Hadsund

Hadsund is a town with a population of 5,040 (1 January 2011)[1] in Mariagerfjord municipality, Region Nordjylland on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark.

Until January 1, 2007, Hadsund was also a municipality (Danish, kommune) in North Jutland County The municipality covered an area of 170 km², and had a total population of 10,918 (2005). Its last mayor was Karl Christensen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

Hadsund municipality ceased to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Arden, Hobro, and Mariager municipalities to form the new Mariagerfjord municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 769 km² and a total population of 43,049 (2005).
