Who's handling MG now?

After PMDrive's retirement, I've noticed that nobody else has decided to take his place to remove MG. I feel that unless someone is keeping a close eye on him, he'll just end up spawning more account hives and still performing edits when he shouldn't be. Any info on this? treelo radda 10:15, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody was handling MG, per se, though PMDrive was certainly good at finding him. Other admins have blocked MG sockpuppets in the past. If you find some that need blocking, feel free to drop me a line and I'll block them. I've added his page to my watch list, but I don't monitor his usual targets, so I'm not likely to find his new accounts. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I mean, he was pretty much the sole person trying to remove him for good even though nobody wants to take action as he's not a Grawp level of vandal. You can't simply keep playing Whack-A-Mole with his sockpuppets each time one pops up and I also reckon keeping a well updated list of his most recent accounts is good either, even he edits it! No, something does need to be done because regardless of if he's being malicious or even editing in good faith, he remains an issue and I'd like to see if those who have dealt with MG in the past can make some form of coordinated effort to get this guy community blocked. I know PMDrive tried very hard, even asking Jimbo and others higher up the food chain than the local admins here for some action and nothing has happened and makes a mockery of the anti-vandal system. treelo radda 10:22, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He's already been community banned, so it already is block on sight. Apparently whatever ISP he uses has a large IP pool and too many other active or potentially active editors to make a range block worthwhile without collateral damage. Unfortunately, beyond that, there isn't much more admins can do about that. Going to the Foundation, I would imagine he isn't a high priority compared to other more prolific and destructive vandals like Grawp. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:40, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting, didn't know most of this before, RBI is the only thing available then? They are right, he's no Grawp and is merely an irritant to those who know his past behaviour but I'm thinking of a few other vandals similar to MG in having a large IP pool from which to vandalise and nothing can be done about them either. Hm, I'll keep the list upto date (which I reckon MG keeps as a nice trophy) but I only ever spot him when he strays into my watched articles so you might miss a few. treelo radda 09:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, RBI is pretty much the only thing that can be done. I don't think he is actually the atypical trophy type of vandal even if he maintains his own list of accounts and will correct sockpuppetry tags. He's an unusual type of vandal and doesn't really seem to be in it for the "glory" like Grawp or others. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So, if he's not out for glory or soapboxing then what's driving him? The fact he can't be stopped? I prefer the more typical vandals, at least they're easy to figure out. treelo radda 11:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A few years ago (yup, that long), an editor made contact with MG's mother. The mother said that he was autistic. It's in the LTA page. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 15:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MG. I got your e-mail and I'd like to thank you and Treelo for recognizing my efforts. I guess I misunderstood your message; I thought I was being linked with MG!  :) Anyway, it was I who'd contacted his mom under my original "Lucky 6.9" username. An early sock was named after his mom's e-mail account and I took a chance on trying to make contact since he was becoming so prolific so quickly. She's the one who told me about him. I remember her telling me that she monitored his computer use and made sure that he stayed off of chat rooms and such so that no one could take advantage of him; I'm glad she doesn't view Wikipedia as a threat! I answered back, explaining the severity of his actions over here but I never heard from her again. That e-mail address was from Road Runner Cable in San Diego; another was an e-mail address for an account with Cox Cable, a major provider in San Diego. They even sponsor the sports arena at SDSU. I agree he's no Grawp. That lunacy is perpetuated by bored teenagers who stumble on the ED entry, come here and play copycat. Unless ED puts a stop to it (which they won't), the "whack-a-Hagger" will simply continue until they get tired of it. As for me, I kind of got tired of the game myself, started lashing out at those responsible and getting my own butt chewed out for a lack of civility. Anyway, thanks again for the recognition. It's hard to stay away, but I'm trying.  :) Later. --70.104.7.231 (talk) 14:49, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thanks for your work on Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD.js. Can there be an option made so that "non-admin closure" could be an option inserted into the end of the edit summary? Cirt (talk) 23:20, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  1. It works great! Could you just make it wikilink "non-admin closure" to Wikipedia:Non-admin closure? Thanks, Cirt (talk) 00:06, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oh, also it only needs to say "non-admin closure" in the edit summary. Per WP:NAC it is not necessary to say that at the top of the closed AFD. Cirt (talk) 00:09, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

David Lynch external link

There appears to be no outside biography of David Lynch at the external links' listing. Therefore, we feel it is appropriate to add at least one such site. This is the only non-profit site hosting David Lynch biography which we could find by a quick search. We added a note about this also to the discussion page of the David Lynch article. We'll go ahead and undo the revert of the robot. Thank you.

I need your help

Hello Gogo,
Can you please take a look at the past couple of Ip blocks by administrator Kaihsu (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) and see whether theres anything sticking out in the contribs to warrant an automatic one year block which he was been handing out to some of them? I left a note on his talk page a couple of days ago but he has not replied as of yet, he has continued to edit though and i was just curious thats all. For all the Ips it was their first block, they hardly received any warnings if at all and this one he blocked indefinitely. I was always under the impression that IPs aren't indef except in extreme circumstances. Hopefully you can put my mind at ease. I would say that there isn't that much material to review, but I would really like the opinion of an uninvolved admin, as the way things are heading, most of the reviewing arbitrators are assuming bad faith in the case of the topic banned editor, calling him obsessive when it has been continuously made clear that he is not. I honestly want them to really review the material again before sticking with their votes.— dαlus Contribs /Improve 05:45, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah Palin wheel war case request for evidence

Copying this to all admins who applied or extended protection on the Sarah Palin article.

To date there's been plenty of evidence pointing to discussions and otherwise offering commentary on the admin actions taken, but there's been little covering the circumstances prior to admin actions, namely the edits that the admins concerned based protection on. Newyorkbrad has put a question to the parties on this basis, but it seems to be only non-parties that have noticed that so far, so I'm putting this question to those involved directly.

Rootology has made a start here, and GRBerry has started drafting in his userspace. Ye might like to assist them in their efforts, or add a section of your own. This evidence will be vital in assisting the Committee's understanding of not only what happened and when, but why it happened. --bainer (talk) 14:01, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Martial Arts Academy

Hi Gogo Dodo,

I'm writing with regards to the Oxford Martial Arts Academy. I think OMAA is significant in the following ways: - this is the first academy in Oxford offering a variety of martial arts training - OMAA has the ONLY professional ring in Oxford. I've been there myself and the ring is really something that Oxford needs. - OMAA's instructors have international standing - see Des Brackett and Luciano Pereira. - OMAA works closely with the community (Oxford Council and the Youth Justice Board, of which I am a member)to try to get kids off the streets and therefore reduce crime rates in Oxford - OMAA can best be described as a social enterprise, and this is the first time (to my knowledge; and I've been working in the industry for a very long time) that a martial arts academy concentrates alot of time and effort in community work. I do, however, really think you should keep the page up and not delete it.

Many thanks Gogo,

:[?

Just wondering why you deleted Strike the Choir's article. I, being a fan, believe they deserve their own article as they are as big as they are. They play regularly with bands such as Fear Before the March of Flames, and The Number Twelve Looks Like You. Their CD was recorded by Tyler Orr and Cody Bonnette (of As Cities Burn) and they're notable for their mathematical time signatures mixed with the screamo genre. What is not important about any of that?

Hi, I fixed this up and removed the copyvio information. I also warned the contributor, Footlight Guy (talk · contribs) about the violation. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 22:46, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have heard of mascot guy, didn't realize it was him who made the edits. The article was originally a complete cut and paste of Hardee's obit as published by Reuters, I fixed and will work on it sporadically. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 05:16, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My bad!

Sorry if I accidentally got in your way posting to the talk page of the latest Lolcat vandal; I went in to undo the vandalism myself and must have just done it right after you, but I didn't notice the edit conflict so I went ahead and posted on the talk page before I noticed that you were already handling it. --Politizer (talk) 03:48, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weslaco East High School

Dear Gogo Dodo, thanks for deleting Aniinal droppings. Please delete Weslaco East High School. It's a nonsense. It is supposed to be a page about a high school, but it a mini-bio of Mr. Clinton. AdjustShift (talk) 04:49, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Open "Lyle123" sock

Hey, GD.  :)

Did a little more lurking last night and I found this: User:AirForceFeatureFilmmovie2009. Can you say, Lyle123? I reported it to AIV, but it was removed by another admin who suggested I take it to SSP. However, Lyle has had so many socks that I don't even know where to begin to number a new complaint. He's already been blocked for a similar username and while he hasn't edited via this account yet (I caught him before he could), it's still best to block this guy on sight due to the incredible amount of hoaxes he generates. See ya. You-know-who at --70.104.7.231 (talk) 14:47, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

grand prix 4 add extern link

Wanted to ask if it would be beneficial to the grand prix 4 community if they would see the external link to hotlaps.de We identisied that most owners of grnd prix 4 would like to compete in hot lapping competitions. hotlaps.de covers an esports discipline for this community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by HBeck (talkcontribs) 16:39, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New User

Hello Gogo Dodo!

I am a new user on wikipedia and just wanted to ask if my new page could be removed from the deletion list. My new page is Kaburst and i still have a lot i want to do with it. I think the reason it was considered is because it starts off like it should be in wiktionary. but yeah just give me some time to make it better.

Thanks!

Carmela Santucci

It is hugely significant that she was the whistle blower of the follieri charade, stop deleting things that are absolutely true, why don't you go and get the Vanity Fair Article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hsimonson1 (talkcontribs) 01:01, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to complain to wiki about you. I have submitted information that is verifiable by The New York Times and Vanity Fair on Carmela Santucci and The Follieri Charade. If you can't find the information feel free to call the publications, but your deleting is ridiculous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hsimonson1 (talkcontribs) 01:08, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me then, I am new to this. I don't know what you mean by explain why she is notable. She is the whistle blower basically. It's like why is Sherron Watkins important to Enron. That is who she is in this story. How is that not important? I don't know what specifically you are saying I should write? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hsimonson1 (talkcontribs) 01:15, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

forget it, i don't care now, i'm not going to bother trying to contribute. my first attempt at participating was to edit someone else's entry and as i was doing it it was deleted. there are very credible authors who have written about her role in bringing justice to the Follieri fraud but instead of offering help my first attempt was met with a speedy deletion. So clearly there is no interest in contributors who aren't an administrator, it's an encyclopedia dictatorship apparently and you deem what the importance is. She is the whistle blower obviously and is even noted as such in the Yucaipa lawsuit against Follieri. It's all information readily available and easily verifiable. But I'm done, this is clearly a waste of anyones time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hsimonson1 (talkcontribs) 01:19, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User Simonson1 did provide sources. What other details are necessary, please advise. She cited Vanity Fair and The New York Times, I googled both and they do indeed exist. I think you are mistaken in the speedy deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnnytravolta (talkcontribs) 02:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Burden of finding sources

In regards to a recent response you made, saying that it is the burden of the creator of the article to find sources on why it is notable, where did you get this? I ask because I recently had a discussion with another editor in regards to that specific line, but I didn't know what it fell under.— dαlus Contribs /Improve 01:22, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
