Madhavan's page & pictures[edit]

Hello, Thamizhan, I noticed your contributions to the Madhavan article. I removed the pictures you added again for several reasons: a) One pciture besides the main one is okay to show how he looks in his movies -- three are much to many, his article isn't even that long. It's an encyclopaedic article and not a fanpage. If you want to add more pictures, take Shahrukh Khan`s article as an example: There, we have three pictures: one, how he looks like now, the second how he looked like than years ago and one of him on the cover of a wolrd renowned magazine. If you have pictures (with copyright information) of Madhavan how he looked ten years ago or him featured on the India Times (Gossp Magazines don't count), why don't you add those? b) most of the picture violate copyrights. You have to find out who is copyright holder of the pictures (producer, distributor, production company - pick one of those). It's not enugh to simply tell from which movie they are and where you got them.

If you need any help with finding copyright information, don't hesitate and ask me. Best regards, --Plumcouch 19:40, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vijay pic[edit]

Hi, Thamizhan, just noticed you replaced the Vijay picture in the actor-box on the upper right side of the article. Erm, problem is: I think those pictures on actor articles, especially, the very first one within the box should enable people to identify the actor. Currently, all I identify is the big, yellow bike Vijay is sitting on. Think you could find a pic which is more about his face? --Plumcouch 17:38, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture and filmography[edit]

Hello, Thamizhan, the picture you uploaded to Ajith Kumar's article is violating copyright. There are notes within the picture's page which describe what the copyright violation entails. Copyright violation is taken very serious here at Wikipedia, so please stop adding the picture.

Also, please refrain from adding co-stars to the filmography. If you compare featured articles, like Eric Bana or Lindsay Lohan, you'll notice that they don't list their co-stars either. Those belong into the movies' articles. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 17:41, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pokiri and Pokkiri[edit]

Hi, Pokiri is the spelling of the Telugu film and Pokkiri is the spelling of the tamil film (official titles; for Tamil film, see the official website as well). So, I'll delete the Pokiri, currently a disambiguation page and move the telugu film article there. I'll also move the tamil film article to Pokkiri. Pl. let me know if you have any objections. TIA, --Gurubrahma 12:49, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamil film stubs[edit]

Hey, nice to see you adding plenty of good stubs to the Wikipedia. Could you do me one favour, use {{Film-stub}} instead of {{stub}} because I'm stub-sorting and replacing all your stubs! Cheers! Budgiekiller 10:08, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Swathi and other actresses/actors[edit]

Sorry for putting a CSD template on her, since she appears to be notable. When creating your pages, though, would you be able to provide a bit more context on each actor/actress you're writing up. To someone like me who doesn't know a thing about Indian cinema in any language, they look non-notable and context-less when you write them up that quickly. Noted roles -- Ajith Kumar[edit]

Hello, Thamizhan, about those noted roles:

  1. first of all, everyone has a different idea what roles of an actor are "notable" -> so in order to prevent people from adding more and more of them, just cut them.
  2. Also, none of the actor articles that reached featured status (see Katie Holmes or Linday Lohan) at Wikipedia have a list of "noted roles" and generally, featured articles should be taken as an example for all the articles that aren't so comprehensive.
  3. What has "noted roles" to do with "being a serious actor"? Kumar has stayed for some years in the industry, got popular, got several awards and has it's own production company -- I don't think one has to prove that he's a serious actor with "notable roles" given Kumar's achievements so far. Furthermore WP is not here to prrove anything, but merely to state facts.
  4. POV sections should always be deleted as they ar enot neutral.

A tag has been placed on Abbas (actor), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Abbas (actor) is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Abbas (actor). Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable. --Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 11:57, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Box office Records info[edit]

Hi Thamizhan, I read many articles by u such as something something unnakam ennakam, vettaiyaadu vilaiyaadu, ghilli, and many more. I am not sure if it is u or not that is keep on adding false news about box office records info. if it is u, give a citation of where u got those records from. this is unreasonable. how can ghilli make more than Rs. 600 million?? only chandramukhi and Pokiri are the only 2 films which crossed the 40 crore mark. Please fix to all those sites u gave wrong information about or give a URL. Thanks a lot.--Arjun1591 12 September 2006

Jyothika[edit]

You've moved the Jyothika Sadanah article twice now. Would you happen to have any references to the fact that she changed her surname? I didn't see any news item to that effect. Thanks!

Hi Thamizhan. I appreciate your effort towards adding more content related to Kollywood. However, the Reema Sen image is copyrighted and can used under fair use only to illustrate the poster and not the person. Madhavan (noted roles)[edit]

Hello, Thamizhan,

about Madhavan's notable roles: what qualifies them as "notable"? Isn't it a point of view if a role or a movie is notable? As for being friends with Aamir Khan and rest: could your cite a source? And it's not important if a courting was committed - how do you know that? They married - isn't that the only thing which is important? Box Office Info[edit]

Hello Thamizhan

I thought i told you earlier that don't give false box office records and info unless you give a URL or a website. How in the world can Something Something Unakkam Enakkam gross 20 crores on opening day?????? Not even Bollywood blockbusters grossed that much. Please fix all the articles you have screwed up so that other viewers on Wikipedia will not be given false information.

Thanks,

Whoa Whoa!![edit]

I did not leave you any threat. I only told you to fix any articles by deleting the box office info or provide any URL supporting your edit. I did not leave you a threat for your information. Also i did not leave any pornographic picture. you can clearly see on other articles more explict than this. It is a still of Anusha from the film Super. If that bothers you, tell me so that i can change it. Last of all, why should i leave wikipedia? i am not harming anybody. wikipedia is my hobby and i love to spend my time on it. Hello, Thamizhan, about the "dubbed movies". I tried to insert the filmography without costars, and directors, as none of the featured actor pages include these. I tried to remove all dubbed movies which I recognized as such, but apparantly, I have not succeded. If I add the cleared filmography again, would you just remove the dubbed movies I have missed? COTW candidacy (R.Madhavan)[edit]

This is with reference to the copyright laden images of cine artists. It is really nice to see more related images in the articles. However the following guidelines would help you to get the better off the images you are uploading...

  • You don't have to save a digital copyrighted image from an official website. A decent digital photo of a newspaper clipping or a glossy magazine would make sure it is not copyrighted and you can personally realease them into public domain. And focus on the upper torso for the main image, leaving out the clutter behind.
  • The photos doesn't have to be very recent or from a recent film. Because, we are identifying the actor, not the actor in the film.
  • Since those article pages can be considered as biographies, you can add more photos taken at different ages, so that it could depict their schooling or their parents. Remember, an artist's life doesn't start from the date he/she acted in films. Its from birth to death. It is true that getting information beyond the public life is tough, but that is why we are here for... to tackle it and provide a comprehensive NPOV approach.
  • Cite as much articles you can. But it is not good to cite if the article says that the artist is the smartest hunk or sweetest beauty. Unless of course, if we can find if that artist had won significant awards like Miss India or Mr India, it is better to avoid those descriptions mentioned above.

Best wishes. I'll try to butt in, whenever i can. ;) -- Chez (Discuss / Email) • 23:22, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry[edit]

I'm really sorry about complaining about you to Yamla, but I requested an explanation as to why you kept reverting the page but you gave me nothing of the such. If that was the case, you should have just removed those sections from the article. Besides, I think the reader of that respective page has the right to know what the main actor or actress might be playing in the movie. Whatever's happenned, I truly am sorry for doing that. Next time, I will voice my complaints to you first before taking it somewhere else. Apologies. --Hariharan91 04:17, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kamal Hassan[edit]

Hello Thamizhan, thanks a ton for the Barnstar. It's really appreciated. I agree about imroving Kamal Hassan's article - he *is* such a famous actor in India and definitely deserves to become featured. However, there is much to do on his article. I suggest the following:

  1. A picture with proper copyright status. (The one on his article does not cite copyright holder or source - and does he always look like this?)
  2. A filmography, which also notes his roles (but not his co-stars and directors: all of the featured articles of actors don't have those.)
  3. More references, if possible from sources like TimesOfIndia.com, BBC, Sify or Rediff. Those seem to be relatively gossip-free.
  4. Kick the Noughts. He has played in lots of great and famous movies, but no featured article has "Noughts" on them. To stay neutral, I suggest we leave any judgement about his abilities out. It's up to readers to judge about that.
  5. I suggest to take the articles of Katie Holmes or Diane Keaton as role models: both of them have been featured, include lots of references and are quite neutral.

What do you think? Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 13:40, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correcting your user page[edit]

Nice to see that you are getting more awards. You deserve these for your dedication and commitment towards enriching wikipedia contents.

"Leave me a message" in your user page takes to talk page of your old user name and even message left there is not getting reflected in your user pages.(Do you have any specific reason to retain it in that way?) Can you correct that to point to your user name. --Indianstar 03:38, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Prince: Thank you for taking interest in the Wikipedia article of Ilaiyaraaja. He certainly has made a lot of wonderful music. I added yesterday a whole new section to the article dedicated to Ilaiyaraaja song clips. I wonder if you could kindly check and see if the clips works on your computer, and if they sound clear and nice. I would also like you to tell me what you think about the song clips there. About Ajanta, it is really interesting to know that the maestro has composed 36 songs altogether for the project. It is quite an achievement. I think the statements that you added about this would more perfectly fit into a separate article on the film Ajanta. Maybe you can create it. I believe the interesting information you provided would best belong there. I truly appreciate you helping me with improving the Ilaiyaraaja article. I hope we can together make it into a Feature Article someday! (It is already an A-class article). AppleJuggler 01:20, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Nomination: Abhay[edit]

An editor has nominated the article Abhay for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abhay. Add four tildes like this ~~~~ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Abhay during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Varalaru - History of Godfather[edit]

Hello, Prince Godfather, I'm currently trying to imrpove Varalaru - History of Godfather - however I haven't seen the movie and I don't know Ajith Kumar's films very well; maybe you can help - so far the summary is still kinda messed up. Also, there are notes of a German release (among others) on that page - I didn't know Kumar's films are shown in Germany - do you have information on that or suggestion on how to verify that claim? (I have my doubts - earlier, it was written that the film got a "PG"-rating in Germany, however Germany rates with the FSK-System and not with the academy of motion pictures-system). Maybe you can have a look? Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 22:15, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Prince Godfather,
no, unfortunately, I haven't seen Jeans and neither Godfather, however I wish I had, so I don't know anything about the plot. I'll look around the 'net - maybe, some review sites or Amazon write something about it. And about that Germany-release; it would be most unfortunate if Godfather would really have been released there, because in that case I WOULD HAVE MISSED IT!! Thanks for your swift reply, best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 00:18, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you really have to do this?[edit]

Did you really have to do what you did to Ganguly family (films)? In you haste to reinstate a blatantly copyvio gallery, which was earlier removed from the article, you removed painstakingly sourced and rationalized images of the subject. Now those images have been deleted from database for being orphaned. And, in doing so you also reinstated loads of mis-spellings that other editors have corrected bit by bit.

Did you really have to do it? All that from a winner of all those barnstars and a protector against vandalism! I am surprised, pained and really shocked. Could you, please, explain your behavior to my talk page? Aditya Kabir 13:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You said "Excuse me, but it was your images that were Copyvio, the gallery being their was fine! Duh. Understand the situation before you open it!"
You really mean that? Haven't you noticed that you did not create a new gallery, but reinstated an older one already removed for copyvio reasons. That "fine" gallery has been removed once again for the same reason. And, how can you say "my images" were copyvio? Have you or anyone else ever reported them as such? And, how does your statement explain your reinstating a lot of mis-spelling for no apparent reason? Please, I'd like to understand all that from someone more experience than I. Aditya Kabir 14:28, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. So, you're not interested in explanations. Sorry about that request then. Well, I didn't believe you have an explanation anyways. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 16:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MOSLOW (Filmography)[edit]

I think it would be a good Idea not to use WP:LOW form for Bollywood actors and basically for all actors because People prefer it to be vice-versa compared to the format it is following now and I did read the section regarding Filmography in WP:LOW and it doesnt say anything about that method applying for Films. When new Films are added new users and anons find it hard to add it to the list because they dont know how to and I have just finished Fixing the Filmography section for Shah Rukh Khan. Somebody should fix this problem as soon a possible becoz it is slowly by slowly becoming a problem..Cheers..--Cometstyles 16:08, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Shriyanew.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shriyanew.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 23:36, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ishaa Koppikar article[edit]

Hi

I've noticed that you and me seem to be making a lot of edits to the article on Ishaa Koppikar. Rather than keep cancelling each others' work out maybe it would be better to agree on a few things so that we can make this article 100%.

I've got a few suggestsions, which I want to run by you to see what you think.

1 - Let's keep the unreleased films in the filmography and state that they're unreleased. Anyone wanting to know what films Ishaa has made need to know the unreleased ones as well as the released ones and so long as it's made clear what the film's status is there should be no mix ups.

2 - Can we clarify once and for all that the main image on the article is not from Don. It's on the cover of my Dharma the Warrior dvd, bought from Nehaflix. I know dvds can be released years after the film comes out, but I've seen that image on the internet long before Don was being promoted.

3 - The main article text needs a tidy up. No changes, just a few alterations to make it read smoother: eg The film, shot in London and Chenai, became a commercial blockbuster on release and won the lead actors rave reviews. That kind of thing.

4 - If Qayamat is a noteable role (nominated Best Vilain), shouldn't Kyaa Kool Hai Hum be a notable role too (nominated Best Comedy performance) rather than Don.

Let me know what you think.

Blatent falsifying of copyright info.[edit]

You added copyright info to this image,[3] Which is blatently copyied from this image [4]

The 'reply' from the company is just too similar to be anything other than a copy and paste. Do you have any explanation. GameKeeper 16:10, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am investigating this matter with the source website. If it turns out that you have fraudulently falsified this information, we will take serious and immediate steps against you. Such an action would be absolutely inexcusable and at the very least, would likely result in a permanent ban from editing the Wikipedia. Note also that Wikipedia may release your personal information in response to a valid subpoena or other compulsory request from law enforcement. Please see our Privacy Policy. Please do not take this as a legal threat, I am simply pointing out to you that if you use Wikipedia to break the law such as by fraudulently and wilfully violating copyright, the law holds you, not Wikipedia, liable. --Yamla 17:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You were caught deliberately falsifying OTRS information. Your actions have deliberately placed Wikipedia in legal jeopardy and given that you have been blocked in the past for copyright issues, I can see no alternative other than blocking you indefinitely. You are welcome to contest this block but please note that your actions have been reprehensible. What is this???, I clearly wrote to behindwoods.com as per Hariharan Nambiar had did to nowrunning.com - and I got an instant e-mail notification - which I copied and pasted - which you can see for proof!!! nowrunning.com and behindwoods.com are governed by the same commitee if you did not know! I request an unblock, as I believe I have done NOTHING WRONG. As per earlier images of Vijay, [[[Rajinikanth]] and Asin Thottumkal they were taken off mates of mine who - one of whom is a cameraman, the other a resident in Spain, the other my mate who lives in Southall. I also believe that a couple of my previous blockings were errors as confirmed by you afterwards. I have made close to 8000 edits on En Wikipedia and consider myself to be a good editor who works hard. And by the way, why is my brother, also an editor under User:King Dracula blocked ??? Is it wrong for siblings to edit wikipedia per User:Hariharan91, User:Chelsea123 and User:Maddy20 - who all seem to be brothers or sockpuppets. Check using edit history King Dracula and I have different edits while as editing at different times, for instance I have been away for the last 2 days on a expedition but he has kept editing! So how does that make hima sockpuppet. Why am I blocked indefinitely, other editors editors like User:Arjun1591 and User:M.arunprasad have got away with murder in image cases. The previous having more than a hundred image problems, with 1 block from you. I rquest an unblock, please reply in the positive, I wish.

This is even worse than I thought. You admit to being an abusive sockpuppet of an indefinitely blocked user, Prin (talk · contribs). As such, you were already not permitted to edit the Wikipedia. And your comments above do not in any way address your fraudulent falsification of OTRS permission information which is the proximate reason this account has been blocked. Your block has been reviewed by multiple administrators. Your deliberate attempt to place Wikipedia in legal jeopardy by making fraudulent claims about image licensing permissions has left us with no option but to block you indefinitely. We will most likely have to go back and revert all of your edits made with this account. I am stunned and disappointed at your reprehensible actions and your apparent willingness to harm the Wikipedia. --Yamla 21:35, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But, I have done constuctive edits and I've got evidence of the e-mails if i could send to you privately. And how am I an abusive sockpuppet? How have I harmed Wikipedia with this user: nothing. My blocking has been jumped into a conclusion without the real explanations. I will show you evidence, is this enough to unblock me.

Please, I beg of you to unblock me, I promise never to upload an image again if it means of me getting unblocked, its because I really enjoy editing Wikipedia, and many other editors have praised me due to this. Most of my edits have been significant and worthy. Eg. R. Madhavan article which I brought from a Stub to a GE and as said by User:Derek.cashman it could become FA! The thing I don't understand is, that no clear evidence or proof has been given for my blocking. I would like one - if not I might be forced to take legal action for misuse of rights and for conclusions without evidence. I request for an unblock - so I can carry on editing Wikipedia, without causing any haram as I did before. I repeat If you unblock me, I will never upload an image ever again - as that is why (but I don't understand why) I have been 'blocked'. Prince Godfather 12:04, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is proof for your blocking. You uploaded images and claimed that they had permission stored in an OTRS ticket. I had someone with access to this database look up the information and this was shown to be blatantly false. You have yet to explain why you falsified this information. Additionally, you created this account to get around a block placed on Prin (talk · contribs) and as such were never entitled to edit using this account. Either of these actions is sufficient to warrant an indefinite block. That you did both means we will no longer entertain unblock requests. --Yamla 22:27, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Suman Setty requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
