Location of Vesthimmerland municipality

Vesthimmerland municipality is a municipality (Danish: kommune) in North Denmark Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 768.08 km² (2013) (www.noegletal.dk) and a total population of 38,277 (2008).

On 1 January 2007 Vesthimmerland municipality was created as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Aalestrup, Farsø, Løgstør, and Aars.

The municipal seat is the town of Aars.
