Information icon Hello, I'm CanadianLinuxUser. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Rosie Roff, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. CanadianLinuxUser (talk) 13:53, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Scoocher16,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Abigail Ratchford, may be copied from http://abigailratchford.tumblr.com/. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 18:09, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:AbigailRatchford1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:28, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editing problems

[edit]

Although the issues of promotional editing and conflict of interest have been mentioned on other pages where you have edited, I think to make sure that the issues are clear to you, it will be useful to post copies of a couple of notices about them here. It is only fair to make sure that you are aware that promotional editing is contrary to Wikipedia policy, and that continuing in the same way may lead to being blocked from editing, so that you can avoid that happening. Also, although it was a little while ago, I should like to point out that your editing at User talk:Bbb23 amounted to harassment of another editor. After he had answered your questions, you persisted in badgering him, claiming that he had not answered them. Even when he pointed out that he had answered your questions, and made it abundantly clear that he had no more to say to you on the issues, you repeatedly posted to his talk page demanding responses. Even if I thought there were any merit at all to your claims against him (which I don't) your behaviour would have been unacceptable. Everyone here is a volunteer, and is under no obligation to respond to anything. You need to realise that such behaviour towards another editor is unacceptable, and can lead to being blocked from editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Scoocher16. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion.
