Speedy deletion contested: TAFE East Coast[edit]

Hello G S Palmer. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of TAFE East Coast, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to schools. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 18:07, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Need info[edit]

Deep Breath Length[edit]

Whilst I don't have an official resource, after watching the leaked episode I can confirm it's duration of roughly 75 minutes. I say roughly due to the fact that the leaked episode has the opening and closing credits of series 7 episode "Nightmare in Silver" - Preceding unsigned comment added by Smakka13 (talk · contribs) at 15:29, 22 July 2014‎ (UTC)

 • @Smakka13: Thanks, and I appreciate your effort to keep encyclopedia up to date, but unfortunately that can't really go in the article: Wikipedia has a policy against original research, meaning essentially any information based on the observations or experience of an individual user. Too bad; hopefully the Beeb will confirm the length soon. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:38, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia Autopatrolled.svg

Hi G S Palmer, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Lord Roem ~ (talk) 06:10, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Renewable Energy[edit]

Hi, G S Palmer. Thank your for your help! Can you please add an disambiguation page in the article Renewable Energy? I tried, but wasn't successful, so I didn't save. Greetings from Germany, Andol (talk) 16:28, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

I hope that this is what you meant. If it isn't, just drop me another note. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 16:48, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
No, that was exactly what I wanted. Thank you! Andol (talk) 17:45, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Talk pages of redirects[edit]

Hi, as you can see here, there are almost 900 "redirect article" classes, meaning tens of thousands redirects tagged on their talk pages with a wikiproject banner. Articles must be redirects where appropriate. The talk pages can remain redlinked (if there is no appropriate wikiproject, some projects don't tag redirects) or should be tagged with the appropriate banner. Hope this explains why I reverted your revert. Happy editing! --Randykitty (talk) 12:35, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Creeklife.com[edit]

Hello GS Palmer

I sent a contested reply to the wikipeda talk page about creeklife.com

I hope you can review it and see that the promotion of the page creeklife.com is for the benifit of our watersheds in the USA, we wanted Creeklife to have a presence like Crowdrise or gofundme.com has on Wikipedia - nothing more. I am aware of the links that Creeklife has added to Wikipedia in the past, and this startup environmental website shot themselfs in the foot in doing so with WIkipedia, they are not SEO or Web folks , they are older guys with a love for nature and the outdoors and has a platform that people are talking about. Also I noticed a link to the founders name is active and no entry in Wikipedia, I can change that if that is also an issue? I I hope you can help his cause and allow his the page to stay on WIkipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuliaLEC (talkcontribs) 15:14, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Okay - for one thing, I wasn't aware of the incident you mention, so it didn't have any effect on my decision to tag the page for speedy deletion. Nor do I think that your page is overly promotional, though it has a few issues on that front that could stand working on. The basic problem is that the subject doesn't seem to have received enough coverage to show that they are important enough to have an entry on Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Notability (web) provides more detail on what factors are commonly required for an article about a website or web-based organization. I wish you luck with your cause, but sadly Wikipedia is not the place to promote awareness of it. We can only document it once it becomes notable. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:32, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

GS Palmer Thank you, Here are three press articles -> https://creeklife.com/press it is not much, but it does show intreset in the movment of Environmental Stewardship and their causes but they are not like a indigogo in that resepect, yet. thanks for the feedback — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuliaLEC (talkcontribs) 15:40, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

 • Are you the above IP editor? I guessed that that might be the case...
Do I want to be your mentor? If you're being serious, then no, I'm afraid not... but if I'm happy to help in any way I can. I'm sorry if my comment about your being in violation of your ban hurt your feelings, but it was only in the interest of trying to keep you from getting blocked, which seems like a likely outcome if you continue to violate the ban. I don't have anything against you personally, and I hope that you don't feel that is the case. I wish you good luck with your break and hope that you get well soon. CSD nominations[edit]

You nominated several categories for speedy deletion as G5, but did not include a link to demonstrate that the editor was banned or blocked. That may be why they are sitting unaddressed.--S Philbrick(Talk) 11:03, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

@Sphilbrick: Sorry about that: the diff is this: [1]. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 12:29, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
 • P.S. I'm not aware of any way to include a diff in the CSD template: if there is and I just don't know about it, could you tell me what it is? Thanks. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 12:32, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Holy cow, that editor asked me to be a mentor yesterday.--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:33, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Hot Nigga[edit]

Ok, I went to bed and when I come back ~I see my article has been deleted. You've not even given me time to try to explain or to improve it! I thought that once a song charted it could have an article... --Sofffie7 (talk) 06:54, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

 • Hi Sofffie7. I'm sorry that your article got deleted. It's just that almost all singles aren't considered notable enough unless the person who performs them has an article of their own on Wikipedia, which Hot Nigga did not. As you probably know, this qualifies them for speedy deletion under criteria A9 of the speedy deletion policy. Of course, there are always exceptions, and if you believe "Hot Nigga" is one of those, then you can attempt to have it restored, either by the deleting admin (Bbb23), or by filing a request at WP:UNDELETE. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 23:24, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
 • Sofffie7 has gotten around the A9 problem by creating an article about the singer: Bobby Shmurda. That article has not been tagged, nor do I have an opinion as to its notability, either A7 (low) or AfD (higher). Therefore, I have restored the single article as it's no longer eligble for WP:CSD#A9.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:47, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
 • Oh no I did not know that at first, otherwise I would have created an article for the artist first and then for his song, sorry I did it the wrong way. I only understood there had to be a page about the singer too when I clicked on the then-deleted article and saw Bbb23's edit summary ;) If you feel none of the articles fit the criteria then I would understand someone tags them for afd. Also I apologize for the tone of my first message. I have never had an article deleted that quickly. Although I have been on wikipedia for several years now, I am still not familiar with all the rules. Thanks Bbb23 for restoring the article even though you are not convinced by its notability lol. Anyway, have a good evening. --Sofffie7 (talk) 19:14, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
 • Actually, Sofffie7, I patrol CSD a great deal, and part of the problem is it's rare for a song article without an article about the singer to be otherwise notable. Very few of that kind of article are created by experienced editors. What that means is that if there's no singer article, I have always deleted it (they're usually just one sentence, and if it's an album, the track listing). Honestly, I should have looked more carefully at the article before deleting it because, in retrospect, it was quite different from the usual. So, as long as we're trading apologies, I apologize for that. All's well that ends well. Good luck.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:52, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Removal of Carlos D. Bustamante[edit]

Hi, I just received a notification that the page I created was deleted. Now when I click on Carlos D. Bustamante (Population Geneticist, Stanford) the page is directed to Carlos (J.) Bustamante (Scientist, Berkeley). They are definitely two different people. A side effect of this redirection, is that Wikipedia's page on the MacArthur Fellowship program now links Carlos D. Bustamante's entry (who won the prize in 2010) with Carlos J. Bustamante above, which is clearly wrong.

The notice of removal states that it is not clear why the article is important. I thought being awarded a MacArthur fellowship would be enougth criteria for creating a Wikipedia page? The MacArhur page lists 756 people who have won the fellowship, all have Wikipedia pages except for 27 of them (and almost all of those without Wikipedia pages are relatively recent winners).

About new page of Shraddha Sharma[edit]

Hi, I created page of an internet celebrity. May I know why page was deleted? You can check out person YouTube channel or Facebook page, or even on Times of India as person is in news from few years. The person is famous enough to have information on Wikipedia, as I have less pages of people with less significance. Please let me know. Thank You. Ashishbirajdar (talk) 15:43, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

@Ashishbirajdar: The person may be famous, however, the article about them failed to show that the subject met Wikipedia's notability guideline for biographies. I would also like to note that both Shraddha sharma and the correct title Shraddha Sharma have been deleted multiple times, so it may not be just an issue with the article, but an inherent issue of the notability of the subject. How can i do that????[edit]

I am the guy who created Emiliano Ellacopulos page, but i don't know how to add references and your instructions are not able to help me, because my english is not so good. How can i do that???? Please help.ManuelGReEk (talk) 14:44, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi ManuelGReEk, all you need to do is find some sources that mention him and back up the claims in the article, and then cite them. If they are online, just take the URL and insert it into the text with tags around it. (Offline, print source are allowed too). This will make it appear as a reference in the references section. Help:Referencing for beginners provides more comprehensive details. If you have any more questions I'll be happy to answer them (to the best of my ability). G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 14:56, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

 • Hi OriginalWriter11. The only reason I nominated your page for speedy deletion is because it appeared that you requested it (by blanking the page). However, if you still want to work on it, you might find Template:Infobox sportsperson to be a useful way to organize the information you need to present.
Also, before recreating the article, be sure to find some WP:SOURCES for the article to prevent it from being quickly tagged for deletion. You should also take a look at Wikipedia's notability guideline for athletes to make sure the subject meets the criteria. Good luck! G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 16:39, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

help in signature[edit]

i have a problem with signature. when i sign something there is no link to may name. can you help me? it is like this: --m,sharaf 12:23, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

@Mehdi ghaed: why don't you try pasting m,sharaf (talk) into the signature bar of your preferences. It should render as m,sharaf (talk). That should do the trick. Or if you prefer that it stay looking exactly as it does now, but still want the links, (and are willing to do something a little bit more fancy) you could try <span style="color:#353535">m</span>,<span style="color:#353535">sharaf</span> which will render as m,sharaf. Series 8 Doctor Who Episodes[edit]

When should we add them? Soccersalvatore (talk) 20:45, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

@Soccersalvatore: Personally, I'd wait until two weeks before the airdate, or until the episode starts to get significant coverage in independent sources. At the very least we should wait until the airdate for the episode is known. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 21:24, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Mycocepurus castrator[edit]

Hi again, sorry I did not see your edit summary indicating that you were going to come back and make some expansions to Mycocepurus castrator. Seeing that the species hit the news a few days ago, I expanded the article with a few sentences. I'll stay away from the article for a while if you intend to expand it further. It is an interesting species nevertheless. Cheers, jonkerztalk 15:23, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

@Jonkerz: It is interesting! Sadly, I don't have access to the original article - I notice that you do quite a bit of work in ant-related articles, and I thought it might be worth asking if you do? G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:32, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Unfortunately I do not, but it is quite possible that a PDF of the article will pop up on the species page on AntCat in the following weeks. As you probably have already noticed, it is a somewhat open secret that most ant-related academic articles, including articles published in Current Biology, can be found on AntCat :) If I stumble upon the article online, I'll send you a link. jonkerztalk 15:50, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Quick update: it is possible to use Google cache to read the article online. jonkerztalk 15:53, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
@Jonkerz: Thank you: that was very helpful. The article is now, for all intents and purposes, Yes check.svg Done. I intend to go through the less academic sources I can find and use them to back up the text, so as to make it easier to verify for those without subscriptions. If you have any thoughts/suggestions about the article, I'd love to hear them. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:44, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
Very nice article, well done! I chipped in with a few tweaks; mainly, I tried to summarize the article in the lead. All the best, jonkerztalk 21:00, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────If you're interested in expanding other Mycocepurus species or the main article, you can copy content (as long as it is attributed) from this open access article by Mackay et al. (2004) PDF, published in Journal of Insect Science. The article is not very long, only 7 pages, but there's enough material to expand at least a few stubs. jonkerztalk 17:08, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Jakub Romanowski[edit]

Hello G S Palmer. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jakub Romanowski, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:35, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Declined speedy[edit]

I declined the speedy for International Youth Society of Eco-Friendly and Renewable Technology (which was formerly IYSERT ORGANISATION) because the two newspaper articles were just enough to barely squeak by A7. I have serious, serious doubts about its notability but there's just enough there that if someone wanted to contest the A7, they could. I'm doing a search for sources, but offhand I have a feeling that I'll probably nominate this one for AfD myself. I'm also somewhat concerned about the SPAs, but I think that this is a case of meatpuppetry rather than sockpuppetry. I'll have a look at Rakesh Biswas as well, since I don't really see where he's particularly noteworthy as well. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:46, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Tegulae[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Tegulae requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. I have more time on the weekends so I thought this would be the best time to go ahead and incorporate this into the relevant areas.~Technophant (talk) 18:45, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

@Technophant: Well, I didn't want you to lose all your work. However, before moving it back, please do bring it up somewhere and see what the community reaction is. It might even be that consensus has changed, and an article on the person could now be safely created. It seems like a possibility, since a redirect from their name has avoided deletion since the 9th. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 18:52, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Ok, but where? Would you be willing to move it back to mainspace and having a regular AfD?~Technophant (talk) 19:26, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Also, the aid worker is mentioned in several articles on the topic. There doesn't seem to a community consensus to remove this article. If it suppression a high priority then Oversight would have started to revdeleted this information, posted a response to a talk page, or responded to me by now.~Technophant (talk) 20:38, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
@Technophant: An AfD would only decide whether to delete it from mainspace or not: as of this moment, it hasn't even been decided if it is fit for mainspace. Possible venues could include starting an RfC, or starting another thread on Jimbo's talk page; the latter would definitely get plenty of attention, and would probably be the best way to decide consensus on whether the embargo on the prisoners name has ended. I started a thread at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#2013 Islamic State kidnapping of British aid worker. I do think it should be RFC. Please move this to most appropriate place and start an RFC. Ty.~Technophant (talk) 22:04, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Also, in case you haven't noticed I changed some information at Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2014_September_5#Steven_Sotloff. I think this image, and others like it should be included in the discussion. I don't think it will be long before the folks at ISIS media department will start releasing their media with CC-BY and we need to discuss what is appropriate to be included in Commons and Source. The website archive.org has become a favorite place for them to post their videos and some of them are labled as PD. They do get removed, but not as vigilantly as on Youtube or Twitter.~Technophant (talk) 22:10, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Can I just go ahead and split the article? It looks very strange as is.~Technophant (talk) 03:09, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

@Technophant: I wouldn't - I think the article looks good how it is, especially after the cleanup by Masem. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 12:46, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
Ok. I removed the split section template.~Technophant (talk) 21:08, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
