Laiza Dam was constructed in 2005 by using Munglai Stream of the KIO controlled area of Kachin State Northern Myanmar.
In 2005 Laiza became a populated city and necessary electric power supplied from China was not sufficient as well as arising several controversies amongst concerned people, the KIO worked out plan to construct a Hydro-electric power for the city using Munglai Stream. Dam for the Power plant is about 2 kilometers long and the ideal came out to make a bridge over the dam. The dam-cum-bridge falls right at Farm area of the Department of Agriculture and Forest Conservation, which resulted in demolishing Agricultural field.
