PROJECT BANNER

Hi, I ve remodelled the {{WPYU-GI-OH}} (template name also changed), to a version were you can specify more details, this is for managing all the project's workload. Hope you look at it at least, I'm looking forward to renew this wikiproject (Prevent pple at gathering surpass us)--Andersmusician $ 05:11, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Are fan works to be mentioned in anime articles?

Some kids at Talk:Yu-Gi-Oh!#yu-gi-oh_the_abridged_series want a fan work to be mentioned on the article page. I stated that mentioning it would not be notable. WhisperToMe 20:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

You need to make sure you aren't confusing notability with the guidelines on having reliable sources - something does not have to be notable in order to be mentioned in an article but does if it going to have an article of it's own. Doesn't really make any difference though, I've looked for sources on the Abridged Series and haven't found any - so it shouldn't be mentioned. I don't agree with your stance that a fan work simply isn't worthy of inclusion regardless of the circumstances - see Harry_Potter_fandom#Fan_fiction for an example. Chazz's VA: Pete Capella or Tony Salerno?

I believe Pete Capella is Chazz's VA. Chazz's voice changed, Jaden's didn't. Pete Capella moved away, Salerno didn't. Can someone help me change his info page now? Batwing321 04:52, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Just to point out, the 'rated', 'quality scale' and 'importance scale' wikilinks on that template are dead. Yu-Gi-Oh related game

Hi, do you know where this image (Image:Yu-Gi-Oh Spirit Caller.jpg) should be? It will be deleted after Tuesday, 17 July 2007--Andersmusician VOTE 01:34, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

This article needs someone in the know to look at it. I'm not quite sure what the subject of the article is supposed to be. EvilRedEye 21:58, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Individual episode articles

Individual episode articles need to stop right now. I suggest merging and redirecting them all to their respective "media and release" articles. In fact, I suggest turning those pages into "List of Yu-Gi-Oh! media" and "List of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX media" and then imitating WikiProject Anime's Featured Lists. Please also see Wikipedia:Television episodes for why individual articles in the case of Yu-Gi-Oh! are bad in a big way. Axem Titanium 06:23, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I support that, but hope episodes get merged by season, as a minimum --Andersmusician VOTE 03:58, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Too many characer articles!

Every other series has been getting a "Characters in blah blah Series" article, why is this one different? Can someone please start merging them all to one big article? There's no way all of those are notable. Also, please do the same to the Yugioh GX article. Some of those character pages are longer then the page for the show itself! • I hope someone from this project will offer assistance, as I haven't had much luck in getting anyone else to pay attention. There is a content dispute between myself and Taiketsu (talk · contribs) at this article. Initially, Taiketsu was blocked for revert-warring on this article, insisting that because this Wikipedia is primarily used by Americans, this article should list only the U.S. airdates, even though episodes have previously aired in Canada and the U.K. before here (and the last few have actually not aired in the U.S. yet). He's trying to circumvent the issue now by changing "English airdates" to "U.S. airdates" in the article. To me this is a clear case of systemic bias that should be avoided. I was under the impression that avoiding systemic bias was policy, but as it turns out it's not. I have an RFC on the article, but no response yet. Can someone help? I guess it's hard to get people to give a damn about Yu-Gi-Oh, but... give it a shot, please? JuJube (talk) 07:44, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I agree with you. This is English wikipedia not American Wikipedia. Maybe Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias can help.Jyuichi (talk) 05:18, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Taiketsu is wrong. The norm for these lists is to have the original air date and then the first English air date. List of Stargate Atlantis episodes is a good example of where there is actually a mix of US and Canadian air dates being first. -- Ned Scott 05:33, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Yu-Gi-Oh Millenium Items

There is a discussion ongoing about what do do with the Millennium Items page. The AfD resulted in no consensus because about 6 different options were presented. It was clear, however, that neither the status quo nor any of the suggestions were strictly superior. I'm looking for some support from the project to see what to do with this page. WikiProject Media franchises

Dear WikiProject Yu-Gi-Oh! participants...WikiProject Media franchises needs some help from other projects which are similar. Media franchises' scope deals primarily with the coordination of articles within the hundreds if not thousands of media franchises which exist. Sometimes a franchise might just need color coordination of the various templates used; it could mean creating an article for the franchise as a jump off point for the children of it; or the creation of a new templating system for media franchise articles. The project primarily focuses on multimedia franchises. It would be great if some of this project's participants would come over and help the project get back on solid footing. Also, if you know of similar projects which have not received this, let Lady Aleena (talk · contribs) know. Please come and take a look at the project and see if you wish to lend a hand. You can sign up here if you wish. Thank you. LA @ 21:45, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Yu-Gi-Oh!

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! Cleanup on Yu-Gi-Oh! episode related articles

  • Because of a discussion on WP:ANIME, I noticed that the Yu-Gi-Oh! episode list related articles have Japanese episode names listed in English instead of romanji, which is probably WP:OR. I'm not familiar with the uncut versions and whether or not they're actually "dubtitles", but with GX they'd very definitely not be kosher. Going to clean it up when I get the chance. Text on Orichalcos Cards

The Japanese Orichalcos cards have Enochian text in the lore section, but nobody has translated them.

The lack of translations probably come from a lack of an unobstructed image, but Japanese episode 149 might have a workable image.Romyes (talk) 23:54, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 07:01, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Sources

Does this project have any known sources that can pass WP:V and other policies? Janime is fansite and the YGO wiki is a wiki, so both can't be used. Other than magazines, what sources can be used that pass policy. I think many articles in this project have GA and FA potential, but lack of sourcing is a huge problem. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 20:32, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

I've been over all the sources at Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Online reliable sources and I can't find a single source with reviews of Yu-Gi-Oh!, character analysis, comparisons, or anything besides vague DVD descriptions. I'm starting to think this is a lost cause. Quite frankly, every single in the scope of this project (or task force or work group or whatever it is now) sucks. If sources could be found, I do feel a lot of the articles could be greatly improved. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 05:57, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
This is Yu-Gi-Oh!. The sources definitely exist; it's just a matter of looking in the right place (and I'm definitely not suggesting that you didn't look hard enough; even sources for huge franchises like this can be surprisingly hard to find). I say let eventualism do its thing. =) --Dinoguy1000 (talk · contribs) as 67.58.229.153 (talk) 04:42, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Article Mergers

Many articles have been suggested to be merged with List of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX characters, some listed as early as a year ago. There has ZERO discussion on this at Talk:List of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX characters. Most of the articles, should be merged, with the possible exception of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX minor characters. In addition, I'd think Chazz Princeton deserves his own article. However, notablity on Wikipedia is dependent on third party sources, so in reality, due to lack of sourcing, no GX character articles pass WP:N. I'd really suggest some discussion on this issue start, otherwise, I may end up AfDing some of the articles and then merging them. I know this project is jsut still starting out, but I really think this should be a priority. Thanks, Gavyn Sykes (talk) 18:55, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Slashed Comment due to offensive nature. - TitusFox'Tribs 06:38, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

so, i heard about this licensing thing

from a forum that i frequent, one forumer states that for one company to buy completely buy rights to a tile, they must pay the license fees for the animation, names, music and voice acting, which 4kids only pays for the animation(and make stupid edits to it).

So, what i trying to say is that, i feel that it is not right to use the dub names as it looks like censorship(well, it did hide the TRUE names), the dub names should be optional as 4kids, which mostly cause the weird edits to the 5ds area(the case where 4kids somehow go against the oringinal plot in around the 1st arc where the 4kids dub Rex Godwin said that the "Dragon Head" Signer arm belongs to him where the oringinal show does not say anything about that.)

so, i need you guys' opinions on whether the dub names should be removed, or make the oringinal name primary info and the dub names as secondary or optional. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.227 (talk) 13:42, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Updates to TV#MOS

I'm not sure how many people monitor WP:MOSTV or even WP:TV (the basic WikiProject for all of us), but we've been trying to get some feedback on additions to the TV Manual of Style. It largely has to do with the inclusion of "Overview" tables at the start of the page, the order in which season lists are presented (currently, there is no concrete order), and what is considered too much info for DVDs (i.e. should we be placing every detail about the box set in the article, from each interview to the aspect ratio, or should be keep it more generalized). Please see discussion at WT:MOSTV#Updates to the MOS. Thank you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:14, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Yu-Gi-Oh! articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Yu-Gi-Oh! articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!
