Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito's 2009 season is the club's 56th year in professional football, and the 49th in the top level of professional football in Ecuador. The club will participate in their 14th Copa Libertadores, where they will defend their 2008 title. The club will also participate in their first Recopa Sudamericana, which they will play for against Brazilian club Internacional.
The biggest personnel change for 2009 is the manager. Uruguayan Jorge Fossati returns to the position after a stint between 2003 and 2004. In 2003, he led the club to their 7th national championship.
