The Styrene Information and Research Center (SIRC), Inc. was formed in 1987 "as the principal focal point for public information and research on styrene." SIRC is a non-profit organization consisting of 17 Voting member companies involved in the manufacturing or processing of styrene, and 11 Associate member companies that fabricate styrene-based products. Collectively, SIRC's membership represents approximately 95% of the North American styrene industry.[1] Jack Snyder has served as the Executive Director since at least 2008.[2][3]

This industry organization launched a promotional website, You Know Styrene, in 2011; and also engages in lobbying on behalf of its members.[4] Its current efforts are focused on opposing the classification of styrene as a carcinogen.[5]
