臼井靈氣式療法 - Usui Reiki Shiki Ryoho

Hello, Usui Reiki Shiki Ryoho (Usui's spiritual healing method?) is written "臼井靈氣式療法".(That's correct!) I checked their website, and they call themselves "臼井靈氣式療法"or 臼井式靈氣療法 (Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho: Usui's style spiritual healing method). But I think both nuance of the meaning are not so different in Japanese.--Yghwtrrl (talk) 01:23, 19 February 2010 (UTC)--Yghwtrrl (talk) 09:01, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey Yghwtrrl. Thanks for getting back to me :) YAY! I'm glad I got it right - I've spent ages researching Japanese Kenji and the romanisation of Japanese, so I'm chuffed to get it right :) Thanks again, Xxglennxx (talk) 00:31, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:ChakrasColour.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non Free Files in your User Space

Hey there Xxglennxx, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot alerting you that Non-free files are not allowed in the user or talk-space. I removed some files that I found on User:Xxglennxx/Wica. No problem. Thanks for doing that - I wasn't aware that it wasn't free, as it originally came from a Wikipedia article - the article in my userspace is one from the Welsh Wicipedia, and I'm keeping it there for reference. Thanks again. Xxglennxx (talk) 03:38, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Reiki Article

Hi xxglenxx, The changes I have made were trying to correct the misquotation of the article that I added to the site. The 5th reference article ('Lee_SR') states that "Nine (9) of the 12 trials detected a significant therapeutic effect of the Reiki intervention" , that is a direct quotation from the results section of the paper. Putting in "A systematic review of randomised clinical trials conducted in 2008 did not support the efficacy of Reiki or its recommendation for use in the treatment of any condition" is a blatant untruth and does not correctly represent the findings or claims of the authors of the article. The one unsource I did was to remove the footnote to the (Henderson, Mark. "Prince of Wales's guide to alternative medicine 'inaccurate'", The Times. April 17, 2008. Accessed November 13, 2008.) article in reference to the 2008 study which it neither mentions or has any relevance to. I would be happy to send you a link to the full ('Lee_SR') article for your reference. Please write me back so we can resolve this issue amiably, I'm just trying to correct the references to the article which I posted. Thank you and blessed be,

-Oh wow I think I found our problem, the source I posted is not the source that is listed as 5 any more. Thats where the misunderstanding is comming from. The source I was referencing was http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19922247. Its a much larger study and was originally posted to the references for the tag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vajko (talkcontribs) 03:22, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Anglo-Latin fideo

Hi! I'm just a bit curious about this dif. What precisely do you think needs a citation? Thanks. garik (talk) 00:32, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey. Not just "fideo," but the whole section; it doesn't cite any sources. There could be a source after, "Welsh vocabulary draws mainly from original Brythonic words," for example, and the other words. -- Xxglennxx talkcontributions 02:35, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that makes better sense! I agree with you. I don't think anyone's disputing the origin of fideo, but the claim about "mainly original Brythonic words" may be based on nothing but guesswork. I'll have a look around for a source when I have time. garik (talk) 08:08, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Reiki - 2008 trials comment

Hi xxglennxx, I was curious about the post in Reiki "A 2008 systematic review of randomised clinical trials[4] concluded that "..the evidence is insufficient to suggest that reiki is an effective treatment..[sic]" for the conditions studied (depression, pain and anxiety, and others)." Does this need to be on the page? I have found other studies that contradict this statement on the website http://www.reiki.net.au/copy.asp?id=BenefitsScience. I am new to learning about Reiki and this part of the Wikipedia page on Reiki really put me off.

I thought since you are actively working with this page I would ask your opinion about this since I have never edited Wikipedia content. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Kind Regards, Heatherfinchagain (talk) 13:30, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Heatherfinchagain. I myself have found contradicting studies that prove almost beyond doubt the benefits and healing qualities of Reiki. The one meantioned in the opening section of the article has been discussed many many time on the article's talk page. Though be aware that the study isn't saying that Reiki doesn't work, merely that the tests researched showed insufficient evidence to suggest that Reiki is an effective treatment. This test was a systematic review of Reiki tests, which are basically many tests lumped together and their findings collaborated. I don't like systematic reviews as many of them put a negative slant on complementary therapies and medicine. Do not be put of by this statement; once you've learnt Reiki one, you'll be amazed at the Reiki itself. I've just completed my Masters in Usui Reiki Shiki Ryōhō. Which style will you be studying? If you'd like to discuss the 2008 study, join in with the discussion on the talk page :) Hope you're well, -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 14:59, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
P.S., I have The Reiki Sourcebook by Bronwen and Frans Stiene, and let me tell you, it's probably one of the most comprehensive books written on Reiki. It contains loads of information, especially on the Japanese side of Reiki and Reiki practice. Buy it if you can above all other Reiki books. Their other books are also worth an investment! -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 15:01, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Xxglennxx, thank you very much for your informative and helpful response. Sadly I do not know what style my group studies. I am sure they have said, but as it is all new to me, I am not sure. I am being attuned in the beginning of October (due to my busy schedule in Sept.) and I almost can't wait, but know I need to be in the right frame of mind (not feeling rushed) when I go through it. My group has a library of books to choose from, so I will see if the Reiki Sourcebook is part of it, if not I will provide the contribution to the group myself. Thank you for your help! Heatherfinchagain (talk) 09:18, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
No problem :) Glad I could help. Good luck with your Reiki; I'm sure you'll enjoy it as I did my first attunement. -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 22:02, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi glen, hope you find this a useful addition to the Reiki page http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21821642 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.36.247.213 (talk) 02:54, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you - I'll take it to the Reiki talk page and see if we can do anything with it :) -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 21:37, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Welsh Language

Yes it is relevent, but it's too much for the main page of this article. It should be on the Welsh language article. we need to reduce the Wales article by about 40% to head towards GA status. It's just too bulky. The Welsh language Article is great, and the info on the Wales page is just too detailed for a glance of the Welsh culture. Just transfer the info to the Welsh Language page. FruitMonkey (talk) 00:54, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm not deleting your revert, just challenging your opinion. Cheers. FruitMonkey (talk) 00:56, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Healthy debate is good, so challenge away! :) In comparison to other sections of the article, I don't think it's too much. It is near enough the same length as the Religion section, and personally I'd place more weight on the languages part, though that's possibly being biased. I'd not object to moving the last section "During the 20th century a number.." to ".."Cofi." to the Welsh language article. -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 01:15, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Wales

I have put the Wales article forward for GA status. It just needs tweaking, and maybe a heavy-handed swipe from outside to get it in place. I am writing to those who are constant contributors and defenders of Wales and Welsh articles, to not scream at me for doing this, put help get the article through. If we fail, we fail, there is nothing wrong with that; but Wales should be a Good Article at least and if it takes good intentioned amateurs to reach that then so be it. FruitMonkey (talk) 01:20, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Y Bandana

I noticed that you changed the article, and I'm assuming the no it doesn't refers to the comment on the band's name. Being a native speaker of Welsh, I know that "Y Bandana", when read out with proper pronunciation, is phonetically identical to "Y band da 'na", which is how we would say "that good band" in Welsh. This is definitely true of the Welsh spoken in the Caernarfon area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisbontnewydd (talkcontribs) 12:53, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, I reverted your recent edits there but wanted to contact you about them. The capitalisation (goddess/Goddess) thing we have discussed a lot - there's a fresh discussion on the talk page even now which explains the rationale distinguishing mentions of a goddess from those of the Goddess. The other change you made related to some text which you deleted and which had a citation needed template - I think this is maybe worth discussing on the talk page for the atricle, if you'd be willing to argue the case for the deletion? Diolch yn fawr! Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 15:21, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

No worries - I saw that some vandalism had been reverted by another user and thought that the above was the left overs of forgotten editing :) I took the mention of the needs citation as that quote has been there for a while and sounds like something someone has just typed. As most people who strole into Wikipedia don't supply refs, I thought it best to just get rid of it than create extra work for the regular contributors. -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 22:05, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Cwmbrân

Xxglennxx, sorry I didn't have time to make the page move last night as promised. However, I'm afraid that the way you changed the page title didn't follow the correct procedure for moving pages -- which has, amongst other things, meant the loss of the discussion history. I've tried, without success, to revert your initial change. I think we need the help of an administrator now to put things back to how they were so that we can make the move properly. -- Picapica (talk) 11:57, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Sorry - I thought it was the right way - by transfering the article and the redirect pages. Anyway, i've reverted all of it, so its as if i've not done anything :) Ill leave it all to you now :) -- Xxglennxx (talkcont.) 20:48, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Because of a previously existing Cwmbrân --> Cwmbran redirect, I'm afraid that mere mortals like you and me can only get this changed to Cwmbran --> Cwmbrân (in a way which will preserve all the discussion history, etc.) by going through the administrator-assisted process of putting an appropriate requested move notice on the talk page (which I've now done) and waiting seven days. In the meantime, though, I've been through the article and, as well as one or two other minor edits, generally changed Cwmbran to Cwmbrân in the body of the text wherever appropriate (i.e. I haven't changed from Cwmbran where I can't find any evidence of the Cwmbrân spelling being used of, or in particular by, any organization in its own name for itself). Incidentally, having now read the whole of the article closely, I can see that it would benefit from a bit of a "wash and brush up" in general (article structure, elimination of repetitions, etc.) but I'll need to set aside some time for that. Meanwhile, it's not unusual on WP for the title of an article to lag behind its content, but I'm afraid we will have to wait a while now before a title move can take place. -- Picapica (talk) 08:46, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Nodyn:Flag icon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. LOL on deletion of Polish as a minor language

1) If You think that something in Wikipedia is not properly English spelling(most people are not writers, but for e.g. engineers, and write in English not because they like this language - like me, sadly French is not still 1st of the World, but to improve it also. But don't be afraid, soon the Chinese dialects would be more popular, and English would be treated like French today ) You should correct it, not delete(especially if You are a native speaker...), imagine for e.g. that I or my friends won't help You, even understanding what are You saying somewhere in Europe, UK, Wales just because that they don't like Your spelling/language. 2) The Polish is one of the largest spoken minority languages in UK today. Go for e.g. on trip to the London. The official British census also states that(use search engine). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.68.103.25 (talk) 20:49, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
