License tagging for File:Roy Clarke.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Roy Clarke.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Last of the Summer Wine recording

[edit]

Hello, I've started work on the Last of the Summer Wine recording as you requested. So I removed your banner and replaced it with an in progress on for myself. Genjix (talk) 07:07, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, hope going through the "front page" thing wasn't too traumatic (sorry I wasn't really able to help out with the reverts, I didn't expect to be away from a PC all day on Sunday!). I'll be interesting to see what the page view total is when it updates. If you think about it, though, an average of 5 million people look at the main page every day, which is quite daunting! Anyway, it was great to see it up there for its last day, well done, hope you might reconsider the resignation thing. Bob talk 22:55, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

August 2010 (over-zealous Last of the Summer Wine edits)

[edit]

While your comment about original research and unsourced adds is maybe fair game as far as the DVD adds I contributed (though I must point out that many of the VHS I cited have been out of print for 20+ years so are hard to source citations!), your careless reversion of edits also removed many other valid adds, tweaks and corrections to the page; very over-zealous. I am an experienced, very active Wikipedia user of 8+ years, including contributing much of the "characters..." page, and fully understand the "rules" of Wiki, so do take slight offence to offhandedly being warned about being "banned" for uncited contributions. Apologies, I didn't realise that you owned Wikipedia. Jay Firestorm (talk) 23:41, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The thing you have to realise is that Redfarmer has had to put up with a whole day of uncited observational/personal recollection-type edits to the article via it being on the main page and in the news. And, although one doesn't "own" an article, if one has almost single handedly got an article to FA standard, it is quite annoying for somebody to come along and add lots of uncited material. So, probably cut him some slack. After all, if you've been doing this for "eight years" (Wikipedia was only founded in 2003, and your first edit is from 2006), then you probably know that featured articles have to be verifiable - lots of "citation needed" templates are likely to lose an article that status. Fair use rationale for File:Everwood-Cast.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Everwood-Cast.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:52, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Redfarmer.

I'd placed the "inuse" template on the Martha Lipton article so I could work on it. I'm about to save my changes but this will go over your additions. I've added enough references to get the article through Afd - are you OK with me saving my work over yours? Dylanfromthenorth (talk) 11:40, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great :-) I pretty much added the same info as you anyway but didn't want to edit conflict. I left the rescue tag on as I'm sure there are editors better equipped to deal with opera singers than me, but hopefully the playbill and allmusic refs are enough to be going on with for now. She's clearly notable enough. I've finished with it for now, I'll comment in the afd discussion, but feel free to add more info yourself. Dylanfromthenorth (talk) 11:52, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bandy versus AfD

Heya, Redfarmer,
You wrote:

Hi, you nominated a lot of national bandy teams for deletion today, but it does appear as if the vast majority (if not all) of them meet notability requirements, and I have even begun to add references. I was wondering if you'd like to reconsider your nominations in light of the fact I have found sources

My answer: please rescue those articles. I will prolly be attending to other tasks, but will help out in this context as best I can.--Shirt58 (talk) 14:24, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Your submission of Azeline Hearne at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know!

I didn't know you from before, but nice to see (from your Userpage) that you apparently changed your mind and are back. Good luck--it's an important and interesting Civil Rights article. --La comadreja formerly AFriedman RESEARCH (talk) 00:22, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am glad you are back on Wikipedia!

[edit]

Redfarmer, I wanted to say how glad I am to see you back editing here. I know how hard it has been for you to deal with some of the twits - but am very happy you have decided to return. I hope things are better for you this time around.

You have been extremely kind in assisting me when you have been able to in my own battles against vandals and those who want Wikipedia to be a fansite rather than an encyclopaedic resource. And I wanted to thank you once again for sharing your knowledge and experience with me and others as we learn how to edit properly - as well as kind patience with mistakes. I have learned much from you by watching how you do things (don't worry, I'm not being a Wiki-stalker! <smirk>). I hope you once again enjoy editing. All the best! Speedy deletion of Template:Movietome

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Movietome requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Replaceable fair use File:Roy Clarke.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Roy Clarke.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bradley0110 (talk) 10:51, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Chester Lake.jpg

October 2012

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! I'm well aware of WP:DTTR - however, perhaps you've forgotten to remember this? espeicially when reverting someone. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 04:25, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen good articles with spelling errors; should we make spelling errors in all good articles? of course not. Linking two out of a supposed five seasons - is absolutely redundant. For example: let's say I appeared in seasons 1-8 - where are the links for the middle seasons (2-7)? -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 04:29, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So your argument is "I don't like it" therefore we shouldn't? No, start a thread on one of the talk pages, or on the infobox for clarification. You don't go make mass edits because you don't like it, especially when the documentation isn't clear. Redfarmer (talk) 04:32, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
