Proposed deletion of Biology Open (journal)[edit]

The article Biology Open (journal) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

New journal, to be launched later this year. Has not yet had time to become notable, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:GNG or WP:NJournals.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your submission at Articles for creation[edit]

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Biology Open (Journal). Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

I have outside references - both of which refer to the journal. The article cited is in fact the whole reason why the journal was launched in the first place. I'm confused as to how http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Biology has been published with the same type of references. Two of your references are an essay by the journal's editor, who isn't quite as independent a source as we'd prefer. The third doesn't discuss the journal in any detail, but comments on the editor's essay.
The other journal articles you link to are also tagged for insufficient sources, but while other problematic articles may exist, that's no reason to create more - each submission must stand on its own merits. Huon (talk) 22:18, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
