El Morro NM[edit]

Benjamin,

I'm in the process of editing El Morro National Monument and I noticed you made it a Mexico stub. I do not think the article is related to Mexico. I'm making it a U.S. Location stub, but I'm leaving the Mexico stub until I hear from you.

Please read Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and tag the images you've uploaded with copyright information. If you need help, just yell. :) Mgm|(talk) 18:45, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)

Greetings, and thanks for tagging this image. Unfortunately, this image doesn't fall under fair use; I am listing it on the Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images page for review and likely deletion. Please read Wikipedia:Fair use for a checklist that will help you determine if an image can be used this way; your further contributions are welcome so long as they meet these guidelines. Thanks, Mindspillage (spill yours?) 05:33, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image tag[edit]

Hi, I would like to inform you that the Image:Boa.jpg is under a copyright used under permission. under the new rules anything added from this june is likely a target for immediate deletion. unless you can get it as a public domain image i'm afraid it'll be deleted soon. I like the image and hope you can get the rights changed since its a zoo. cheers. --Idleguy 12:41, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for your participation in the HP WikiProject. I was just perusing the archive of the talk page (I hadn't even noticed it had been archived till now) and I saw you'd been having some trouble with the open task box...I hope you were able to get that fixed to your satisfaction. I was wondering if you'd mind looking to go ahead and remove the screenshot from the image database, since it's of singular use and I'd like to conserve disk space. Thanks again for your contributions! Cheers! EvilPhoenix July 4, 2005 05:53 (UTC)

I've removed the image from the page. I can't delete it myself though. --bjwebb 4 July 2005 15:01 (UTC)

Should new revelations in ongoing events be mentioned or not. I was going to add about the police announcing who they thought the bombers were, but I'm not sure whether I should. --bjwebb 14:13, 15 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Mention it. It's a current event. As long as you cite a news source it's fine. Steve block 14:38, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

Redirects and anchors[edit]

Just FYI, adding an anchor to the redirect actually doesn't work, i.e. if you type in Reaper (Doctor Who), it won't take you to "R" even if you put an "#R" tag in it. Not sure why this is the case, but just to let you know so you don't waste energy putting in the anchors. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 10:14, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Stirfry.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Stirfry.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Carnildo or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you.

Sorry for uploading it. It was before I had realised the process of image tagging and is actually under a non comercial use only liscence.--βjweþþ (talk) 09:26, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza![edit]

Welcome, Bjwebb/Archive, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Unverified tags[edit]

Hullo. I patrol recent changes. When I see articles created (especially when I don't recognize them) I read 'em to see if everything's kosher. In this case, it was an unreferenced article. How do I know it exists? A third party reference (such as a link to a government food site or university food lab/faculty) which confirms its existence would do it. Ifnord 23:04, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An unverified tag does not imply that an article is "bad" nor that it's marked for deletion. It just means that there is no third party reference. I have added one (as an example) and have removed the tag. Ifnord 17:50, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for edit summary[edit]

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 9% for major edits and 19% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 16:31, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:Boa.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Boa.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Lemons[edit]

No problem. I several years ago I found this article in sad shape and was one of the first to add substantial info to it. Much of that information is still retained, but less of a emphasis was put on referencing. Indeed, many of my references were removed by previous editors -- I cannot recall what is what in this particular case, but it doese not matter; I have included them now. I was unaware of the good article nomination- I have a interest in making this article meet this standard, as well. What it needs now is in-line citations. My wiki knowledge is sorely out of date, so I am afraid I cannot help you there, ut I can link you to sources where a in-line citation would direct, though. The tree details and cultivation refer to the two book references, and the Pompeii comment goes to one of the two (neither book is in my collection now). If theres any way I could help, just name it. Fledgeling 21:08, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually i just learned how to do inline citations. Should one link be listed twice, once in the referencs, and once in the external links section? It seems redundant, but thats how it stands in lemon at the moment. Fledgeling 23:39, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
ok, do what you can. I'll try and get more info where i can of the net. About refrence links, two is handy as it depends on what section you read. --Bjwebb (talk) 13:43, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:PediaPress logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Unspecified source for Image:Toco.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Toco.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:48, 29 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Muchness 03:48, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Hag.jpg. 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 03:18, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Lilie.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lilie.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:24, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Audcoat.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:24, 11 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner.
