Greetings[edit]

Hi there Sjones23. It's been a while. I just wanted to say hi since it's been long we worked together. I'm currently working in Yakuza (video game) and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2. I managed to make Yu Narukami a GA thanks to User:KirtZJ and I'm currently nominating Kira Yamato to make it GA. Anyways, if you have any doubt ask me. I hope we'll work in another article together. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 21:07, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, Tintor2. Having gone through a semi-retirement back in August 2013, I'm currently busy due to my ongoing wikibreak. I'll see what I can do to help. By the way, I am also thing about working on List of High School DxD characters and List of High School DxD episodes. Do you mind if we work on those together? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 05:00, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
I have no knowledge of that series so I can't do much about them. Anyway, thanks for the proposal.Tintor2 (talk) 13:24, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Re: Sonic Adventure[edit]

Well, go ahead and improve it when you have time, I guess. I might get over there eventually but it's not on my priority list. The GAR (which I think I closed a little hastily, as czar said, though it wouldn't be appropriate to reopen it) details what needs to be done. What I think is the most important is to significantly expand Reception, to basically rewrite Gameplay so that it's more comprehensive, and to add 1-2 screenshots that better represent the actual gameplay. It's not a terrible article by any means, and you definitely improved it a lot during your push for it to become a GA; I just think it needs more work. Tezero (talk) 02:11, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

You can, but it's not the most active task force around (Red Phoenix and I are about the only currently consistently active editors on it). I'd suggest taking it to WT:VG, where I frequently cart my Sonic-related questions. Of course, someone may point out that my suggestions are stupid and make other ones; that's fine too, if they have good reasons. Tezero (talk) 02:17, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Quick question[edit]

Thank you for your recent additions to Star Wars Episode VII, especially the note about billing order (that's always an issue). Question though, where did you get the descriptions? Are those just the current status of each character as they were last seen in Episode VI? I wanted to ask you before removing. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:46, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Yes, they are the current status for each character. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:56, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Cool. Just checking. (Haven't seen Ep VI in a bit so my memory was lacking.) Mainly here to give thanks! - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:59, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 April newsletter[edit]

Round 3 of the 2014 WikiCup has just begun; 32 competitors remain. Pool G's Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Round 2's highest scorer, with a large number of featured picture credits. In March/April, he restored star charts from Urania's Mirror, lithographs of various warships (such as SMS Gefion) and assorted other historical media. Second overall was Pool E's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), whose featured list Silver certificate (United States) contains dozens of scans of banknotes recently promoted to featured picture status. Third was Pool G's United States ChrisGualtieri (submissions) who has produced a large number of good articles, many, including Falkner Island, on Connecticut-related topics. Other successful participants included Rhodesia Cliftonian (submissions), who saw three articles (including the top-importance Ian Smith) through featured article candidacies, and Washington, D.C. Caponer (submissions), who saw three lists (including the beautifully-illustrated list of plantations in West Virginia) through featured list candidacies. High-importance good articles promoted this round include narwhal from Canada Reid, iain james (submissions), tiger from Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and The Lion King from Minas Gerais Igordebraga (submissions). We also saw our first featured topic points of the competition, awarded to Nepal Czar (submissions) and Indiana Red Phoenix (submissions) for their work on the Sega Genesis topic. No points have been claimed so far for good topics or featured portals.

192 was our lowest qualifying score, again showing that this WikiCup is the most competitive ever. In previous years, 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) or 100 (2010) secured a place in Round 3. Pool H was the strongest performer, with all but one of its members advancing, while only the two highest scorers in Pools G and F advanced. At the end of June, 16 users will advance into the semi-finals. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. List of Heaven's Lost Property episodes[edit]

Thank you for helping me with some of the editing on this page. I see that you keep reverting actual necessary edits that you believe are not. I do apologize for some grammar, and I thank you for correcting them, which is appreciated. I am editing as I watch this show, so I am doing my best to make it more concise than "overdone". The links will remain there as needed, the grammar can be proofread though

AnimeEditor (talk) 05:36, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

I commend you for your changes. I apologize for the mistakes I had made I was reverting. Please do not be deterred from editing Wikipedia. However, there are some overlinking issues. I think that we should link only on first occurrences for example. If you like, you may want to discuss this matter over at Talk:List of Heaven's Lost Property episodes#Article concerns. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 05:41, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
I've always "relinked" names of characters mentioned from the first season to the second season in many different anime episode related pages. Grammar-wise, I am impressed; links to other pages or to the names of characters (from the first or from the second season) is convenient, which is why I do so. Other than that, I won't revert everything back from what you did, just the characters' names.

AnimeEditor (talk) 05:48, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

I see your point about the links now. If that's the case then, I have now restored the character links and previous episode summaries to the list, while retaining some of my edits to the article. Hope this resolves everything. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 05:51, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Ah, that's great with graduate school. I just graduated with two baccalaureate degrees and am looking at graduate school now. I haven't been terribly active as of late, as well. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 23:03, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
Me too. By the way, I'm thinking about working on a couple of Star Wars articles (namely, the film series to FA status again). Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:09, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
I have looked over the films and though it may take quite the bit of work, I definitely think it's doable. In fact, the first six movies could qualify for a Good Topic. However, there would be complications with that aspiration, as Episode VII will not even be possible for GA status until 2016. But, I feel like investing in the quality of the Star Wars pages is a good objective. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 18:39, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Manga and anime spellings[edit]

Need your thoughts on the latest incarnations of Talk:Attack_on_Titan#Jaeger_vs_Yeager. While I support using the manga spelling on the main page, some of the folks on there don't even want the anime spellings mentioned at all on the character or anime page, which doesn't make sense. I cited the Hody/Hordy Jones example. -AngusWOOF (talk) 02:46, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Sailor Moon (anime)?[edit]

Should we make a special page so that we know it could suffice? One of the things about splitting anime and manga, is that some subsequent media would be more anime-related than manga, such as CDs and Audio Drama sequels. Lucia Black (talk) 23:10, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Yes. I think that will work. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:25, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
Here is the link: User:Lucia Black/Sailor Moon (anime), i just made that very quickly, the "broadcast" will probably have to be modified aswell, and use information directly from Sailor Moon (English adaptations) but other than that, it looks like a strong candidate. WikiCup 2014 June newsletter[edit]

After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.

The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to Florida 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Bartošovice v Orlických horách Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions).

The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. List of High School DxD characters[edit]

I need some more help with List of High School DxD characters. There's a ton of verbiage added by recent IP but a lot of it seems like cruft to me. Granted it is fair that more details from the light novels are now available, but it still needs paring down. I did what I could with the first half of the protagonists and have commented out other sections. Also if you know of other editors who love to trim the cruft, feel free to ask. Thanks. -AngusWOOF (talk) 04:24, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. I think we should also clean up the List of Sailor Moon characters article as well. We may need to add a themes section for Sailor Moon as well. I'm working on a episode listing for Sailor Moon Crystal as well. Can you help out? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 04:49, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Would it make more sense and convenient that the characters are place in order of family names and groups? Just want to see how to not make so much space.

Hi. I think minor characters belonging to guilds should be merged into their respective sections, but characters would have to be discussed if we should cover it in a section of its own. I think we should take this matter up to the talk page. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:56, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Firearm in Elfen Lied[edit]

Sorry me for my question, why you reverted my edits at the page List of Elfen Lied characters. You say, that IMFDB isn't reliable source? Why? It's a biggest database of the firearms in movies. And, if this source are really reliable, may I re add this information, but removing links? 188.123.253.79 (talk) 19:12, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

IMFDB is a wiki and is not considered a reliable source and firearms in character articles are usually trivial information. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 20:01, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
So, may I add this information without links to IMFDB? 213.87.139.227 (talk) 05:17, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive[edit]

Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!

TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.

If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.

At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.

As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

GA Cup[edit]

Hello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!

As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:

For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.

For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).

The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

WikiCup 2014 August newsletter[edit]

The final of the 2014 WikiCup begins in a few short minutes! Our eight finalists are listed below, along with their placement in Round 4:

  1. Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer, finished top of Pool A and was the round's highest scorer. Godot is a featured picture specialist, claiming large numbers of points due to high-quality scans of historical documents, especially banknotes.
  2. Scotland Casliber (submissions) is a WikiCup veteran, having been a finalist every year since 2010. In the semi-final, he was Pool B's highest scorer. Cas's points primarily come from articles on the natural sciences.
  3. Nepal Czar (submissions) was Pool A's runner-up. Czar's points come mostly from content related to independent video games, including both articles and topics.
  4. Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Pool B's runner-up. Another featured picture specialist, many of Adam's points come from the restoration of historical media. He has been a WikiCup finalist twice before.
  5. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) won the WikiCup in 2012 and 2013, and enters this final as the first wildcard. She focuses on biology-related articles, and has worked on several high-importance articles.
  6. Florida 12george1 (submissions) is the second wildcard. George's points come primarily from meteorology-related articles. This year and last year, George was the first person in the competition to score.
  7. Colorado Sturmvogel 66 (submissions), the third wildcard, was the 2010 champion and a finalist last year. His writes mostly on military history, especially naval history.
  8. Canada Bloom6132 (submissions), the fourth and final wildcard, has participated in previous WikiCups, but not reached any finals. Bloom's points are mostly thanks to did you knows, featured lists and good articles related to sport and national symbols.

We say goodbye to this year's semi-finalists. Herm Matty.007 (submissions), Ohio ThaddeusB (submissions), United States WikiRedactor (submissions), Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), Greece Yellow Evan (submissions), Portugal Prism (submissions) and Bartošovice v Orlických horách Cloudz679 (submissions) have all performed well to reach this stage of the competition, and we hope they will all be joining us again next year.

There are two upcoming competitions unrelated to the WikiCup which may be of interest to those who receive this newsletter. The Stub Contest will run through September, and revolves around expanding stub articles, especially high-importance or old stubs. In addition, a proposal has been made for a new competition, the GA Cup, which the organisers plan to run next year. This competition is based on the WikiCup and aims to reduce the good article review backlog.

There is now a thread for brainstorming on how next year's WikiCup competition should work. Please come along and share your thoughts- What works? What doesn't work? What needs changing? Signups for next year's competition will be open soon; we will be in touch. If, at this stage of the competition, you are keen to help the with the WikiCup, please do what you can to participate in review processes. Our finalists will find things much easier if the backlogs at good article candidates, featured article candidates, featured picture candidates and the rest are kept at a minimum. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Re: Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII[edit]

I'm all for it, though I will probably not be a very active contributor (says he). I think I'll just be there to help with tidy-ups and such. To be honest, I'm still feeling tired from recent stuff: I've been doing major work on Final Fantasy Type-0 (which I'll definitely make an FA one day) and Final Fantasy Agito (the latter was bloody difficult as I needed to add both release dates for episodes and the English titles featured on the title cards), successfully finished a hectic GA nomination for a series article, am slowly preparing the ground for another article for that series, and am preparing myself for taking Lightning's article to FA review (when a suitable time with no substantial changes has passed, then hoping it goes as smoothly as my nomination of Drakengard).

Despite this, I think you can count on me to keep an eye on things and try to address any problems raised by reviewers quickly. Call me when you're going to nominate it. I still haven't seen any references or news about the game's total sales, but I somehow doubt we ever will. In the mean time, I think we should keep our eyes on both Type-0 and Final Fantasy XV as TGS approaches. I know there's nothing official (when is there for games like these), I'm feeling subtly confident about this event, although that could all turn to dust and ashes... again. ;) --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:32, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles - GA Cup[edit]

WikiProject Good Articles's 2014-15 GA Cup
Symbol support vote.svg

WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers.

Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition.

Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges.

Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan.
