Notice of No Original Research Noticeboard discussion
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:No original research/Noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is section header of discussion.The discussion is about the topic topic. Thank you. 113.172.88.157 (talk) 10:26, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- I have temporarily blocked The basis of for disrupting WP:NORN with rambling forum-style discussions. They seem to disagree with you about something concerning your edits at Western world. Do you have any idea what that's about? Take a look at their talkpage. I have advised them on the appropriate way to discuss or challenge edits, but I don't think they're listening. Acroterion (talk) 13:27, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
- Considering classical architecture and history, are not part of any emergence of the Western world, as pointed at my talk page? Back then, the only concept of the world was "of an all-round conflict". It goes along with Ancient world and indeed, after pre-Christian brutality. Instead we are to consider the western triumphal reference provided by author Rim sim on 19 November, to understand an ancient Western world before the Schism of 1054? That would be Western architecture specifically, inheritance from the Classical world of conflicted early european empires and emperors.
- I repeat once more that emergence of Western culture (architectural, linguistic) rather is rooted definitely in the emergence of Christianity throughout the rise of the Classical Roman-Greek principles and christian supremacy as well, but not the Western world; this instead, emerged from the Christian east-west Schism of 1054, well into the Dark Ages (historiography), just as the page stated before 19 November. Sure I am that Late Antiquity is often misinterpreted, a period leading into the Dark Ages, because it is the eve of the spread of Christianity throughout all of Europe that made Christianity the continent's uniting cultural subset of white people (right about when, and later in opposition to, the Islam's religious spread in the Middle East, by the way). Then also as hinted before, revisions by Rim sim would be around the topic of the North-South divide (white people versus the southern populations), not really about the Western world which is about white people but not necessarily (see Latin America and Eastern Europe plenty of whites, but not Western world). The basis of (talk) 09:58, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
- Conclusion is that Western world is not a concept rooted in the emergence of the Roman Republic through the Classical ancient Roman-Greek worlds, which would anticipate the whole spread of Christianity throughout Europe from the Dark Ages; it is rooted in the Christian East-West schism of 1054 instead, and by any source especially. This is about the very first sentence added on top of previous version on 19 November by user Rim sim: undeniably wrong.
- The concept of "the West" first came into existence with the emergence of the Roman Republic, the roots of which can be traced back to Ancient Greece.
- Instead whole revision by the user (user coming from editing the world of industrial porn acting) has been substantially accepted over mine. The basis of (talk) 16:07, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Topic ban violations
[edit]Rim sim, as far as I can see, your topic ban imposed ten years ago (AE log) which you were later blocked for violating [1] was never lifted. As such you should not be editing any content about India, Pakistan, or Afghanistan. If I have missed where this was modified, please let me know. Callanecc This is an old sanction, but do you recall whether this was lifted? If not, how do you feel it ought to be enforced? A large number of Rim sim's contributions for the last year have been violations. Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:37, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- I don't believe it was ever lifted but it's been long enough that I may be wrong. I'm keen to hear what Rim sim has to say about that before commenting on any further steps. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:18, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- I was actually unblocked from that ban about two weeks later [2]. Logging back after many years, checked if there are any further blocks on my account and there were none [3]. Started to edit again only from then, regards. Rim sim (talk) 09:22, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think you're confused between a block and a ban. A block appears in the block log while the topic ban was imposed in the message I left on your talk page at the time. At the time I also explained that "this means that you cannot make any edit related to India, Pakistan, or Afghanistan, broadly construed, anywhere on Wikipedia until you successfully appeal that sanction." Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 09:49, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry for my confusion, at that time I made quite a few appeals on talk pages and left Wikipedia altogether after removal of that block. Over the last few years since coming back I am understanding how wikipedia works and have made some positive contributions so far. I hope that topic ban on my account is lifted as it was imposed a very long time ago when I was just an amateur who started editing. Rim sim (talk) 10:28, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Rim sim, to be able to edit topics related to India, Pakistan, or Afghanistan you would need to successfully appeal the topic ban. Generally you should do this at WP:AN or WP:AE. See Wikipedia:Contentious topics#Appeals and amendments for more information on how that works. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 09:06, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
