Propose merging Template:Infobox venue with Template:Infobox theatre.
Similar templates; overlapping uses. (Eventual merger was supported by several commenters at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2014 May 5#Template:Infobox venue). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:30, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose There is a significant difference between a theatre and Michigan Stadium. I don't see how they should be merged in the slightest.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 23:16, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support merging Infobox theatre into Infobox venue (not the other way round). Theaters, arenas, stadiums etc. are places where people go to sit and watch things. Concerts could be held in any of them. They may or may not be roofed, may have tiered seating etc. Presumably political assembly halls also qualify as venues. They often have balconies for spectators, and at least in a small town the same hall could be used for council meetings and concerts. How about churches? They can be used for concerts as well as for services, and may have much the same design as theaters, lighting, sound systems etc. I don't think mosques would fit - they seem more a place for quiet worship, with no seating or stage. • Support merging Infobox theatre into Infobox venue (not the other way round) as per previous comments. "Venue" does seem to be the more general concept. 134.134.137.75 (talk) 00:10, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
