Frank Foster

An editor doesn't seem to like your image of Frank Foster and keeps replacing it with a promotional pic instead. However, the rationale is not very strong for the image at all and I was wondering if you could improve it? - JuneGloom Talk 18:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

The image that you have used is an older image of Frank and bares no resemblance to his current appearance on the show. My image is far better!!!!!!!

1) This is not a competition to see for who uploads the "better" image. 2) That file is a promotional image - with a bad rationale. 3) I do not think it represents his current appearance either - since he is lying cold on a slab or shoved in a draw.Rain the 1 14:30, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
GS's picture of Frank is not in proportion - it is stretched. –anemoneprojectors– 14:46, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
My picture is not stretched is it? Looks perfect to me. GSorbyPing 14:50, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Looks very stretched to me! Unless it's my tv and that's how he looks! –anemoneprojectors– 14:58, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps you are using an older monitor or graphics card which doesn't support widescreen correction. GSorbyPing 15:02, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Oh and pardon my French but fuck yes by day has come: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a370668/eastenders-executive-producer-bryan-kirkwood-to-stand-down.html GSorbyPing 15:04, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm not really bothered by which image is included in the article (the prose is more important), but it must have a strong rationale and at the moment the promotional image's one is weak. - JuneGloom Talk 15:12, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
I myself thought the Frank image was strecthed, but still think the screenshot image should be used in the article, if it was changed or not, that is up to you. Also GSorby, im rather inclined to agree about your comment about Kirkwood, the only good character he created was Poppy Meadow, of course, joking... MayhemMario 16:26, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

BK is a great producer. EE has been much worse under other producers, it is time to worry when it gets to the state it ended up in 2004.Rain the 1 16:58, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
I never said he was the worst, he just wasn't as good as, let's say, Santer. Now HE was a great producer! GSorbyPing 17:08, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
I think they must have thought he would give the success he gave Hollyoaks. Pretty Shona McGarty, don't you think? I'd almost say she looks hot.Rain the 1 17:12, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
I hope I get a credit for Anne's article, considering you've used a lot of the info I added to the list in your draft. ;) - JuneGloom Talk 22:06, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh no of course! The list space had a lot of real world info from you! I couldn't resist splitting Anne off, what a character! GSorbyPing 22:09, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

It's alright, though have you ever seen WP:COPYWITHIN? It's not something I was aware of until recently. I didn't think Anne was that notable, but the article doesn't look bad. It's a wonder what you can do with recurring characters sometimes, just look at Diana Marshall. She only appeared for four months and I managed to get make her article a GA. - JuneGloom Talk 22:37, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

Who on earth............................

...................is going to be up at such an hour to watch a soap????!!!!

I reverted a change to the article the other day saying that because I had assumed that the BBC were shifting EastEnders to make way for Easter, anniversary of RMS Titanic sinking etc because they'd have special programmes for events like that. Would seem not! Don't know about anyone else but Friday night/Saturday morning I'm usually either out socialising or I'm in bed if I've work the next day! Certainly not watching EastEnders!!--5 albert square (talk) 20:32, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

I know!! It;s a right pain that they've moved that!! TO be honest, I reckon it will be moved back as a lot and I mean A LOT of people have complained about it! Anyways hope you are well. :-) GSorbyPing 21:01, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
There is no way it will get anywhere near the figures it used to get on a Sunday afternoon. I hope Points of View are prepared for the complaints haha!! Something like that, lol. I'm always up at that time, but I don't tend to watch much television. - JuneGloom Talk 00:13, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

"They've revamped the website, I like it!"

I had noticed this as I was working on my userspace drafts for lists of EastEnders episodes. I don't mind it, it's similar to other programmes now, but it does mean one extra click to move from one episode to the next! Would be nice if they could get every episode up! –anemoneprojectors– 14:44, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

They'll probably get round to it by 2048! As you said, it does match other BBC websites and the E20 one. GeorgePing! 15:29, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

your edit summary at List of EastEnders characters (2012)

I agree that my way of adding Joey the kitten might have looked immature, but did you have to be so rude about it? Yes he's not notable (yet) but I have discussed it on the talk page of list of 2008 characters and Anemone suggested a page with all pets on Eastenders which looks quite professional--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 13:38, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Sharon Watts

Hey, I was wondering if you'd be interested in collaborating on getting Sharon's article up to scratch from an OOU perspective. When AP, Trampikey and I started adding real world content to the EE articles, Sharon was one of the first ones we did, and as a result it isnt as well researched as some of the more recent EE articles that have been written by the EE project. Back then we were literally only bothered about adding as little real world info as possible in order to stop articles being spammed with boiler plates; we were much more concerned with as much plot as humanly possible! lol. I want to construct a plan for notable storylines it would be good to expand on, and then perhaps (if you're interested) we can work on sections as and when we have time. I was also thinking of asking Mario, Frick, Rain and June if they want to contribute, although I know Rain and June are usually busy on the other soap operas and havent noticed Frick around in a good while.... What do you think? GunGagdinMoan 15:39, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

I'd love to help, I guess I could expand on her 1995 exit and perhaps trim down on her storylines a bit. What d'you reckon? GeorgePing! 12:09, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Great, any help would be brilliant. I condensed the storylines as much as I could at the beginning of this year, so I dont know if anything else is removable. But the 1995 exit is very slim. Problem with that is, the internet was very young back then, so news stories from this time are hard to come by, which is a shame because there would have been a lot of media coverage when Letitia quit, particularly as Susan Tully and Bill Treacher quit at about the same time, meaning three originals were going, leaving only Pauline, Ian and Kathy. Rain showed me that we can get free access to High Beam, so maybe that will have some stories when I get my password.
As well as that, I think there should be sections on Den's return possibly, as well as her marriage to Dennis Rickman. We might be able to incorporate a friendship with Michelle section too.GunGagdinMoan 15:27, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Leanne

Are you really going to leave the info about Danson's PCOS in Leanne's characterisation section? It has nothing to do with the character and should only warrant a brief mention in the casting section. I'm guessing you missed my comment about the issue here [1]? You also have a contraction that needs sorting ("wouldn't"). You've done some good work on the article though and it's good that it finally has move development info and sources. I may add some Nick info eventually from the Inside Soap's that I've got. - JuneGloom Talk 21:02, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Some are already uploaded - so watch out for that. I know Debbie Rush, Ryan Thomas and Tina O'Brien are already in Commons. Why did you create a sandbox for them Mario?Rain the 1 17:50, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah Rain I did sayy that some were uploaded as I was just flicking through but rather tired. I created a sandbox just so I could ask GSorby to upload them rather than telling him seperate links, etc. Just trying to make it easier for him I suppose. — M.Mario (T/C) 20:30, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Just to let you know, Ive renamed the sandbox to; User:M.Mario/sandbox:References & Images. — M.Mario (T/C) 20:46, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
You could just upload them when you find them seeings as the owners change licenses. It doesn't take long and there is a bot that does the work for you. Are you familiar with the bot? Those images you linked to, which are unfree, you should ask the owners if they are willing to release them into the commons.Rain the 1 21:10, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Dawn Swann

Hi GSorby.

It was actually me who did this edit, I forgot to login. I did it because I strongly disagreed of the statement claiming she was a "tart with a heart" character. I find this quite shocking, after all she was one of the reasons why Jase Dyer died and had an affair with Phil Mitchell whilst he was still with Shirley. So I couldn't understand it. But when I saw the source, I was interested, and I clicked on it. But I found out it was dead with a "404 File Not Found" error on it. See here: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_20080224/ai_n24347495/?tag=content;col1. So I thought I should delete the statement, as the source was no longer valid, and it was dead. So, I just don't know why my edit was reverted. Thanks. 777 — 19:43, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi 777. I reverted your edit because even though the source is dead, it was alive at some point and it can still be used. The reference does require the [dead link] template though. See WP:LINKROT for more information. GeorgePing! 20:08, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
But how was she a tart with a heart? I don't understand. 777 — 20:10, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
That is what a source has described her as. GeorgePing! 20:26, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Although it is a bit misleading to readers with a dead source though. 777 — 16:44, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

My 'disruptive editing'

I'd like to tackle you on this please. The Frank Butcher date of death, if you rewatch the episodes of March 31st and April 1st 2008 you will see they mention that he died two days previously. Also, with Tyler Moon in an episode earlier this year when Whitney had a pregnancy scare, he mentioned how he didn't want to be a father at 23, making his birth date 1989. I've been editing soap profiles for a long time and know the rules and regulations on false information etc. Alex250P (talk) 18:35, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Well you obviously haven't been working on them long enough. You should know by now that sourced information is a lot stronger than original research. If Tyler really did say that, then source the episode. GeorgePing! 18:41, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Lauren Branning

I was wondering if we could have a recent head shot of Jacqueline Jossa as Lauren and also a head shot of Madeline Duggan as Lauren instead of the one from WalfordWeb?

Alice DYK

Hey, as a user just pointed out that Jasmyn Banks DYK date was up today, I have taken the liberty to make a DYK for her. I created as I do not know when you will next be on, and we do not want it running out, as that will be a shame. Ive (obviously) listed you as the creator, and used this hook;

... that actress Jasmyn Banks, who currently plays Alice Branning in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, was working in a bar when the EastEnders bosses told Banks that she got the part?

I hope that it is okay, and I hate to pry, but it would be a shame if we missed out. Once again, sorry, but I hope you are okay with this, much congrats on the article. Oh, its located here. — M.Mario (T/C) 17:18, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Oh, yeah- did I say? Really sorry :) — M.Mario (T/C) 17:20, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
That's fine! I'm working on a draft for Alice atm and it's not far off done :) GeorgePing! 17:41, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Phew! Your sandbox for Alice looks great, however is it a tad bit early ;)- I would try to get Rose or Andrew done- Roe is leaving, and Andrew most likely is to be too. The only thing I would say about Alice, is that some of the storyline development is more a rehash of the storylines, so be carefull that your not repating yourself. Other than that, keep pumping out the articles! — M.Mario (T/C) 21:23, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Heads up!

Just to let you know the Jasmyn DYK has been confirmed, and will soon be moving to the queues. There was a few problems about the length of the article, so I just tried to expand it to fit the criteria. Also, I apologize for the unlinking of the words, and good luck n your next projects! — M.Mario (T/C) 18:43, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Subsequent issues

A few issues have caused the Jasmyn DYK to be put on hold, and these include the sourcing. There are some queries on the Talk:Jasmyn Banks page that we're hoping you can answer; if not, the DYK nomination will remain stalled. Thanks for any help you can give. Michael Moon

Hi, GSorby. A few minutes ago I just came across the Michael Moon article again, and I realised the main photo image wasn't really catching on. It seemed quite boring and uninformative, it doesn't really show the twisted type of Man this Moon really is. It's not a full face shot either. I would consider getting another photo of Michael, a better and clearer image. So it is more attracts readers in a more descriptive way. Thanks. 777 — 18:49, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

What do you think? 777 — 14:29, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
Well not really because Michael's personality has been described as creepy and slimy and that picture shows those two attributes well. GeorgePing! 17:42, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Sharon Watts/Rickman

Hi, GSorby. Earlier on I changed the name from Sharon Watts to Rickman for the reason being because according to the Eastenders Wiki profle she is still currently a Rickman because in the outside storyline Sharon Rickman hated her name Watts so she keeped it to Rickman and when Dennis Rickman died in 2005 she keeped the name. In the storyline dont you think that Chrissie Watts invaded the Watts Family and Den Watts son Dennis renamed himself Rickman? That is quite odd to answer really. From Quinser's 17/07/2012 18:28 : P.S If my name is red tipe it up on the search page and it would automaticlly come up to reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quinser's (talkcontribs) 17:29, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Katy Armstrong

Just to let you know that User:JoeWilliams72 copied all the info from your sandbox and recreated Katy's article. I've been cleaning the article up and had to remove the entire development section, so it can be rewritten. I believe JoeWilliams72 is in fact a sock, so I've opened an SPI. - JuneGloom Talk 22:09, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Just noticed Cora has a become a GA. I stand by my point about the word "said" being used too often throughout the article. It's used a total of 19 times, mostly in the reception section. It really needs some different synonyms to mix it up. - JuneGloom Talk 21:50, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know about Katie...I was no where near ready to split her off - I was just gathering as many sources as possible first...and I will sort Cora out now. GeorgePing! 22:18, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Den Watts and Michelle Fowler.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Den Watts and Michelle Fowler.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Well spotted with that edit I made, a case of the cursor not being where I thought it was thanks. Fraggle81 (talk) 12:09, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:HannahTointon188.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file that is not an image, sound file or video clip (e.g. a Word document or PDF file) that has no encyclopedic use.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. GeorgePing! 17:43, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

I know that you and I are not in good terms at this moments, but I think I can replace one of the images that you uploaded with a free image of John Partridge. It may not be a true representation to the fictional character, but I think one non-free image is enough, and free image is better than none. The first appearance, depicted in the section image, is not explicitly mentioned (WP:NFCC#8), and what difference would omitting just one image make? In other words, we can retain one of non-free image as an infobox image and an existing free image of an actor. I've already discussed this with Gungadin, so what do you say? --George Ho (talk) 14:46, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Pay attention, or risk looking foolish.

With regard to this edit, if you had paid attention to the dates, you'd notice that the edit in question was made a day before the discussion was joined by any of the Hollyoaks project team, and long before any kind of consensus had been reached.

Therefore your edit summary is quite inappropriate. Chaheel Riens (talk) 19:36, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

And? GeorgePing! 19:53, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, didn't think I'd actually have to spell it out. I thought you'd realise your error without any additional help: It would be civil to accept your mistake and apologise for an inappropriate edit summary that strongly suggests an editor was acting against a consensus reached on a talk page, when no such thing had happened at the time of the edit. (Or, if you believe your summary is accurate, please explain your reasoning - so we can all improve.)
The editor was acting in good faith, and from reading the discussion you referenced has taken pains to explain his actions - and accepted the change from Osborne to Hayton. You will note here that he reverted a clearly excessive edit to the page, yet made no change from Hayton to Osborne. Chaheel Riens (talk) 20:17, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
If I say sorry will you stop making such a big issue of something so pathetic? GeorgePing! 20:38, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
As I said on the very page you pointed me to - I take issue at being accused of falsehoods. So yes - apologise for your inaccuracy, and we'll leave it at that. I tell you what, as an act of good faith I've reverted this edit here. Chaheel Riens (talk) 21:30, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for updating Roxy and Shirley's pics. Any chance you can do Jay Brown's? It's over 2 years old and he's grown up a lot - and has been featured quite a lot in the last week or so. Also Tiffany Butcher's image dates to 2009, so as a child character, I'd definitely suggest updating her! I reckon we should update the child character photos more often than the adults because they change more quickly. What do you think? –anemoneprojectors– 16:49, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering what was wrong with the image I posted earlier. I tried to update it as the previous image was taken from over two years ago. It seems there are no good images so I was wondering if I could post an actual picture of her like Claire Devine's image. I've undone the edit to the article that removed it as this image is better quality than the one replacing it. GSorby do you have any idea why someone is replacing the images for the soap opera articles with poorer quality ones? 5 albert square (talk) 00:28, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi 5AS, thanks for reverting some of these. I think the user is uploading thinking that they need to be more recent but the images they're using are inferior quality and I think most of them should be reverted (i have done a few too). I wonder if we should try and use promo images for the current cast now as we seem to have had success with the rationale for keeping them in many other EE articles?GunGagdinMoan 00:46, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
I think it may be an idea. We've done that in articles before no problem 5 albert square (talk) 00:59, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
I really have no clue...maybe we could start using promotional images...Least we won't have to worry about people trying tp update it, as EastEnders only release promo images when a character arrives or if they look extremely different a few years down the line...I'll do a few and we can see what everyone thinks. A tag has been placed on File:Tina Carter.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 5 albert square (talk) 11:02, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Tina Carter

Hi

Just out of curiousity, is there any reason why you decided that this should not be used on Wikipedia? Your template didn't say so I'm more than a little confused as to why it's been replaced with another promotional image.--5 albert square (talk) 03:27, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

I look at it now, and I really don't know why! But they need to all be JPEG images...that's always been an OCD thing of mine. I will continue to update character's images with promotional ones, where available. George Sorby 18:06, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. It doesn't have to be a JPEG format though, other formats are allowed :). I don't know why but my computer insists on saving everything as PNG haha!--5 albert square (talk) 19:27, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about all the MFDs but I think you can tell from Category:Draft-Class EastEnders articles that there are some duplicate articles being created here. I'm just trying to wrangle them all together in the hopes it'll help someone. I also moved a page to Draft:Andrew Cotton from an inactive user so that it's at least being seen by someone rather than just dormant. I noticed that you have User:GSorby/Andrew Cotton just so you know. I'm not suggesting anything about which version should be live or active or whatever but I don't see the harm in these projects coordinating the character drafts together rather than separately (although I think it's also fair to allow for various drafts so users have their own workspaces). -- Ricky81682 (talk) 16:49, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
