can be back up as an article on wikipedia? Incredibale3 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Incredibale3 (talkcontribs) 18:35, 11 July 2008 (UTC) Hmm.. Well do you like have a backup of what i typed so i can fix it and then we can see if it's good enough? Or is my typing work gone? Don't really care, i type super fast, just want to know :P. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Incredibale3 (talkcontribs) 18:46, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to create the Omelet article and you have delete it 2 times. I have been looking to similar articles from the nature (other advertising companies) and I see that they show less information that the one I have provided. Can I leave my article as an stub and you won't erase it? (Claracano (talk) 23:57, 9 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

[edit]

Mr Delete Happy, Why did you delete our page DTETA. This is a very real and usefull analisys methord. If you had bothered to contact me i could have provided you with evidance of use within my office, my field of work and most of the UK. Does it make you feel mightly power to delete other peoples work without a second thought. It is people like yourself that make wikipedia a limited knowledgebase.

You should think before you act.

From the rest of the comments on this page i can see that this wasn't an isolated situation. Blondechaser —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blondechaser (talkcontribs) 08:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I created this acrticle because there isn't one why would I create something that doesn't exist? Your a little bit out of line I would like a message back quick this is nerve racking and just plain rude. I belive that you don't belive Canada is actually up here cause your too americanized and think hockey is a total American sport. Tri North Lighting, Inc.

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Sam and I work with a local newspaper in the Western New York, we were working on a story about Tri North Lighting, Inc. and were adding content to Wikipedia about this company. They are getting ready to go public and will have shares exchanged on the New York Stock Exchange. They are a company that started in a small home and in 4 years have turned into a very large company and their sales will exceed $20 million dollars this year. They are actually larger than most other lighting companies who distribute and brand their own product lines.

This is a very historical event for this corporation considering the current state of the economy. I have an interview with Tri North Lighting, Inc. this week and there will be a lot more information added to the company and his personal profile as well. I do ask that you reconsider your decision not to have this company listed in Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by D453g (talkcontribs) 16:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tri North Lighting, Inc.

[edit]

There are relaible sources.

If you go to the New York State Department of of State, you will find they are registered in New York by a Name Search

http://appsext8.dos.state.ny.us/corp_public/corpsearch.entity_search_entry

If you search the State of Delaware division of corporations, you will find details about the company as well.

https://sos-res.state.de.us/tin/GINameSearch.jsp

Also, if you search google for Press releases, there are results for "press releases tri north lighting"

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=press+releases+tri+north+lighting

Additionaly, my interview will be picked up in Local News and will go through other various news outlets as well.

Yes, I have read that page

[edit]

This company is very notable in the Western New York area. Have you actually taken some time to review their website? Look at the wealth of information they have on their website about fiber optic commercial lighting. You will not find another site like it. They do projects all over the world and I guarantee that they have larger lighting installations within 200 miles of where you are located. —Preceding unsigned comment added by D453g (talkcontribs) 19:00, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LEVI JOHN WILLIAMS

[edit]

You deleted my page about my friend Levi Williams saying it was a rude personal attack. He was with me WHEN i wrote it & it said he was very nice & gives people free lemonade, which is true. If you think that's rude then you're ridiculous.

I was working on refrences

[edit]

If you looked at the editing of the corporate page, I was making changes every day and adding content and sourcing more information. I spent over 8 hours researching this company so far and over 3 hours writing and adding content to wiki on this company. There would be more than sufficient content and references if I was able to complete the page.

There are local articles as well on this company that I was also researching in the public library that you would not find online as well. Some date back to 2004 and there are references to certain patents the company made which I need sourcing information on still. I was using wiki for my own references and to also share information with people who are interested in this company and the subject of fiber optic lighting which intrigues me.

Please bear in mind, I do have a full time job for the Buffalo news and do have other articles to write. Today is actually my day off and I have more items I would have liked to add but unfortunately I could not. I am sorry if I come across as being a little upset, but I have been dedicating a lot of hours towards this subject and people in the Western New York area are very interested in this newer company that is opening a corporate headquarters here. I would like to keep contributing to Wikipedia as I do my own stories and research, but I guess it is just difficult. —Preceding unsigned comment added by D453g (talkcontribs) 20:58, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What would you like to see specifically?

I was going to add more information here, so I more than likely have exactly what you would like to see. —Preceding unsigned comment added by D453g (talkcontribs) 21:17, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will be off for the weekend of the 4th, so I might not be able to finish things until sometime next week. Quizzer of Oz

[edit]

You speedily deleted this page citing lack of notability. As the biggest provider of this service in Australia (possibly the southern hemisphere), as a former Guinness World Record holder and organiser of one of the biggest quiz nights ever held, I think this business certainly meets the notability standard for Wikipedia. I can add media references and more detail if the page is restored. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Quizzerofoz (talkcontribs) 12:45, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking Barack Obama?

[edit]

I don't know what you're talking about. I restored a revert by Scjessey. The material he deleted was supported by Talk page consensus. Consensus doesn't have to be unanimous. There were only two editors out of about a dozen (Shem and Tvoz) still showing an aversion to the use of the word "criticism." But your comment on My Talk page accused me of blanking the page. That's ridiculous. WorkerBee74 (talk) 17:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged this article as spam because it was created as such—see the userpage of the guy who created it. When I was brand new on WP (not long ago) I got another editor to remove the more blatant bits, which where transfered to the talk page. Crocodile oil exists as a supposed medicine solely in a single product (laughably called Repcillin) which the creator of this article imports from South Africa to the US. Spam for this product is repeated wherever chronic, non-curable skin complaints are discussed on the web (eg also on Psoriasis support groups on Facebook). Published articles about the origins of this product are quoted on the talk page. The analysis from the South African standards authority quoted in the material what was transferred from the main page to the talk page has not been published: it could quite easily have been made up or copied from another product's analysis. I still think this is spam; certainly if you were take away all the information provided by the spammer, you would be left with no article at all. Please reconsider your decision. Daniel Morton

[edit]

Hi, I was working on the Daniel Morton page and wasn't finished yet. I had saved it to change pages to learn how to add a publicity photo image box. Then I came right back and it was deleted. He is an actor that is starring in a new Speilberg movie "The Trial of the Chicago 7" with Will Smith coming out next summer along with multiple previous credits. Here is a his IMDB page[1]. He is also a cousin of Reese Witherspoon. How is none of that worthy of Wiki? The crazy thing is that I hadn't saved it more then 4 minutes before you deleted it.

So, the starring role in "The Trial of the Chicago 7" isn't notable enough? He plays one of the Chicago 7 and it is far from a minor role.

Wow....okay. I could point out many people on here that are truly no one but for some reason you got issues with this guy without even giving the chance for me to finish the page. Oh and FYI, IMDB is not user editable. They don't post anything without first verifying it. That is why it is considered the most legit form of credits for the film/television business. If anyone could just add stuff then starving actors would pad their resumes on there all day long. The film is is on hold as is everything in Hollywood pending the outcome of the SAG contract. If the thing gets signed (which it will) then everything is back to normal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Icywings11 (talkcontribs) 12:34, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Respected Sir, In order to satisfy your concern of notability, I assure you of Danish's status in the field of Undergraduate Mathematics. He is well known in India and abroad for his mathematical talent. He has recently been invited by a Mathematical Trust in Turkey to discuss with their students about his reseach in the field of Commercial Mathematics. (In December 2006, Danish had made a presentation of his research at International Young Mathematicians Convention in front of delegates of various nations. His presentation was widely accepted and hence he has been asked to display it again in Turkey.) Besides, he is the youngest Indian to secure a Gold Medal at an International Olympiad to add to his credit. Lastly, I donot have indepth knowledge of deletition criterias on Wikipedia but as far as I know Danish's case satisfies the acedemic requirements. I have read that a Mathematician may be included on Wikipedia if he is held in high esteem by his peers. Sir, we await a favourable response from your side. Hi, NawlinWiki. Why did you move-protect Chris Hansen? I can't find any ongoing problems with moving the article. Powers T 13:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, no, no reason for a move. There's always the potential for a need for disambiguation, or a name change or something like that, but of course that's vanishingly unlikely. I was just curious because it seems unusual to protect a page preemptively, and "there's no need to move it" is something that could apply to 90% of our pages. You are joking, right?

Take a look at our website, which is what you do to check for copyright violation.

No matter what I do, or how I word my article, someone deletes it. What chance does that give me?

I note that Wildhorn's Dracula production article remains on this site. Why have you chosen to delete our article time and time again?

When I did include an independent press source for our production being recognised, some editor tapped in some lines of it into Google and... yep! The quote, from the noted London theatre critic, is on our site. So, our article disappears because the quote is elsewhere on the internet... Our own site! Admit it. You are biased against our work. Otherwise we'd be on here as a bona fide article.

Deletion Of Here The Dead (band) page

[edit]

Hey Nawlin. Here The Dead is brisbane band, comprised of previous members of other well known bands. Steve Moore was the drummen of the group:- dungeon --> search dungeon (band) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_%28band%29 addictive --> search addictive (band) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addictive_%28band%29 I (Lex Dourian) was an original/former member of psi.kore (band) mentioned in links below:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_heavy_metal http://www.geocities.com/goreripper/p/psikore.htm http://www.vampire-magazine.com/showband.php?bid=6917 http://www.amo.org.au/artist.asp?id=657

Both of these former bands have played the MFTB bill; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_for_the_Brain

Was hoping we could have the page up and running & cross link a few member names, thats all. We do not have any reviews as yet, so external verification is slim at best. We have started a myspace page; http://www.myspace.com/herethedead & are in the midst of assembling a band domain. No live shows as yet and hence no live reviews.

Hopeful you will reconsider Nawlin, as there is no malice intended by this page, only the intent of letting people know where the musicians from these acts (dungeon/addictive & psi.kore) are at, in the present day.

Best Regards, Lex Dourian.

I just inserted some info he had written for his website and was planning on going in when I had time to add more details about his bio.

Please reactivate the page and let me know. I will update it soon after.

I may not be using this email system correctly...I saw your reply and there may be a way for me to respond without starting another talk page...so, sorry if I should be doing it differently.

Like I stated, Luke wrote the information about himself and I added it to Wikepedia. I just copied his original writing into this website. So, I did not author it...he did.

I don't doubt that there can be some discussion about whether those two article names should be reconfigured but one should not be redirected to the other as they are about different things. --bodnotbod (talk) 19:45, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

well i can put whatever i want on my talk page! its not up to you on how i can use my talk page! im trying to show Wikipedia that i can contribute good things to articles! but if you continue on going to my page and deleting the Selena Gomez article, Wikipedia will never see me as a good contributor! i have worked too hard to get their respect! i dont need you getting rid of an opportunity to get respect from Wikipedia! besides, I am a living person, so doesnt it make sense that I should be in that category? Move protection problem

I've started a section on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Move protection doesn't work? where I mention you because, probably by coincidence, all pages involved were move protected by you (despite some of them already being infinite move protected before). I asked for opinions of a couple of project pages (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam and Category talk:Pseudoscience) and got no help there, so I decided to start the AfD process. This is my first time doing this. I added the template, but when I tried to follow the link to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crocodile oil I found the archived discussion of it being deleted before (for the same reasons I have). I don't know what to do next! Help, please! Thank you, yours almost-instinct 12:12, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I had been trying to follow those instructions, so I just deleted my first attempt and started over. I believe I've done everything I need to. I don't know why he picked us (probably randomly, maybe not?), but I left a note at Astur's talk page giving him advice to follow. semiprotection for JS Bach page

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you've done something there, but it still seems to have the protection thing. Can I put in a plea that protection not be removed? Life has been so much easier since what we presume are teenage schoolboys all over the world doing music assignments on this premier composer have stopped bombarding the article with puerile sexual vandalism. It was happening on a daily basis at its worst, and if protectioin is removed, it will resume, I can assure you. TONY (talk) 17:03, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposition 6

[edit]

Hi Nawlin, What is the difference between George Runner's page, which is very much a self-promotion and the page that I attempted to put up about his Proposition 6, which was a factual summary of what his initiative does, albeit from a vantagepoint of those who oppose it? Why would a link to the proponent of Proposition 6 be allowed to stay on the George Runner page, but you took down the link I added to the opponent page? Getting the hang of this site...

[edit]

Hi Nawlin, What is the difference between Senator George Runner's page, which is very much a self-promotion and the page that I attempted to put up about his Proposition 6, which was a factual summary of what his initiative does, albeit from a vantagepoint of those who oppose it? Why would a link to the proponent of Proposition 6 (www.safeneighborhoodsact.org) be allowed to stay on the George Runner page, but you took down the link I added to the opponent page (www.defeatrunner.org)?

Also, few would argue that Runner has been consistently opposed to funding public education. Why would you take this down, but leave up the fact that he supports business opportunity. Jonah —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjz5 (talkcontribs) 03:02, 12 July 2008 (UTC) Bold text[reply]

Thank you Nawlin for your help. I'll try another shot at a Proposition 6 page. If it stays up then I'll add it to Safe Neighborhoods Act and Runner Initiative as well. I'll also see what I can do about referenced sources for Runner. For references, internal ones to Wikipedia count right? I'll try another shot at Prop 6 and I'll look around at other sites to help me.

Different IP's, same user in my opinion. I would bet money this is an established user doing this, must be someone less that fond of NawlinWiki for whatever reason. My guess is this user is using a software that allows you to choose your IP, and that allows you to change your IP in a matter of seconds, even let you pick the country, lots of these programs are out there. A lot of the times the company own the IP's and they will not show up as a proxy server, but a lot of the times they do. Landon1980 (talk) 06:14, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

didn't really want to link them here, (I skipped doing that when I posted the RPP request, but here are some [7] actually there are more, but I am not apt to link them because of content, not censored and all, but still. 3 hours should be ok, they are getting 404'd fast. Dureo (talk) 06:34, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I extended it out for six hours, just to err on the side of caution. I checked out the 4chan link, and it looks like the work of one bitter fool and a bunch of forum kids who'll blindly click on almost any link. caknuck ° is back from his wikisiesta 06:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should do a Wikipedia:RCU? King Rock (Gears of War) 06:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, Dureo's link pretty clearly establishes that the vandalism is coming from multiple sources directed here by one 4chan poster. caknuck ° is back from his wikisiesta 07:25, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move protection of wood

[edit]

Why did you fully move protect the wood? None of the recent vandalism indicates any threat to move the page. -- SCZenz (talk) 09:51, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Large-scale move protection

[edit]

I ran across another page you had protected, so I went and looked at your page protection log. You have protected a very large number of pages with the explanation "no reason to move this page w/o discussion," and in several cases I have looked at there was no recent page-move vandalism or threat thereof. This kind of preemptive protection is not among the reasons listed in Wikipedia:Protection policy#Move protection. Can you please explain what you're doing and why? -- SCZenz (talk) 11:23, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. We do not pre-emtively (move)protect articles. Can you please undo the protections? EdokterTalk 11:52, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • With respect, no, I'm not going to undo them all. As I said to SCZenz, if you think any of these pages is a plausible candidate to actually be moved for a legitimate reason, let me know and I'll be glad to unprotect. NawlinWiki (talk) 11:54, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's not for you, or for me, to judge which pages have a "legitimate" reason to be moved. We cannot pre-preemptively protect the thousands of pages required to do what you propose. The community would have to discuss and approve it, because such general, permanent move protection amounts to a de facto change in policy. Can you point me to any such community-wide discussion, or a policy that justifies your actions? -- SCZenz (talk) 12:29, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I spot-checked some too, and got that several had not been moved recently. -- SCZenz (talk) 12:50, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In light of your reply on my talk page, I would like to see the protection removed from all pages that were protected for no specific reason beyond being possible targets under this page-move vandal's usual pattern. This is in accordance with our obligation as administrators to use our tools only in line with policies laid out by the community; we are not empowered to use them to develop policies of our own. I am more than happy to help you unprotect the pages if you do not object; if you do object, I will bring this up for discussion at the Administrators' noticeboard shortly. -- SCZenz (talk) 12:50, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More concretely, but entirely separately, I think the reason that the community hasn't approved this kind of large-scale move protection is that the strategy is doomed to failure: the vandal in question will simply find the one page you haven't protected yet, or change his modus operandi slightly, until you've been forced to protect almost everything. -- SCZenz (talk) 12:50, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Very well. I hope you'll take the step of starting a discussion on protection policy changes if you think they're necessary. -- SCZenz (talk) 14:33, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have begun un-protecting pages that, according to the history, have not been moved in at least several months. All are on my watch list. -- SCZenz (talk) 14:46, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted pages?

[edit]

Seeing as how you're a deletion user; I was hoping you could tell me where I can turn to to find cached or mirrored pages that have been deleted. I understand the "keep Wikipedia clean" philosophy but that doesn't eliminate the fact that some people find things relevant despite majority counter. I need to track down copies of articles (most deleted in Feb 2008-May 2008) that have been deleted because they're relevant to my research. Lostinlodos (talk) 16:34, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alex Burnett

[edit]

I redid Alex Burnett. I like to think I made him more "Significant" this time.

I intend to do a page for just about the entire Fort Myers Miracle roster. I certainly hope I don't wake up very many mornings to find the work I did the previous night all gone. If you are interested in deleting pages, I'd be more than happy to provide you a list of former Miracles who are no longer in baseball, and never had an impact in the major leagues.
