Atlantic Coast Conference football championship games FTC under retention
Just letting you know that you have 3 months from the date of creation of the article 2009 ACC Championship Game, or until 22 May, to get it fully peer reviewed and added to the Atlantic Coast Conference football championship games FTC. Hope that's okay! :) rst20xx (talk) 13:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Question

Hello, I have seen some of your work on the Virginia Tech related articles and on DYK and the college football newsletters. I was wondering if you would be up for helping me (a fellow ACC compatriot) out with a bowl game article I've been working on myself. In fact, I used a few of your featured articles as a general guideline. If you could take a quick look at 2008 Humanitarian Bowl and give me some ideas for areas needing improvement, it would be greatly appreciated. If you don't have the time or otherwise don't wish to do so, not a big deal at all. Either way, thanks. Strikehold (talk) 15:30, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking a look at the article and even doing the GA review. Are there any recommendations or comments you have before a FA nomination? Thanks again. Strikehold (talk) 08:35, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you taking the time to share your comments. As for: "insert non-breaking spaces between numerals and their labels," I'm sorry, but I don't understand what labels you are referring to. Can you provide an example? I agree about having to link American football terminology, that's something I usually overlook. Thanks for the advise. Strikehold (talk) 09:11, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments. The FAC has been going for 3.5 weeks, and a lot of the opposes have come from subjective grammatical issues that I don't agree with. It's good to see someone step in and support the good old short sentence! Also, the user who responded to your concerns is not a major contributor to the article, and not the nominator (though I agree with what he said). Apterygial 23:51, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2008 ACC Championship Game

I actually didn't delete the ndashes, but rather converted them from the html format to an actual dash using wikiadvisor, a new script which I'm still getting the hang of personally. (If one views the page they won't see a change, they still look like dashes). Anyway, I'll look over the article again shortly and likely pass it. Wizardman 14:21, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2008 ACCCG FAC

Hi, JK. Thanks for the link and the offer regarding my upcoming FAC. As for the 2008 ACCCG FAC, I took a look as you requested and left my comments. It's a longish list, but really all minor things. I also made some minor edits to the article itself, so please take a look at the history and feel free to revert or change any you disagree with. Orange Bowl TV Ratings

 • Information came from an article dated Jan. 9, and based on information from nielsen wire. It shows: "Thursday, January 1 -- 2.6, 4.1 mil: Outback, Iowa/South Carolina (11 AM ESPN); 6.4, 10.8 mil: Capital One, Georgia/Michigan St. (1 PM ABC); 4.1, 6.6 mil: Gator, Nebraska/Clemson (1 PM CBS); 11.7, 20.6 mil: Rose, USC/Penn St. (5 PM ABC); 5.4, 9.3 mil: Orange, Cincinnati/Virginia Tech (8:30 PM FOX)" The nielsen.com does indeed show at 9.3 mil. viewers. Additionally, it shows "Thursday, January 8 -- 15.8, 26.8 mil: BCS National Championship Game, Florida/Oklahoma (8 PM FOX)" What is your source? Ucla90024 (talk) 23:50, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
 • The factor you are using is not correct. It should be about 1.7 x rating points, in mil. of viewers. See also [1] for article on the final rating. By using approx. 1.7 on other bowl games, you would get correct number of viewers listed above. Ucla90024 (talk) 00:21, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
 • Factor came from dividing the number of viewers by the rating points for the games listed above. Factors: BCS, 1.7; Rose, 1.76; Fiesta, 1.63; Sugar, 1.72; Orange, 1.72. Beyond that, you would have to ask Nielson. The list above and Sports Media Watch article show both the rating points and the viewers, but the two you cited just show the total viewers. Ucla90024 (talk) 00:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
 • 1,145,000 is the households and they apply another factor to determine the number of viewers, I believe, something like 1.6 people in each household. For example, last week's AFC Championship game on CBS had a 22 rating, and 40.645 mil. viewers. Maybe other factors involved. Ucla90024 (talk) 01:38, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2008 ACCCG images

Hi, the best I can do with what you have given me,[2] is to add an OTRS pending tag to the images. I am not an admin nor do I have OTRS access, so we have to wait for one of them to confirm and approve the ticket for the images. Jappalang (talk) 00:48, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I have left a message with an admin with OTRS access to ask him to check the permissions and tag the images. If an old email with blanket permission was sent, there's no automatic process for marking new images uploaded under that permission - someone has to be asked to do it, or you can send an email to permissions-en with the old ticket number and ask that way. --B (talk) 01:43, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please see [3] on my talk page. They were expecting an email from you regarding that ticket. You can follow up with Stifle (talk · contribs), who is handling it. --B (talk) 02:18, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dravecky (talk) 13:01, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for the error. Now that the DYKadmin bot is working again, the credits are handed out automatically by the bot but signed with the name of the admin that assembled and promoted the queue of hooks, which in this case was me. Due to a quirk in the bot's programming, if one person has more than one credit coming in a queue then the admin must place an extra space after the person's name on the second hook (and two spaces after the third, etc.) to trick the bot into thinking they are different editors or else it hands out the same credit twice, as you experienced. Again, my apologies and I promise extra vigilance in the future. - Dravecky (talk) 12:24, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work! (copied from my talk page)

That American football concepts box you created looks pretty good. If you've got the time, I've got two suggestions: that you split out NCAA and NAIA to an "amateur leagues" section, and that you make the default state as collapsed (it's so detailed that its size gets in the way a bit). Overall though, it's a nice piece of work. JKBrooks85 (talk) 01:00, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I am planning on removing the "leagues" section from this box. I discovered there is a completely different box for football leagues that already exists.
I am also planning to add more articles and make a few other minor changes. It has taken a lot of work to create it and paste it in each article listed, so this won't be done for several more days. After that, I plan to review many of these articles, which are short and redundant, and should probably be merged into others. But thanks for the recognition. USMA history

I have responded to your suggestion on the USMA FAC page. I see that you are a very experienced editor with many FA's and awards for content review, and I appreciate your input. I also agree that the academy's history with hazing needs to be addressed in the article, and I'm doing as such. I'm just struggling to see why USMA seems to be held to a higher standard in its history section. As I stated in my reply, USMA's history section is already far larger and more in-depth than any other FA university article. I freely admit that the separate History of United States Military Academy is weak and needs LOTS of work, to include an in-depth coverage of all the topics listed by KnightLago and seconded by yourself, but that article is not up for FAC review. I know I'm new here, but shouldn't USMA's article FAC not be damaged by the shortcomings of a separate sub article that is not being reviewed. Again, sorry if I'm way out of line here, but I'm still learning. Thanks.  Ahodges7   talk 13:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I started this new article, and thought you might be interested since it relates to VT and several other ACC and Virginia schools (UVA, Richmond, VMI, Apprentice, CNU, VSU, Bridgewater, and Ferrum). I've spent some time trying to get a fix on the all-time results but still have some deficiencies. The years marked with an asterisk are a good guess for the participants (and took place in Norfolk), but I haven't been able to confirm it as being for the game. I'm not trying to get it to GA quality or anything, just as complete as possible. Take a look if you're interested/get a chance. Strikehold (talk) 22:15, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Final version

As a contributor to the discussion regarding sports team logos, I am soliciting feedback as to the latest version of that guideline. Your support/opposition/feedback would be appreciated. — BQZip01 — talk 21:14, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't consider trademarked images "free" images, per se. Trademarks can have a copyright attached as well. However, some trademarks are ineligible for copyright protection:
All of those on my subuser page meet such criteria (admittedly a bunch of them are on another site, but I'm working to upload them in the near future). There is a distinction and it is one we can use to prevent future squabbling. Honestly, I think it serves Wikipedia's goals to use more than one logo throughout the pages to show that there is more than one logo out there for a school. — BQZip01 — talk 01:18, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, you can just respond here. I'll check it. — BQZip01 — talk 01:42, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to look around for an image-checker, as that the media are the only issues stalling the FAC and preventing promotion. Dabomb87 (talk) 18:10, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've reviewed the article and left notes on the talk page. I've put the nomination on hold for seven days to allow the issues to be addressed. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, here, or on the article talk page with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on. Re: Sebastian Schneulle

I didn't realize Hans Gatt was Austrian - he doesn't have a wikipedia page yet (maybe soon though). I considered giving Sebastian a Canadian flag, however, if you view the Iditarod page, Martin Buser (who is now a naturalized American citizen) is given a Swiss Flag, so I was just trying to stay consistent. I've switched the flag for Gatt to Austrian, but I won't object if you feel compelled to switch both Gatt and Schnuelle flags to Canadian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Feyer (talkcontribs) 14:34, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, every bit of advice is welcome and helpful. with regards to the wrestling-titles website what I'll probably try and do is get other sources for the reigns after 1999, before 1999 the book got it covered - I'll do my best to find sources independent of wrestling-titles. Also thanks for the input on the text, it tends to be neglected in lists but you're right that has to be up to quality as well. Context is a good idea too, I'd probably expand on that a bit for those I intent to put up for FL, thanks for your input. MPJ-DK (talk) 12:03, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

USNA Scholars

Check this out; they don't even list the names of the 830 Burke scholars and few of the rest have articles. I think we already have the ones with articles listed in the alumni list, so I think making a separate article for this is borderline. The MOH one is done now. John Mitchell peer-review request

I'd love to get your feedback on an article I created and recently submitted for peer-review on Pittsburgh Steelers assistant head coach John Mitchell. Thanks in advance for your time. -- Deejayk (talk) 17:55, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, do you mind capping your comments if they are resolved? It's not your fault, but the FLC has become so long that it's hard to follow what's going on. Dabomb87 (talk) 20:37, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Dabomb87 (talk) 22:04, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, List of Yukon Quest competitors was promoted, but I still have that issue. Instead of "Jeff King won the 1989 Yukon Quest and finished twice two times" shouldn't it be "Jeff King won the 1989 Yukon Quest and finished second two times"? Dabomb87 (talk) 01:21, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

:) rst20xx (talk) 13:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
