Welcome from Redwolf24[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes ([[User:Redwolf24|Redwolf24]] 23:54, 10 July 2005 (UTC)) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes ([[User:Redwolf24|Redwolf24]]) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

P.S. I like messages :-P

Estonia[edit]

While clicking view random article, I saw a stub called Click OK. They are an Estonian band. Since you're the only Estonian person I know I was thinking you could give it attention and an image. Of course this may be as stupid as saying Hey, I'm American... I should go edit N Sync, I mean they are american after all..... Redwolf24 02:24, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's something similar, yes. :) I don't know much about them, but I could extend the stub based on Estonian media coverage; I'll try.
And I replied to you, in your message archive. PeepP 12:00, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Well, it seems there isn't much information about them on the web, or at least it's hard to find, considering the generality of the phrase "click ok", so I'm leaving it be for now. PeepP 13:36, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

By the way PeepP...[edit]

I'm up here: RfA#Redwolf24. :D Redwolf24 00:43, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That was fast. Congrats! Oh, and I wrote. :) PeepP 00:55, July 17, 2005 (UTC)

DYK[edit]

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Optimus keyboard, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently-created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Vanemuine[edit]

I suppose Vanemuine is the Estonian name of the hero known in Finnish as Väinemöinen? -- And by the way, thanks for your info on my talk page. -- Tonymec 02:20, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't heard the name Väinemöinen before. Vanemuine is a zither player. PeepP 12:36, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
Väinemöinen (Edit: oops, Väinämöinen) is the main character of the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, where he is usually mentioned as "the old and wise Väinemöinen". He is the inventor of the kantele.
(I don't understand Finnish myself, but I have an Esperanto translation of the Kalevala.) -- Tonymec 16:38, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if he invented the kantele, then Vanemuine is most probably the Estonian version of him, since when I referred to the zither, I meant the kantele (kannel in Estonian). I don't get why they're in two separate articles though.
I think they're in different articles because the word zither refers to the Greek κιθαρα (kithara) and similar instruments worldwide, while the kantele is more specifically its Baltic version. I don't know if it would be advisable to merge the articles. -- Tonymec 17:09, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Now if I recall correctly, Vanemuine is a character from the Estonian epic Kalevipoeg (though the article seems to not mention him), but I'm not sure (notice a pattern here? ;)) if Kreutzwald came up with him himself, basing it on Väinemöinen, or if he got the character from the stories he collected from people. PeepP 16:48, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

Editing user pages[edit]

You probably know that user pages are for user her/himself, so it will be nice to respect it (and not add categories as you please). There is talk page if you have comments or ideas to the user. --TarmoK 09:33, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

CfD[edit]

Hi, you recently added the following to the speedy section of WP:CFD: The categories listed in Wikipedia:User_categorisation#Categories_to_rename. I just wanted to let you know that a category change from "Wikipedians of Foo" to "Wikipedians in Foo" does not qualify as a speedy rename. Please add these categories to the main section of WP:CFD for proper discussion. Thanks. --Kbdank71 15:20, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Estonia-bio-stub[edit]

Hi - We at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting note that you have recently created a new stub template, {{estonia-bio-stub}}. Stub categories should normally be cleared by Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting before creation, as it says on almost every stub-related page and category on Wikipedia. That way they can be vetted to check that there are a viable number of stubs (at least 60-100) and that the category does not cross the existing stub hierarchy before the stub is created.

If you can provide any information on the stub, please add a note to entry for the stub at WP:WSS/D giving the reason for it. In addition, if there is any Wikiproject associated with the stub add that information.

If you're interested in helping sort stubs, BTW, we're always looking for new members of the project! Grutness...wha? 12:27, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on WP:WSS/D#.7B.7BEstonia-bio-stub.7D.7D.
As for stub sorting, then I've been doing a bit of that outside the project, using Category:Stubs. PeepP 12:40, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

ru-0?[edit]

Why "ru-0"? Do the Russians hound you, or what? --VKokielov 15:58, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you mean. I just don't speak Russian and don't like it. PeepP 16:18, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

I'm Colombian, but...[edit]

I'm Colombian, but I emigrated to the US 5 years ago. Caleiva 22:48, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I presume you mean the "Wikipedians in Colombia" category I added to your user page. I only did it because you were listed on Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Colombia, and you can always change the category if you don't want to be associated with it. Anyway, the project won't add categories to the user pages any more, only let users know that a category is available (see Wikipedia:User categorisation). PeepP 05:48, August 28, 2005 (UTC)

Translation done[edit]

Last week, you had requested an English translation of the German de:Pushback article Wikipedia:German-English_translation_requests#de:Pushback, which is now done, at Pushback. You might want to take a look and proof it. Thanks. JanesDaddy 06:55, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Estonian Air.JPG[edit]

Tere!

I just wanted to say thank you for uploading my picture to the Commons. At some point I will get round to doing them myself - just too lazy to create a profile there right now, hahaha. Anyway, have a nice weekend.

Tervitusi Londonast, Jared Preston 10:09, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded it there so I could use it in the Estonian wiki article et:Tallinna lennujaam (tallinn airport). And I know what you mean about creating an user, I was stuck there myself for a period of time. :) A nice weekend to you too. PeepP 10:12, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's a really bad photo but I had taken two disposable cameras and one exposure was left on the second one. So, I thought to myself - what can I take a photo of? I will upload all my pictures of the sights in Tallinn at some point, but knew there was no picture in the Estonian Air article so was even thinking of Wikipedia when I took it. Keep up the good work! Jared Preston 08:53, 26 March 2006 (UTC). PS: It would be nice if there was an et:Estonian Air article too - and since your Estonian is much better than mine - I will leave it in your capable hands to write a stub! :-)[reply]

Whiskey, aviation & NATO[edit]

Hi PeepP- The word whisky represented the letter W in international aviation long before there was a NATO. Apparently NATO simply adopted the earlier convention. Best regards.David Justin 22:50, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I said also, that I have en-2, so I can make mistakes. ;) I just want to know how would you say that? ;) Hołek ҉ 15:26, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just like to write answers on poster's talk page, 'cause then I know that he WILL read it (because of You have new messages link; I do not believe the wachlist mechanism ;) and, of course, it is my [and most of Polish Wikipedians] custom). Feel free to edit my page if you will find any other spelling or grammar mistakes (I don't think that you will found any, because of shortness of my page ;)). Click OK[edit]

Hi. I created originally the Click OK -article and I've tried to improve it as far as I can. The problem is that the amount of information about them on Internet is very limited. Even the pieces I can find are usually written in Estonian, which I understand very poorly. I was hoping that maybe you could translate (or rewrite) the article for Estonian language Wikipedia. Then it might get attention of some Estonian fans who might then improve the article. In the long run the improvements might also migrate to the English version of the article. --Easyas12c 14:14, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I have written a quick and dirty translation of the article at et:Click OK. HTH, PeepP 14:28, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Estonian phonetics[edit]

Hi! 1.I see you've changed a bit my transcriptions, adding a dot . to [arnold ryytel] and [lennart meri]. What does this diacritic stand for? 2. Could you help me solving this õ matter and finding appropriate symbol for our vowel? ɤ is entirely misguiding.--Constanz - Talk 07:28, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My Name[edit]

Hi PeepP! Can you translate my name in Estonian and Esperanto, on my userpage please Abdullah Geelah 20:39, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Learning an Eastern language is quite difficult, now Arabic is quite hard to master. if you want to really know Arabic, you need to go toa strict 2-month Arabic course apparently in an Arab country becuase that what most people do. Abdullah Geelah 16:43, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
