You protected [[D. James Kennedy]] because of an edit war? One POV-warrior and what appears to be 5-10 other editors does not an edit war make. Sometimes I don't get admins jumping into a fray without getting ALL of the facts, then making a decision like this one without adequate explanation. Decisions like this push away a lot of good editors (and frankly good admins). You might want to reconsider your actions. Jupiter

I noticed that on the Jupiter page the following edit was made using AWB:

 • From: "The elliptical orbit of Jupiter is inclined 1.31° compared to the Earth."
 • To: "The elliptical orbit of Jupiter is inclined 1.31°Compared to the Earth."

If the change in capitalization (and removal of a space) was made by a bot then I suspect it shouldn't have done so. If not then I must admit I'm unclear why it was changed. Do you have any idea? Thank you. — RJH (talk) 16:25, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that's my first time using AWB (nope, it wasn't a bot). I didn't notice the space was removed and the "C" capitalized. I think I'll go through the eight other edits I made using the tool again, just in case I missed something like this somewhere else. Thanks for pointing that out! · AndonicO Talk 16:31, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyeditor needed for F-Zero

I have been referred to you from the now retired user, Giggy. The parts tagged "in-universe", specifically the "Fictional universe" section. A IP has added these tags so I am not quite sure if "F-Zero machines" actually need much work. What do you think? FMF 18:23, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there

I would be fine...if there wasn't construction going on right above my head. I've gone back to looking over pictures at WP:FPC and cramming some edits in during my spare time.
It's sad that Arjun retired. Well, it can't be helped. He's not the only one, though; two other Wikipedians, whom I've worked with quite closely, HighwayCello and The Raven's Apprentice, have left as well. In the case of the former, he is "missing, believed retired". Then, in August, Minun was unblocked, but he has apparently left as well. A lot of changes have been made to Pokémon articles, in particular their slimming down and merging, so I'm not really pleased...and the Singaporean GCE 'O' Level examination begins in October. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 02:05, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I thought the vandal to mean was that we are the "Nazis" he/she/it/whatever was referring to, and from the way indiscriminate and unsourced information is removed from articles, he/she/it/whatever might have implied it to be so. Ah well, it's only a personal attack in the eye of the beholder. Did you see WarthogDemon's user page? He removed a certain vandal attack, but liked the picture the vandal put up and left it there. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 02:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
At least you landed on your feet. Ryulong has had it bad; in his/her talk page, this user kept calling him/her a Leninist and a Cabbalist. He should've seen an earlier discussion about cabals. This user also added an off-topic on Ryulong's RFC, which was removed. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 02:25, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BEEP. Thanks for the notification. I'll tell you why it didn't work: there's a limit to the number of characters for raw signature, isn't there? It so happens that mine needed one extra character, and I accidentally omitted the point, so it looked to me as if it was complete, when in actual fact it wasn't. After your little notification, I used the X11 hex for "DarkGreen" colour, which takes up two characters less. I was also able to change the colour for my middle pseudonym from "Coral" to "Orange". It should work now. Try it while I go around repairing the damage I've done. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 10:56, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah...just imagine. I've changed my signature again. The colours are, in order, viridian, carrot orange, and tyrian purple. Typefaces, in order, are Palatino Linotype, Constantia and Continuum Medium. Even something as weird as the SuperCarrot from Tyrian can get into my signature. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 11:53, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Palatino Linotype was a font used by one of my classmates on Windows Live Messenger. In addition, I learnt that Bejeweled 2 uses a font titled Continuum, and that some forums speculate that the Nintendo Wii font is a rip-off from it. The page Tyrian purple is disambiguated when you click here. As for colors, SaturnYoshi left a comment here when I asked for help related to changing the colour of a typeface in wiki markup. I also looked at this category from the list of categories that the Tyrian purple article was categorised under.
And that's the way the cookie crumbles. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 12:15, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Uhh, that may have been a bit long-winded. It appears to have become one of my bad habits; when someone asks me "Why?", I'll just find an opportunity to drag the discussion out, to the point where either that person tells me to stop, or when I finish explaining myself. This is one reason why I think I'm using a significant portion of Wikipedia's bandwidth when I do the Are You A Wikipediholic Test. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 12:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent a reply to your inbox. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 12:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah...your message was labelled as dangerous by Windows Live Mail. Well, BEEP to that. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 12:50, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can figure out why. It's because you asked for something. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 13:01, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You missed my point. What, specifically, did you ask for from me? That must be why they marked your message as dangerous. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 13:47, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding a block?

I'm concerned about the one-day block on 12.168.112.176 (talk · contribs). It takes days (five days between the last time and recent) before he vandalizes the Nodoka Miyazaki article again. Is it possible to expand his block on him? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 16:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, but it's worth a try. Thanks! - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 16:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PS, on which did he violate the three-revert rule? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 16:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, he wanted to split the article of the same person to those of different incarnations of a work. But we're talking about the same character, even if that character has somewhat different traits from that of the original work. (It's like separating the traits of Sakura from Tsubasa Chronicle from Sakura Kinomoto, although they are the same character. This may be different story, but of the same essence.) But some users don't agree with his reason. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 16:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Tim Pawlenty page protection

Hi AndonicO,

Thanks for protecting the Tim Pawlenty article. I have a request to go with it. One of the Pawlenty-bowdlerizers got in one last umpteenth repeat of their removal of the entire section on "Controversies", along with a couple other NPOV-vio/misleading cite changes they had also repeated literally over a dozen times, just before the page protection was set. I think it would be unfortunate if the protection served a temporary victory to a major NPOV-violation. It is also not the kind of thing that I think lends itself well to resolution on the talk page; they have simply removed the entire "Controversies" section, in an identical edit, over a dozen times in rapid succession. Would you please undo the last edit prior to your protection? That edit is here. Thanks, - Reaverdrop (talk/nl) 20:01, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! - Reaverdrop (talk/nl) 20:09, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.--Appraiser 20:35, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I realize that the Pawlenty page needed protection, but some of the controversies sections contains weasel words like "countless editors", which I had removed only to be reverted without discussion on talk. If it is going to be protected, it should at least be protected in a form which is not blatentely biased. Arzel 23:53, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of other suggestions:The bridge collapse killed 13, not 9. And lieutenant should not be capitalized when used in that way. I recognized that the section has some problems, including lousy formating of references, but I objected to anonymous users deleting the section rather than improving it.--Appraiser 00:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Posting here as well, because there are more than two users in this discussion.I've fixed the two problems you pointed out; I'll get to work on the references throughout the article tomorrow. · AndonicO Talk 01:08, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Burt reynolds

On his page if you look at talkpages There is a few things he added that had long been agreed upon to leave out to keep this article in a NPOV, We agreed to leave out his father's middle name as there are several discrepencies, as to whether it is Leon or Milo. Also where his parents were born doesn't really belong here. Then a proper citation was removed of her italian heritage, to be replaced with a SUPPOSED citation of her not being part italian. Which is why to keep things from a NPOV the only thing that needs to be there are her parents names (minus his dad's middle name). not their lineage or places of birth. So in short if you could just remove father's middle, and parents birthplaces the page will be a happy place. Also if you look at the talkpages you will see where my biggest opponent of things on Burt's page (lugnut215) agrees.Rogue Gremlin 21:07, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
