[edit]Previous edits I've made over the past two years are no longer connected to my account profile
[edit]I've made several edits in the past but today I received a message that I was making my first edit ever and received a "welcome" message in response. I am using a new personal computer bought in the past month. Is there a way to connect my previous edits so that my history of doing edits is connected?
Thanks!
Scott Scott Krieger (talk) 01:37, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Scott Krieger: Your contributions show three edits from November of last year, is that what you're referring to? The account you're using is 12 years old. ––FormalDude (talk) 01:41, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Prior to two years ago I also made edits on the article "Lincoln and Slavery" and also on "Primo Levi". Those were probably about 6 years ago.
- Strange that today I received the message that this was my first edit. It then would not let me edit a page that was protected unless I made four other edits to unprotected pages.
- Can the older edits I made beyond two years ago be connected to my account?
- Also, how can I see my past edits?
- Thanks again! Scott Krieger (talk) 01:46, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Scott Krieger, it sounds like you may have created a new account after making some edits previously, whether on another account or logged out. We can't merge the accounts, but you can if you like go find those edits and note them on your user page. If your previous edits were made on a previous account or on your IP, you could go find those edits by searching for the IP's/old accounts edits. Your past edits for the Scott Krieger account are here. Valereee (talk) 01:53, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think this the other account that you're referring to: Scott Krieger 22 (talk · contribs). Jauerbackdude?/dude. 02:04, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Scott Krieger: Special:Contributions/Scott Krieger 22 shows that User:Scott Krieger 22 has edited those articles. I suggest you only use one of the accounts in the future. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry. If you forgot the password for Scott Krieger 22 then you can use Special:PasswordReset. The account was created in 2020 and has stored an email address. We cannot see it. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:10, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks to all of you, Valaree, Jauerback and Formaldude, I shall link these on my user page as I would be very happy not to lose the history of these contributions to the knowledge held on Wikipedia.
- Could you let me know, will I still need to make several more edits before I am allowed to also edit protected pages, or can someone in Wikipedia provide this permission since I have a history of past edits?
- All the best,
- Scott Scott Krieger (talk) 23:58, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Scott Krieger, you only need three more edits in order to become autoconfirmed again. May I suggest doing a little more work at Ion (play), since you seem to be interested in the subject? The plot summary needs a great deal of condensing - per our Manual of Style, it should only be around 700 words at most (see here for guidance). 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:34, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Scott Krieger: You can request the autoconfirmed userright at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Confirmed. ––FormalDude (talk) 09:40, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
Help to fix the reference of Stan Dziedzic
[edit]I need help here. When I go to reference to find https://nwhof.org/news/united-world-wrestling-to-induct-15-into-2016-hall-of-fame-class It says, "404 - Page not found." I'm sorry. And I found the right one, https://nwhof.org/news/united-world-wrestling-to-inductbr-15-into-2016-hall-of-fame-class. I found it. "United World Wrestling to Induct 15 into 2016 Hall of Fame Class." Can you help me fix it in the right reference of Stan Dziedzic? Thank you. 100.2.114.167 (talk) 02:27, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
add to a current article
[edit]Why hasn't my unlawful termination been added to the list of horrors done by the former DCFire Chief Kenneth Ellerbe (may he rot in hell)? if you FOIA Judge Howards decision, you will learn I was fully reinstated 108.45.180.198 (talk) 03:29, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there! I presume you're referring to the Kenneth B. Ellerbe article. Every Wikipedia editor is a volunteer who chooses what they want to work on. With over 6 million articles, not every article gets updated as often as it should. Since you have a conflict of interest, I appreciate you not updating the article yourself. However, you may use the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard to ask another editor to update the article. (You could also post on Talk:Kenneth B. Ellerbe and add the {{edit request}} template, but the wizard makes it easier.) Hope this helps, and thanks for the suggestion. GoingBatty (talk) 03:41, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
we want make assignment
[edit]i want to know vision and mision of this company? can we know ? because we want to make assignment about company.i hope you respond this . 60.54.16.15 (talk) 06:52, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- What company? Do you mean Wikipedia, English Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation or something else? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:41, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Your question is unclear. Regarding mission statements in articles, see Wikipedia:MISSION. For Wikipedia's own mission, see Wikipedia:Purpose. Shantavira|feed me 09:25, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Also note that your use of "we" might turn some heads. Wikipedia accounts are meant for use of one person, not a group of people. Read Wikipedia:SHAREDACCOUNT. Club On a Sub 20 (talk) 18:54, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
Source it or nom it for deletion?
[edit]Should pages like List of programs broadcast by TeleRadyo exist and be sourced, or should it be deleted? I looked at multiple years of this page and besides the occasional source for why something was shown or not shown, this page has never had sufficient sourcing. I'm unsure whether to add the unsourced please fix banner, or mark it for prod deletion. What's the protocol here? Thanks. Zinnober9 (talk) 07:03, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- I would say delete, but I've never understood why some lists of non-notable items are accepted. You could try asking at WT:WikiProject Lists, or WT:WikiProject Television. ColinFine (talk) 16:43, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, those were my thoughts as well. I'll see if anyone has something to add at those projects, otherwise I'll prod. Thanks, Zinnober9 (talk) 00:56, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
Ref number 34 is "in the red". Please fix if you are able. Thank you. 175.38.42.62 (talk) 09:14, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Fixed. One of the references you had added in that edit included a "date" field with the content "Copyright Laura E. Tolbert 2018". That is not obviously not a standard date format and caused the problem. TigraanClick here for my talk page ("private" contact) 09:32, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
How can I stop Wikipedia from changing the links I follow based on my location?
[edit]I’m in Norway and when I follow links to Wikipedia articles on my phone (I’m using chrome on iOS) the links are automatically changed to “no.m.wikipedia.org/whatever” and I’m show a site stating that the article doesn’t exist. I then have to manually change the “no” to “en” in order to view the linked article. What can I do to stop this behavior? I mean besides always using a vpn to appear to be in an English speaking country. Can Wikipedia’s developers change something to stop this behavior (it’s hardly functional)? How does one get in touch with them?
Bbbbbbao (talk) 18:07, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Bbbbbbao, there's a technical forum at WP:VPT, but I'm not sure from your description whether this is something being done on Wikipedia's end or by your phone's software. Are you using one of the Wikipedia apps? Or are you just doing a search in a search engine and then clicking the result? 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:30, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Actually, I assumed it was something happening in the browser but thinking back it seems to only apply to when I use iOS's built in “look up” function which displays English Wikipedia articles but sends me to a broken link when I click on them… Apple probably won’t prioritize that if it’s happening on their end. I guess I can ask at the technical forum but my immediate annoyance has burned out a bit for the moment.
Bbbbbbao (talk) 18:54, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Someone who's more of a mobile software guru might come along and correct me, @Bbbbbbao, but that does sound like an iOS problem rather than something on this end. There's an iOS Wikipedia app which you could try to see how it works for you (more at Help:Mobile access). 199.208.172.35 (talk) 19:09, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Tables
[edit]How do I go about fixing this table https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Raven%27s_Home&curid=53691702&diff=1138265663&oldid=1138265459? Also is there a guide for tables? Magical Golden Whip (talk) 20:16, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Magical Golden Whip Try reading Help:Wikitable and see if you can work out how to fix it yourself. If you are still stuck, by all means ask here for more help. Mike Turnbull (talk) 20:41, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Alternatively, go back to the version before you started editing, and then make your changes slowly and and carefully, checking each one before making the next. Maproom (talk) 21:25, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
